  1. I agree with everyone. Life changes and so do we. I think it comes down to many like myself who says the cost of the fort these days ruined a lot. I can’t justify $180 a night at peak times for a concrete pad. We can talk about this forever but I think we all know many people don’t visit the fort anymore due to the price

  2. I agree. Some just have nothing but negative comments, or responses to posts. I guess you get that everywhere though. I have to admit, I'm guilty of not being as active on here though. I'm from KY and only get to the fort once a year if that, so I really don't have a ton to contribute compared to those who frequent the place. I do ask questions when we are prepping for our trip, or when I have a valid comment, but I usually don't just comment for "post count". I do love this site. Thanks to the admin for the great job they do keeping it going. It's a labor of love I'm sure, but still lots of

    Mad chalk art skills

So there is a group about 3 sites up with Michigan plates on their car. They have a young girl somewhere around 8-10 years old with some crazy chalk art skills. Was blown away watching her do these. To bad it just started raining and they will be gone shortly.

  4. A few weeks back, one of the TCD twins noticed a guest in the MK with a nifty Fort Wilderness ball cap she had never seen before. She asked the guest where he got it, and he said at the Settlement Trading Post. The TCD twins made a beeline there when they got a chance, and sure enough, there were new hats, shirts, mugs, and other things. They called to let me know. But, they didn't take any photos. There have been some mentions on this board about new merchandise. But no photos. Well, now there are. I popped in to the Fort the other night for the sole purpose of

  5. I still follow along, but since we sold the camper... I also try not to say much because I have become so negative about Disney. I still love fiends and the happy memories I have here. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

  6. My thoughts on this subject. As others have stated boards across the Internet are slowing down. Many reasons for this such as social media, people becoming busier in their everyday lives. Many of us here are in what is known as the sandwich generation. Not only are we busy withour own children, spouses and grandchildren (for those who have them), but also our parents. I read on here regularly. I post as often as I am able. I will tell you the other night while at the ER with my mom and stepdad, I was thankful to know I had a place like this to come to and ask for prayers. For those of you r

  7. For me the cost is kill me. The Fort was great when it cost $35-80 a night for a site and I went 10-15 times a year But now with the price over $100 a night is hard to justify a long trip anymore and to add my long time girlfriend hates camping and Disney. So my Fort trips are up and back the same day by myself.

    Wildlife at the Fort

We would frequently see turkeys and various wading birds along the canal between the 1300 loop and Meadows sports field in the morning around sunrise. Wandering around the loop late at night we have come across armadillos several times.

I saw a Bird flying around the pool today if that helps

  11. You could check out the bat house for any activity, I haven't checked in awhile not sure if TCD or anyone else has or not. We used to see the turkeys a lot in the 500 loop but I think they just wander.

  15. When my daughter got married at Disney she could pick venues in and out of the park. She chose the wedding pavilion. The biggest factor besides price for in park venues was the time limitations. Having to plan a wedding for 8am can be tough if you are having guests. The cost was not as bad as you may think for what we got.

  17. On Tuesday we left the cabin around 9:30 thinking we'd have plenty of time to make our first FP+ which expired at 10:30. We were wrong. There was a huge line of people waiting for the boat. But the boat didn't have room for our two scooters. Lots of people in line behind us got onto the boat, but we were told we'd have to wait for the next trip. One boat was down for maintenance, and so they were only running one boat, and it would be 20-25 minutes before they could get back for us. So we sat and chatted at one of the tables near the dock. And of course I start

  21. After getting settled into the cabin, we made a quick stop at the Meadow Trading Post. Then we went to Disney Springs for lunch. We decided to eat at: The rest of the group opted for sandwiches: But I couldn't resist the sides: The Brussels sprouts with whiskey-caramel were amazing. Then I tasted the BBQ cauliflower with paprika sour cream. Wow! It was even better! And then I tasted the tomato and watermelon salad with feta, basil, and pickled onion. I was in heaven. After lunch we shopped and just wandered around.

  22. Jean Ann checked us into the cabin. Mary and I picked up our ECVs, and Jean Ann picked up the golf cart. It didn't take much more than an hour after we landed before we were in our cabin! Ever wonder what a disability access cabin looks like?

  23. We will not have a golf cart. So what happens if we are in say the 900 loop which looks to be a ways from the dog bark. Is there a walk way that dogs are allowed on to get to the bark park? and while I am thinking of it, what about running with a dog in the mornings along a path/trail? I sure do not want to wake anyone with morning running if a puppy catches sight of us from a window. or if I go by myself. But I figure if I go by myself I will be out on the main sidewalks away from the campers (?) My Fort experience is 1 Hoop de Doo, maybe 3 or 4 visits to Trails End and a Haunte

  24. I'll second that recommendation. Our oldest dog is not a good dog park dog, so I usually take him for a jaunt down the 300 canal dog walk. We rarely ever encounter another dog out there. Although we do sometimes get barked at by dogs in the handful of campsites that back up to the canal. They're not super close, though.

  25. Since your a newbie, I mapped out the route that Grumpy described in his post: The Fort management does a terrible job providing information about the pet rules, but there are actually small signs directing guests with pets to use the sidewalk adjacent to the 400/500 loop comfort station to access the dog park. They don't want pets going from the 600, 700, 800 or 900 loops to go to the dog park via Big Pine Drive- they want to pets to be walked through the 500 loop. There is signage at the intersection of Big Pine and Ft. Wilderness Trail saying "No Pets Beyond This Point." Like all t
