  1. Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, we already have the site tagged with those words, so that's not a reason to spell them out. However, it's probably not a bad idea to spell them out at least the first time you use them in a post, for readability reasons. If we start using acronyms for everything, you wind up with sentences that look like: "FW moved the GC rental pickup from the BB to the FD." which doesn't communicate a darn thing to anyone, whereas "Fort Wilderness moved the golf cart rental pickup from the Bike Barn to the Front Desk." isn't really that much harder to type, and is
  2. You can get them at the Trail's End take-out window, which is also where you can refill them. There's a selection of Coke products available (I believe some iced tea and lemonade options also), and there's a coffee machine as well.
  3. I'm re-reading Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson. It's a neat trick, actually. He wrote Cryptonomicon first, then wrote the Baroque Cycle. But the Baroque Cycle is made up generally of characters who wind up being the ancestors of characters in Cryptonomicon. (Well, except for one character who's in both books, never mind that they're set 300 years apart...) After I'm done with that, I've got everything Terry Pratchett ever wrote waiting for me. He's great.
  4. The board just doesn't seem complete without an authentic, hand-made Mickey Ears Lamppost out in front, does it? Here's a good set of instructions, shamelessly stolen from the good folks over at Walt's Basement. Visit the link there for pictures of the process and more. All the parts you need are available at Home Depot. 5. This topic has been moved to Picture of the Day from Disney and Beyond. [iurl]http://fortfiends.net/forum/index.php?topic=220.0[/iurl]
  6. That way lies retribution, and the dark side. If it's anonymous, then it's a bit more honest, I think.
  7. Hey, everyone. I'm Chris, Jen's quieter half (hard to get a word in, you know... lol). Anyway, I've been at this internet thing for a while, and I've seen splits in communities before. Let me make a suggestion to you: It's really tempting to take shots at the place you used to hang out, especially now that they've kicked the majority of us out and generally made it clear that we're not welcome anymore. It hurts- after all, we spent quite a lot of time there, made friends, had fun, and all that. But we're not part of that community anymore. All we can do is make the best community we can here.
  8. We plan on issuing points early and often, in much the same way Drew Carey did on "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" You have received 5000 points.
  9. Well aren't I a silly site administrator. It turns out to help a LOT if you allow registered members to view the arrows. This internets thing is hard. You guys don't even know how many tubes I had to install to get this thing cobbled together. :o
  10. I noticed while playing around with it that if your monitor is fairly low-resolution (or you have your browser window squinched up, the arrows disappear. *shrug* I dunno- maybe it's the excuse you need to buy a new monitor? ;D Edit: Oh hey I found them. If they're not next to the "quote" button, look under them- at any rate, they should be hanging around up there on the top-right of posts somewhere. What browser are you using, by the way? I know they show up on Firefox and Chrome. I hear that Microsoft makes a browser, but it's pretty bad and you should use Firefox or Chrome instead.
  11. I'm noticing a few questions keep popping up, so here's a stab at a FAQ list for you guys. 1. Why do I have to enter the letters into the little box to post? How do I turn that off? It's designed to keep the spammers away. You'll have to enter the squiggly letters the first five times you post. After that, you'll never see them again. Just bear down and power through it. 2. Hey this dark theme is hard to read- can I change it to something else? Sure. You can click on these here words to take you to a page that lets you do just that. UPDATE! I changed the default theme to something a little cl
  12. You have received a bazillion points. Congratulations! :)
  13. This forum has a new feature I think you guys'll like- the "respect" meter. See the little up and down arrows next to the "Quote" button above each post? Click on the up-arrow to "vote up" a post that you really like. If you don't like a post, you can use the down-arrow to show your disapproval. After a post has reached a score of -5, it will be collapsed down automatically (kind of like posts from people on your "ignore" list on an old forum). Over by your post-count, under your username, people will be able to see your total "respect" score, which is the total of all upvotes and downvotes yo
  14. All templates are capable of using template tags, and as such when you edit any type of template, there will be a "template tag help" link. Clicking this produces a sidebar (there is then a link in the sidebar to open a separate popup) that details all of the template tags you can insert to include IP.Content data within your template. However, with database and article templates, there are additional variables that are passed into the template to allow it to manipulate and display the HTML that represents the content. For instance, different data is retrieved and available when you are look
  15. With IP.Content 2.0, articles and custom databases can now mirror a topic to the forums when a new article or database record is submitted. In doing so, IP.Content can also utilize that automatically-generated topic as the comment "storage" for the article or record. When a comment is submitted to the article, the comment is actually stored as a reply to the topic. Similarly, replies made directly to the topic in the forum also show up as comments for the record. This new functionality can be enabled at a per-database and per-category level. You can specify separate forums for each categor
  16. The media module in the IP.Content 2.0 ACP section allows you to quickly and easily manage multimedia files you may need to use with IP.Content. While you can certainly upload your files through FTP, or link to offsite files, you may find it easier to upload the files using the media section of the ACP, and then copy the links for use within pages, templates, and blocks. From within the media module, you can create folders, upload files, move files and folders, rename files and folders, and delete files and folders. Files can be listed and you can click on a file to view it (or right click o
  17. IP.Content 2.0 uses the term "frontpage" to refer to both the homepage of the Articles module, and the landing page of each individual category. We have introduced this new navigational structure to better allow you to showcase content, while presenting it in a standardized format that your users will be able to understand and jump into without assistance. Firstly, you will now be able to define "frontpage" templates in the ACP for the Articles module. IP.Content 2.0 will ship with 3 defaults: 1x2x2 Layout This layout will display articles in a traditional "news" style layout. Blog format T
