Shenandoah Valley Campground, Verona VA

Recommended Posts

We're thinking of stopping our first night in this area along I81. Has anyone stayed at Shenandoah Valley Campground in Verona, VA? If so, can you let me know what you thought of it. Thanks for any input.

There is also a KOA nearby in Staunton, VA (Walnut Hills KOA). I usually avoid these, especially for just an overnight stay, but would welcome any thoughts on this campground also.

Thanks.

I joined fort friends just to give my opinion of the Verona campground.

We stayed there for a long weekend in late April 2015.  We live 40 mins north of campground and wanted a weekend getaway.

1st of all the sings once you are off rt 11 are not good (we drove past entrance and had to backup a 32 ft travel trailer).  We were not the only ones as we asked around the campground.

Secondly, there's a LOT of rabbits.  They're cute at 1st, but kinda get old.

Small trout pond was way over-fished.

Bathrooms weren't the best or cleanest.

Putt-putt was in serious disrepair.

There is a small stream behind the campground that folks float down on tubes, which could be fun, and there's a beautiful waterfall.

We know a lot of families that go there in the summer to float the stream and hang out.  They love it.

Overall, we won't be going back and it's just not for us.
