Yep, checking in tomorrow. If it cleared out today, I hope that means one of our requested sites is open. We have a light show to set up!
So wish we could stick around and see it. Hope you get a great site.

No surprise here with Christmas just days away but if your coming in tomorrow just a heads up. The last 2 weeks have been quiet and surprisingly empty. Weekends haven't been horrible either. Hope all coming on have safe travels and a wonderful Holiday. We head back to the cold north tomorrow. If you get site 1820 look for the hidden rock or rocks.

Why is this new? That information is all over YouTube, books, blog posts, the "resident Disney know-it-all" on the monorail/boat etc..
-
Just saw this tonight. The new lot is so nice. Fun to see the carriages in new loops.
-
Not having the kids along makes things move so much faster and gives a totally different feel to the Parks. Sounds like you guys had a good time. Hoping the weather held.

This could make check in a real nightmare. Guess we will find out in 15 days.

Awesome pin finds. My kids are taking notes. Last trip we had kids running through our campsite at midnight screaming, yelling, etc. Parents are at their sites getting drunk and blaring music.

Well we have called it the Fort for years, I guess it's fitting now that they are getting rid of the wilderness. So sad.
Oh my!! 😫😫. Looks like the aftermath of a battle. One of the things so special about the Fort is the feeling of isolation in the mass that is Disney. This is just so heartbreaking. I know trees can be replanted but I have a feeling trees are just going to be replaced by concrete.
Is the walking/jogging path between the Fort and Wilderness Lodge blocked off?

Dress code is definitely loose. When we went last year people were wearing ball caps, cut off shorts, etc.

I am having a hard time picturing were the new playground will be. The area being mentioned seems like a very high traffic area?
-
Better yet make an interactive queue.

Just told my daughter she got very sad and said that's the only swing set. And a few tears.
I thought the one by the dog park had swings?

Anyone have a good photo of the new Tri-circle D ranch concept art posted at the Fort?
-
I am seeing reports that the playground is now closed. Some are saying it is to be relocated, any idea where.

One of the things we love about the Fort is being so close to all the craziness yet feeling like your in the middle of nowhere. These photos are just so sad.

Been there done that. When its busy, they load 8-10 guests in each car, so you get to ride in a confined space with strangers. There's no music or engine noise so there are no private conversations. On one of our rides we got to witness some horrible parenting with a mom saying horrible things to her little 3-4 year old boy who was justifiably antsy, and the hen pecked dad sitting there and pretending nothing was wrong. On another ride we got to hear a 40 year old man mansplain everything about the changes coming to Epcot, the Riveria Resort and the Skyliner. I thought the twins' eyes would roll out of their heads- this guy got so much wrong. They got a huge laugh out of him. On yet another ride, a 60+ year old dude answered his flip phone and had a 10 minute conversation with an equally hard of hearing buddy. We all loved that.

Classic 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Like everyone keeps saying, in the cooler months delays will not be a problem but come the hot months and it will be a different story.
Can you imagine being stuck in the air in a hotpod with a screaming kid, yeah no thanks.

I have been watching video reviews and am super excited to ride. It will be interesting to see if the public enjoys it enough to expand to other areas.

We came out of Cincinnati so we did 71 to 65.
We did not do 65 to 40. .
Take 231 out of Bowling Green then left on RT 25 Dixon Springs Hwy, then left on RT 80 Pleasant Shade Rd, then right on 85 Defeated Creek Hwy, then turn right into the Park
That's about 4 1/2 hours coming from Indy.
Thank you so much, that's exactly the info I needed.
-
Coming from Indianapolis. The Google says to take 65 to the Cave City exit. Then it wants us on Happy Valley Road/90 then on to 249 etc. This route takes us into a bunch of small towns. Total 5 hours
Called the Defeated Creek front desk and they said take 65 down to 40 and over. Then up by Carthage. 7 hours.
Anyone familiar with the drive that can advise?
-
Hopefully it will go south and the parks will empty and besides some rain be perfect.

Also, how are they going to merge the two spaces? The new hotel seems modern while the Fort is anything but. Do you think they will redo Pioneer Hall and the Settlement? Is there any word on adding more campsites to the Fort?

Yup. And on the other side of Pioneer Hall will be a giant parking lot.
I don't understand all of the people who say that they trust Disney, and that they are withholding judgment until the project is finished. They're right that Disney will do a great job on this project, and it will be great. It will be-for all the new DVC owners. But not for guests of the Fort.
So far, it hasn't been too bad. All the work has been confined to the old River Country footprint and behind the 700 loop. But, they're about to turn the bulldozers loose on the petting zoo/pony ride area and the field next to Pioneer Hall. Even then, the impact won't be too bad. But at some point soon, they're going to be walling off all of Clementine's Beach all the way up to the marina. That's going to be bad.

I wonder if they will hold off until after the Christmas rush? All this sounds so sad. I really am trying to see the positive but the more news leaking out the more I cover my eyes and hope for the best.
So last year when we were there the cast members were all excited about the new horse barn. Any idea how that is coming along and if they will, or already have, something like the petting zoo/pony ride?

We thought the same thing about the barn design. Maybe it will be a mix of both Fort and Reflections? At any rate it is all coming along.
