  1. But the cart path there is flush with the ground, so chances of falling over on your bike are less than on the other, higher path. If you were walking, would you like a bike falling over on you?
  2. This was what happened with the NYE fireworks - they obstructed themselves with their own smoke that wouldn't clear out and just kept getting bigger and bigger.
  3. 1200 loop was not for beginners! Giant Frozen confection at Contemporary Olaf looks chocolate, but we're not sure if the rest is "edible" or sand.
  4. Some more pics. Chocolate creation at the WL Gingerbread house at GF And the ingredients Insane site on Loop 1600. My son took the pics here and didn't really get any good ones. They had a walkway around the MH for you to walk around and see everything. Also had a model monorail set up with mini Epcot ball, Cinderella's castle, Cont, & Poly. We wished they had walkways around this one on 1200. Crazy detail.
  5. There were quite a few "legal" fire pits on Loop 500 the two weeks we were there. We love a good campfire, but we did not miss it.
  6. One thing we found out the hard way in Cub Scouts was any tarp or plastic you put under the tent should not be bigger than the tent floor. That will just funnel the water in. So, same size or slightly smaller. As far as the bike thing goes, they do rent them at FW. Not sure if you tracking one down means borrowing one or buying one, so that may be cheaper. Have fun and have a great birthday trip!
  7. They were like 3 sites away from us and had the same last name. They were very big on the Polar Express!
  8. So, we rode our bikes to the Lodge the other day. There is definitely a no carts allowed sign. We did not see any on there either, and there were none parked at the WL side. Slightly related to the other discussion in this thread, let's talk about the paths to the beach. There is the cart path and the pedestrian path. We always rode our bikes on the cart path until the guy directing traffic yelled at us to get on the pedestrian path, which didn't make sense to us, as our bikes were going closer to the speed of the carts than the speed of pedestrians. Seems it would be more dangerous to ped
  9. That is interesting. I'm pretty sure the 29th (around lunch time) is when we rode the boat to MK and got on the monorail and stopped at the Poly & GF. Not once did someone ask to see our MB or where we were staying. Maybe because we were already at MK area? There was a lady with some kids and another lady on the monorail talking on her cell to someone and she seemed shell shocked. She said at least 4 times "this is crazy," and said something about being stuck at Starbucks for an hour. I hadn't heard about any closures and wondered if she was turned away. I think they got off at the TT
  10. One other thing, I was expecting crowds to just be horrible and I never really saw anything worse than spring break. Maybe we just had better timing. I think MK reached some level of closure the last 2 days of the year, but I think it was much worse last year? The campground definitely started getting crazier the last 2 days, but I thought it was supposedly full the whole 2 weeks we were there. I did hear 2 different people on our resort crawls complaining about how horrible it was. Maybe I just had lower expectations? Or they just didn't have the relaxing campground to return to. Oh, al
  11. Well, we are back home and I can't remember most stuff that happened, so this 2nd half report should be shorter. On Christmas day, we got up, opened presents, and then rushed the kids to get to Universal. We went straight to HP Forbidden Journey. Wait was showing as 30 min, but I don't think it took that long. I had taken a Dramamine at breakfast and took another in line as I was getting a little freaked out. My husband kept saying it wasn't bad; he & the oldest (who also gets motion sickness) had ridden it a few years ago. Well, pretty much right away on the ride I knew it would be
  12. Just now reading this, but I saw your site last night and commented on the decorations. Love them!
  13. I agree, I was expecting way worse. I haven't seen any worse than spring break. Maybe everyone stayed away this year.
  14. My boys & I got sent through at HS the other night with no bags. The next morning at MK just I got sent through. I had my clear bag (which BTW has been a big hit with the bag checkers). We got there early enough that I had my pick of bag checker because there was no one at any table, and I was joking around with a couple of them. Then I got sent to the scanner and told that lady it seems like the friendlier you are, the more likely they are to send you through.
  15. Oh, a couple of other things... 1) So far it hasn't been nearly as crowded as I was expecting. Knock on wood. 2) I guess they're not enforcing the over 14 no costumes rule when it comes to cross dressing, as we saw an older guy in full drag, which was some kind of costume-y dress. Maybe they were afraid to say something?
  16. Thanks for the well wishes y'all. Gwen, I hope you are doing better! (I think you were the one with the DVT?) I'm sure that was scary. The pics didn't come out as large as I feared. They do seem to be a reasonable size. Here are some more from the cart parade that just went by. Most people just had Christmas decorations, garland, lights, etc., but this was our favorite. And the back:
  17. Wish I could make these smaller, but not seeing how.
  18. Having a little downtime this Christmas Eve, so thought I would write some things down before I forget! I've already mentioned a lot of this in various other threads, so sorry if it seems familiar. Also, I tend to get a little wordy, so I do apologize in advance. We got up early last Sun. (12/20) to 27 degrees at our house near Concord, NC! Had to pull my parka out for hitching the Jeep up and loading the last remaining food. And ended up wearing it for an hour or two down the road. Headed down to some in-laws in Jacksonville for the night. Got to see the exciting end of the Jaguars game th
  19. Still waiting on the waiting list. Mr. CJH wants me to go check on it today as he is nervous about not having ESPN during bowl season.
  20. We are having the same issue. When I got the modem kit, the CM asked me if my cable was working right or if I needed the box for that. I didn't know as we weren't even in our site yet. There was a waiting list so I went ahead and got on it. (Still waiting.). Our MH is '13 or '14, so the flatscreens we have should be fairly new. My husband switched to antenna.
  21. Brought my own access point and got a modem here, and I gotta say this is the best wifi I've ever had at a campground. I wonder if they will continue to offer a modem kit after they have wifi.
  22. Took us a while to get in our spot yesterday. Tree on one side and hydrant on the other. Probably the worst one we could've gotten put in in this loop. :D My husband had me +at least 4 spectators offering advice.
  23. We have stopped in Darien, GA at Inland Harbor RV park. Maps says it's 4.5, so may be too far for you. But it was right off the interstate, all pull through.
  24. What time were you there? I picked mine up about 12:45. CM told me it was coming but didn't offer any timeline.
  25. Well, we got Loop 500 but that's all he would tell me. Waiting for a site ready text. He said he couldn't give me the actual number in case something went wrong.
