  1. Santa, Do you bring the sleigh to the Fort or do you have to go all the way back to the Pole before your main trip?
  2. Hey, Wrig. I saw a post of yours elsewhere, but didn't chime in. Welcome to the Fiends. Hope you enjoy the chatter around here and contribute often, whether traveling, or not.
  3. Gretchen, is your post implying Aldis is selling the ceramic fry pan to use with the induction cooktop? Just curious.
  4. My favorite line will always be "Get off my airplane!"
  5. Since we get so upset with rule breakers, we try to follow them as closely as possible, whether in the van or the GC....can't imagine reverse driving in the MH. Disney may not care, but we do. It's a matter of safety. Maybe not in each instance, but eventually. While a wheel or two off the pavement may seem nit-pickin', such rules may contribute to maintaining the Fort as we know it. I will, however, admit to the high crime of running our lights and inflatables past 10 p.m. Although we were warned a couple times last year. We'll try to reform this year.
  6. We'll be trying our induction NuWave over Thanksgiving. I gotta check the pand in the MH to be sure they are steel, not copper or aluminum. I don't have any idea what these cost. The boss bought them.
  7. Wish I had that kind of energy. I'd be the cranky one at the end...
  8. That fabric on the sofa must be really awful. It seems to be the most mentioned complaint. And someone on site needs to slip in, maybe with mousekeeping and measure the larger bed. Not that we have ever stayed in a cabin, but I like the newer, updated look. I know in the rehab shows on TV the kitchen is the most often changed room on the show. We have a convection/microwave oven in our MH and have used it a couple of times for biscuits. I also used the gas oven once, also for biscuits....too hard to light. Looked like it had never been used when we bought the MH. I wish our cooktop we
  9. Some of you more adventurous campers may correct me, but aren't most of the canals mainly drainage ditches usually covered with the green growth? I've tried to stay away from them in our visits, but to each, his own. The Meadows (pool, etc) area is near the middle of FW and the Settlement (Marina, etc) is near the far end from the check-in location. While none of these distances matter if you have a GC or take the internal busses, they can be quite long if you are not used to walking on a regular basis. The Fort is about a mile long and a half mile across. Although there are still some pi
  10. I find lots of ways to declutter the MH and the house...but none of it is MINE!
  11. Toaster, Single Cup Keurig, Crock Pot all had to be color matched in Bama colors. Also have some old hard dishes, but use mostly plastic/foam/paper. Foil, Saran Wrap, bendable straws, spices, many boxed goods, most canned goods all stay in the MH. Some are rotated to the house when we run out of something we need immediately. And we occasionally find a can with domed ends we had overlooked that goes in the trash. Somewhat seasonal clothes stay in the MH, but we need some of everything for the Fort every winter. Bedding returns out there after laundering from a trip. OTC meds and supplie
  12. We met Curt Christmas before last when he stopped by our site for a chat. A real nice guy, and we wish him well in his future endeavors. We have a niece in Iowa and they are moving back south...probably to make room for Curt.
  13. And technically you are not supposed to park two cars, but this is largely overlooked as long as the wheels are all on the pavement. They might also get picky if the golf cart is parked even partly off of the pavement. Just depends on their mood at the moment. And just a good neighbor note: Be sure to park far enough inside your site so as to not infringe on the loop road or the ability of your neighbor from getting into his/her site due to the location of your vehicle(s).
  14. Another thing to watch for when a tire is going down...maybe slowly. We ruined a tire after we bought our newer MH. Found the schrader valve (the valve inside the valve stem) was just loose enough for a slow leak. You can get a kit at any auto parts store that includes a "wrench" for tightening it.
  15. Carol is just braggin'. Although I did hear our A/C come on around 9 last night. Maybe I'll do one more mowing this year, then maybe a contractor starting in the spring.
  16. You might want to check on the golf cart part of this regarding the "recent" WDW changes in what's allowed for rental carts.
  17. I like 'em. Wish we could use something like that, but our awning is so horizontal, we have to bring it in whenever the dew gets heavy, or we will collect eater to quench the arid western states.
  18. Not a big fan of Tex or Mex, and I know Shawnee will rather go to Cosmic Ray's. Maybe this new menu will pull some of the overload crowd from CR's so we can find a table easier. Then there's always a turkey leg....
  19. Oops! Previous comment was from Ken. I didn't notice Judy was still signed on. Sorry, Dear.
  20. I thought I had read the new machines at the Fort were as described above...computerized and credit card enabled. I also thought I had read they could notify you when your machines were finished.
  21. I think they are watching to see if you are slipping anyone in clinging to your undercarriage. Or counting axles to install a toll system?
  22. We never used our cover last Christmas. Yes we got some rain, but we either stay "home" or endured it. I seem to recall Gwen has the good kind of cover. We have the cheap one....harder to use.
  23. Our critter, Savannah has been going out on the deck just to chase the birds away we have put food out for. Then she lies in the sun for a while and comes in watching to see if the birds are back for another cycle.
  24. Welcome! You never know what you will get on this site. Be assured we have a very knowledgable group, not only on Ft Wilderness, but also on most any topic you can name. After 10 replies (or so) the threads usually get hijacked toward any subject that the poster thinks of. Enjoy the ride and post often.
