  1. We don't smoke, nor do currently any of our immediate family members. Some family members can't be around cigarette smoke for health reasons. Being around it makes my head hurt and my throat feel like it is closing in. That being said, I understand that it is some peoples' choice and those that do want to quit can have a very hard time doing so. Banning it from restaurants and stores is fine with me - close quarters and hard to get away from. In those instances, smoking patrons will not be there that long and can step outside to smoke it they choose. At Disney, however, that is a full day

  2. I've had a really tough time wrapping my head around this whole thing. I can think of nothing more tragic than what this family is going thru. Imagine the excitement of a Disney vacation changed in an instant by such a tragedy. I am afraid they will never recover from this horrific event. I have seen the fencing pictures and think it will have little to no effect except to distract from the view and quiet the attorneys for a while. I'm a Yankee so grew up without the threat of alligators, but spent a good part of my adult life living in swamps with them. They are stone cold creature

  3. Yes it has happened before but it was 30 years ago so I don't think it has much relevance. What will matter more are people like the attorney in SoCal that says he warned Disney about an alligator being aggressive towards him and his son and the CM response was something along the lines of, "Oh they're just pets" and blew it off. If many more folks come out like that with pictures the lawyers will have a field day. While I don't deny Disney has some culpability and know nothing will ever replace the lost child it was an accident that could have occurred any place in Florida. I'd rather see the

  4. I am the first to point the finger at the Disney corporation when it does something wrong, but I don't think it's fair to point the finger here. Look at what Disney did when the thought there was a threat of bears at Fort Wilderness. They spent a lot of $$$ to install bear-proof trash cans. If a hurricane is heading toward the Fort, they will evacuate the entire campground and pay for guests to stay in hotels at no additional charge. Someone drowned in one of the quiet pools at Pop Century Resort, and ever since, they have been installing fences around their pools, and have lif

  5. My good friend Arthur Lyons (who was very good friends with the brother that was killed years ago btw) was a the Poly Beach watching the MK fireworks (a couple of months ago) and politely went up to some people and told them that splashing and wading in the water was not a good idea because of the gators. They told him to mind his own business. I also have been seeing reports from CM's saying that people are actually feeding the gators too. This usually leads to an attack of an animal or human soon after the feedings begin. Alligators are never tame. They usually lose their lives because

  6. It was a long-standing tradition in the TCD family for us to camp at the Fort in our pop-up the last weekend before school would start each year -and that was always in August. The partial loops are full of pop-ups and tents in August, so no, you will not be the only ones. Definitely get that AC installed. You will be perfectly fine at night, and in the morning. Unless your site is super shady, your AC is going to struggle to keep things cool in the heat of the day, so plan to be at the pool, a waterpark, Disney Springs, resort hopping, or hitting inside attractions at the parks d
