A happy 40 year old got his second Big Green Egg today. All he has to do is cut out a circle on the right side to complete his double table. (large on the left, medium on the right). The medium is lig

Any guesses for what's about to happen?

We had some friends over Sat night and did some steaks (sorry no pics) and my plan is working. My first egg is a small so it is "portable" and it can camp with us. I knew going into this that the small would not cook for much more than our little family and when my wife realized this a larger egg would be in the works. I just didn't expect it to be so soon.... It started Friday night when she told me buying the egg was a great decision despite the cost, asked if we could see our larger propane grill and old electric smoker. Got that done in about an hour Friday night.... Saturday rolls around and friends come over to eat dinner and do birthday stuff for wifey. It gets time for dinner and I get the egg rolling about 600 degrees to start the steaks and whadaya know all of them wont fit :) One of the first things she asked me after they left is if I thought it might be worth having a larger egg at the house for times like this when we need to cook for more than us..... jackpot! I am now watching for a good deal on a large bge for the house.

He said a "Small".

Todd needs a Large for sure.

I might have a line on a large, a "friend of a friend" is moving and hasn't decided if they want to deal with moving it. I have already told them if they decide to get rid of it to let me know first and I will remove it without needing any assistance from them, to make it as easy as possible for them :D

How nice of you!

Todays lunch. Rosemary and Garlic Leg of Lamb. Cooked on the Egg at 300 degrees for 3 hours.

Well I went camping this weekend and missed out on the large BGE....oh well. Hopefully another deal will come my way.

Didn't take it camping this weekend but do intend to do some chicken on it this week for dinner, need to decide what I want to do. Any suggestions?

  • 4 weeks later...

Quick pick from a pork loin for dinner earlier this week.

On another note, we are picking up our new large BGE tonight and will use it to cook dinner this evening for us and some friends. My wife has been relentless about getting another bigger one :)

Didn't get to the bacon weave, but did get this:

It was a bigger deal that it should have been, but it's mine and home.

Had to do something on it since we had it and we decided on fajitas:

I love all the extra real estate on this one, on the small I could have done the chicken or the steak, but not both.

Here is the finished product:

Very happy with the decision to go ahead and get the large, it's going to get used a bunch :D

Whoooo Hooooo!

True story, every time I look at this thread my stomach growls. Not even just an "that looks tasty" or a "I sure am hungry" thought, but an honest-to-goodness physical growl.

I was okay this time until I saw that fajita and it did me in.  YUM!

Guess it's lunch time!

You need to join the cult. LOL!

I considered a BGE but wound up with a Pellet Smoker from Traeger.

I have the Junior Elite, and plan on bringing it when we camp.

the thing i love is that its like an oven, I load the wood, set the temp and let the computer do the rest.

Pizza on the grill, no stone for a more crispy crust

Yum!!! Jason smoke a pork butt and made salsa with veggies cooked on the egg. Both were awesome! I'll have to see if he has some pictures.
