Well it sounds to me like everything has been decided. Your going with the Ford.  ;)

Haha... if we can find one within our budget, that's probably true.  We both like the Ford.   But budget is a reality, so we're searching hard and trying to get as educated as possible so we make a solid decision.  The Dodge still has some decent torque.  The fear is, we buy a strong but not super strong truck...and we take a trip through the mountains and think, "dang it... should have spent the money on the super strong".  It would really stink to buy something only to wish you had bought something else.   I wish we could tow our trailer with the Dodge and see how it performs.

Yes... we're having a lot of fun :)

I think it's a great color, just not for a truck :D Go Vols!

To me, a buyback is the same thing as a lemon. Will they disclose the reason for the buyback? Also, if it is a buyback, it probably will decrease its resell value. Just a thought. For GMC, I have not

If you are willing to pay 29,900 on a 2011 ram check this one it is more but it's a better truck.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ram-2500-ST-Tradesman-Crew-Cab-6-7L-Diesel-4X4-Truck-/311380632129?forcerrptr=true&hash=item487fbb6241&item=311380632129

The pictures show it to be a gas 6.4L Hemi not diesel. The specs also say 6.4L gasoline. I suspect someone incorrectly copied the diesel information into title line and sub model.

Okay, so we thought we found a good fit, then we pulled the Carfax and saw that the radiator had been replaced...5 times in 4 years; along with a new transmission and a couple of other "minor" things.  All of this on a car with less than 50k miles.

Yeah...I say we buy this one!

Wow.....that sounds like a winner. 50k miles and 5 radiators....something was really wrong there. What was the truck?

I'm curious as to the 5 radiators as they are not something you typically replace more than once unless they kept getting rocks thrown through it or had a lot of front end accidents. I could see the transmission going bad due to a bad radiator. Either way I would avoid this one as something doesn't pass the smell test.

I was thinking the same thing with the tranny going bad. I know some trucks run tranny fluid through the radiator in a separate set of pipes to help keep it cool. Not sure if the f250 does it but my Dakota and Ranger were both setup that way.

I know the Ford 3.0L and 4.0L V6 engines do as does the 5.0L V8. In both of my V6'es they also go to auxiliary coolers. My understanding is it is not just for cooling that they go to the radiator but also to bring the transmission up to temperature faster in cold climate winters.

All this tow vehicle talk got me looking as well. The wife is going to kill me. :D

I am blaming Nacole for getting me looking again. Well that and DH says he does want to go camping more, but doesn't trust our truck too much. So I found this nearby.

Is it worth it to drive over and check it out? How much would you offer? We will have a trade.

Looks like a good truck. Mileage doesn't seem bad for that year. I would be more concerned with the 4 owners in 167k miles. There may be something wrong with it since it has switched hands that many times.

Scratch that...it is the 6.0. The mobile auto trader site is horrible on showing details.

Do you guys have a brand preference?

Dodge or Ford. DH says just a 2500 or 250. I dream BIG for our next camper and wouldn't mind getting something bigger, but sadly no one at my house has bought into the if momma ain't happy philosophy.

Sorry... hopefully your search will be easier than ours!!  Trying to find that right fit is a pain in the tush!

We had looked at the Mega Cabs before, but since it would limit our choice for future campers not sure it would be the best fit for us. They are super comfortable though even the backseat.

I think the 6.4's actually have a dual radiator system, so that may be why the numerous radiators replaced on each truck. We have a few still in our fleet and I thought I remembered being asked if it was the front one or rear one when ordering from the dealer and we replaced a few too.

Best Regards,

Norm
