35 kiosks will be positioned around both World Showcase and Future World, up from 30 kiosks in recent years.

 

 

Details are still being finalized, but an Indian Marketplace will make an appearance, along with Spain.

 

 

The 2017 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival will run from August 31 to November 13 2017, for a total of 75 days, 13 more than last year.

Do you know that the Swan and Dolphin put on their own mini version of the Food and Wine Festival?  With food booths and everything?  I've never been, but I've thought about trying it some time.

There are many special numbers to celebrate as we announce the 22nd annual Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, opening Aug. 31 and running through Nov. 13 – that’s 75 days to sip, savor and enjoy one of America’s top food festivals (13 more than last year).

And to celebrate the park’s opening 35 years ago in 1982, there will be a record number of Marketplaces – 35 in all – stretching around World Showcase and into Future World.

While the Marketplaces play a starring role, we recommend planning ahead so you don’t miss your favorite celebrity chefs, hands-on culinary workshops and demonstrations at the Festival Center, Party for the Senses, or your favorite artists at one of the nightly Eat to the Beat concerts. Stay tuned. We’ll let you know when schedules are in place and bookings for specialty festival events open this summer.

Chefs are busy at work on new dishes for the Marketplaces, paired with wines, beers and ciders. We got a taste of the new crispy chicken with griddled cornbread and red-eye gravy for the Farm Fresh Marketplace and the spicy Korma Chicken with cucumber-tomato salad, almonds, cashews and warm naan bread from the India Marketplace– just two of the intriguing and delectable new tastes that will be in the 2017 cookbook. Another favorite was the charcuterie in a cone from the Spain Marketplace, perfect for strolling and tasting. For a favorite sweet, it’s back to India with the pistachio cardamom cake with a dollop of chocolate coconut mousse. And these are just a sampling of dozens of new tastes.

This year there are more family favorites, too, with the Ratatouille-inspired scavenger hunt back for another year as well as culinary demos and dishes geared toward kids’ palates.

Along with Party for the Senses, the festival includes specialty dining and pairing events at World Showcase restaurants and events at the resort hotels such as Brunch with a Twist at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Get ready for eating, drinking, rockin’ & rollin’ at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival!

Throughout the Epcot Food and Wine Festival, popular bands from the 80s, 90s, and even the 00s take the stage at the American Gardens Theater in the American Adventure Pavilion in Epcot to share some of their greatest hits with the crowds!

These concerts are free with Epcot admission, and take place three times per evening (5:30pm, 6:45pm, 8:00pm).

Eat to the Beat Dining Package

Because seating for the Eat to the Beat Concert Series is first-come, first-served, Disney began offering Eat to the Beat Dining Packages in 2014. They will be available again in 2017.

The experience enables guests to pair their Eat to the Beat Concert experience with lunch or dinner at their favorite Epcot restaurant and enjoy a guaranteed seat for the show!

Previously, packages were booked by calling 407-939-1889.

Below is the information for dining packages in 2016. We’ll be updating with the 2017 information soon!

Eat to the Beat Package Dining Times

Dining Reservation start times must be at least 2.5 hours prior to the Eat to the Beat show time. Guests dining for breakfast or lunch will have choice of concert seating for all three show times, while guests dining for dinner will have a choice of seating for one or two show times (depending upon restaurant dinner meal period start time).  Guests should arrive at the America Gardens theater 15 minutes prior to the concert start time, entering through the designated package entrance.

Eat to the Beat Dining Package Details

Breakfast packages include one buffet or family-style dining (where applicable).

Lunch and dinner packages include your choice of an appetizer, entree, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage or 1 full buffet from the chosen restaurant’s menu.

Prices exclude tax and gratuity, and park admission is not included.

Eat to the Beat Dining Packages and the Disney Dining Plan
Guests can use the Disney Dining Plan to pay for the packages.

Probably a cheap plastic button, cost less than 10 cents versus a glass that costs them $1 or 2?

We still have (and sometimes use) the 4 wine glasses we got 2 years ago and we use last year's glass all the time (wish I could have gotten more of those). I was hoping to add to the collection this year.

Buttons are cute but will probably end up in a drawer somewhere.  :wacko:

Epcot’s Heritage Inspires New Merchandise for 22nd International Food & Wine Festival

Expanding for a longer-than-ever 75-day run, the 22nd Epcot International Food & Wine Festivalreturns to Walt Disney World Resort from August 31 to November 13, 2017. The Disney Parks Merchandise team has developed more than 75 items celebrating the many ways guests can sip and taste their way throughout Epcot. I recently spoke with the Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media Creative Group about designing this year’s merchandise artwork.

“Each year we look forward to designing artwork for [Epcot International Food & Wine Festival],” explained Creative Manager Doug Strayer. “The art includes nods to Epcot’s 35th Anniversary on October 1, and beloved characters like Figment and Remy. As cast members, we love this event as much as our guests. It’s fun for us to see guests at Epcot wearing the artwork we created.”

Disney Creative Group artists Richard Terpstra, Susan Foy, Dave Holbrook, and Brian Blackmore contributed to this year’s assortment. Their artwork was compiled into a style guide which merchandise product developers referenced when creating apparel, pins, home décor, accessories and more.

Fans of Figment will be delighted to find several new items featuring the lovable purple dragon. Doug said the 1980s-looking Figment artwork was inspired by a classic Epcot attraction.

“During the design phase, we kept referencing the Kitchen Kabaret attraction once located in The Land Pavilion. That food-themed show included the song ‘Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit,’ which we couldn’t get out of our heads [laughs]. We liked the show’s art style, so we combined it with a stylized Chef Figment. It’s a fun way to salute the heritage of Epcot.”

Another nod to Epcot’s heritage is found within the Passport collection. Look carefully to see stamps containing World Showcase marketing artwork from 1982.

22nd International Food & Wine Festival Merchandise

The Brews Around the World collection returns this year with new designs by Susan Foy. Look for the artwork on apparel and drinkware, including a new stainless steel growler and baseball cap with a bottle opener.

For the first time, we are introducing an “Eat to the Beat” concert T-shirt with a World Showcase-inspired guitar graphic.

Dooney & Bourke handbags with Figment and World Showcase graphics will also be released during the event.

Annual Passholders will also find a specially designed Dooney & Bourke handbag along with several other Passholder Exclusive products such as pins, salt and pepper shakers, and accessories.

Remy’s Ratatouille Hide & Squeak Scavenger Hunt

Finally, guests can help Remy as he ventures around Epcot to collect the ingredients for his signature dish with Remy’s Ratatouille Hide & Squeak scavenger hunt. This year, guests will have 15 spots to look for Remy in World Showcase and Future World.

Look for these items at the Festival Center located adjacent to Mission: SPACE, and at select merchandise locations throughout Epcot. Select items will also be offered on Shop Disney Parks app and the online store.

We have our answer to this question.

I just got my August Passholder e-news, and the only free Passholder gift mentioned is these three buttons (there will be one for each month of the festival) (even though this year, the festival will include parts of four months) (but that is none of my business) :

Note that there are more buttons available if you buy something at one of the new Future World Marketplaces.  But, they're not showing any photos of what those might be.  And, the fact that they say passholders may have a chance to acquire these new buttons after making a purchase is not the same as saying that they're free.  Hmmmm.

 DW and I are thinking of taking a trip to F & W without the kids. I've heard Friday and Saturday's  are crazy.   OursAre the weekends really as bad as I've heard? Crowd levels? Drunks?

 

What about Sunday? Or Monday through Thursday? Are all the booths open during the week?

We have had the best luck noshing around the "World" on Wednesday. Low crowds and easy booth visiting. We try to go for two weeks over Halloween, so take two Wednesday's to visit the booths.

The Halloween decorations go up before the first MNSSHP, and will be up until the last party, when they will immediately switch over to Christmas decorations in time for the first MVMCP.

The Halloween decorations are concentrated around the entry area and Main Street.  There will be pumpkins and fake fall foliage at the entry area.  You will see some scarecrows with pumpkin heads in the Town Square area, and then orange Mickey heads and fall foliage on the light posts on Main Street.  That's about all there is to see.

On party nights, the atmosphere is enhanced with lighting and fog machines.  You might see some of that if you hang around to just before 7 on a party night.
