Good grief... why do puppies have to be so darn cute?!   That's how they get you, with their puppy cuteness :P

I know! I had one breeder tell me "don't pick a puppy because it's cute. They're all cute."

Sick, crazy wind and cold, yet still had a great time. I am beginning to think a cruise might be fun. Now I just need to get past the motion sickness.

I have really bad motion sickness (most recently threw up after riding Everest) but decided to try a cruise a few years ago. I took Bonine every night, starting 2 nights before getting on. I also took the bracelets, but only wore them once or twice. I definitely could feel things others couldn't, like when we left port. You could see the curtains swaying in the theater, so it wasn't like it was calm. I think it was at Grand Cayman that we had to take a smaller boat to shore (forgot what that procedure is called). That was kind of bad. but I never got sick.

My worst problem was it took like 4 days once we got home to stop swaying. That's the only thing that gives me pause about doing another cruise.

  3. We have a big rig as well. Have done Preferred, and that site (maybe 302) remains one of the top 2 hardest ones we've ever had to get in in lots of campgrounds. Next time we did Premium and were in 524. I do not recommend that one either. Yeah, it was big enough, but the placement of the trash cans, a tree, and the little green utility things made for a very hard back-in as well.

So while the app is great for showing site size, it doesn't show surrounding issues. Good luck!

  4. We got a new little guy right before Thanksgiving. His name is Winston and he has not been camping yet, but he's been on the motorhome a couple of times at our storage place.  He was afraid the first time but did better the 2nd.  Here's a pic of him in the snow we had in Jan. He's bigger now!  I think he is just over 4 months old (born Sep 28). He's started losing his fuzzy puppy coat and razor sharp puppy teeth, and he loves to chew on anything. Oh, also you can see in the pics he has a stripe above his nose where the fur grows in the opposite direction.

  5. I so wanted to come! I tried recruiting my girls that I camp with, hoping one would bring her camper. But there wasn't any availability when I looked due to the holiday weekend, so then we talked about going somewhere else. Then that never panned out. Now I will be driving kids to soccer games since it looks like my husband is going that weekend to my folks' to help my brothers put a shower upstairs so my barely-able-to-walk-with Parkinson's Dad doesn't fall down the basement steps. Anyhoo, I hope to join you some day! Have a magical time!

Quick, how many bowl games are there this year?

    41!

    That's right- 41.

Here's an article that ranks the match-ups from best to worst.  Some of the commentary is funny:

    http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/18220328/ohio-state-buckeyes-clemson-tigers-college-football-playoff-semifinal-tops-most-interesting-games-bowl-season

The UF v. Iowa Outback Bowl is ranked as #16.  The only comment the author makes about that game is: "First team to 13 points wins, am I right?"

    Savage.

    The truth hurts.

But, all we need is 5 field goals.

    Go Gata!

    TCD

All I care is the Hokies are playing here in CLT, so I will be there! B)

  7. Game #98 in VT - UVA rivalry. Wasn't sure what to expect of the Hokies after this season, and the fact that in the past it didn't matter who was good that year, but luckily the Wahoos are still horrible. In all regards. B)

Now if they somehow mount a huge comeback it will be all my fault.

Well, that was another great weekend of college football.

Nice to know that a top-four team can lose to an unranked team and only drop down to 6th place.  LOL.

What did they put in Auburn's Gatorade?  They absolutely stomped Arkansas.  Wow.  If they keep that up, the Iron Bowl is going to be huge!

Thank goodness Houston was exposed as not belonging in the Top 25.  But it looks like Boise State has taken their place as the underdog darling of the pollsters. Since they don't have a ranked team on their schedule, I guess the plan is to include them in the "Who's In?" conversation for the sake of ratings. They will sneak into the Top 10 when the teams from real conferences play and beat each other.  Oh well, if it wasn't for this manufactured controversy, what there wouldn't be anything else to talk about.  I mean, if we're all being honest, who is going to beat Alabama this year?

The upcoming weekend has some great games!

    Go Gata!

    I don't think anybody.

We usually stop at Pecan Park off of I-95 in Jacksonville, but it was all booked up yesterday. We headed a little further down the road to Stagecoach RV. It's $42/night for a 50amp/water/electric/sewer site. It's a long pull thru (60') and pretty level. We ended up on an end spot and have a great yard. The bad- there's no playground or pool (usually not a problem for overnights, but we're here for 2 nights).

I drove through there once on a scouting mission. It did look pretty level. Other than that I was not impressed.

  10. I don't even have my Halloween decorations out of the attic yet. Maybe I'll skip doing the house this year and just do our campsite Halloween weekend.

It seems every year I have a cold in early-mid Oct. when I want to put them up, and then it pours rain for 3 days after Halloween when I want to take them down.

And the AP voters agree.  This week's poll was delayed until this afternoon, and we now see that VT jumped 8 points in one week up to #17.

Speaking of jumping, by virtue of that one lucky block of a PAT, FSU jumped 9 places up to #14.

This all seems very strange to me.

Like there's some hidden agenda on the part of the voters to keep the ACC teams ranked high this season.  FSU barely beat Miami, and they jump 9 places in one week?  How?

Oh, and War Eagle!   Auburn reenters the poll at #23 this week.

The Gators stayed right in that #18 spot.  I can't complain.  They haven't shown anything to warrant a higher ranking.

    Go Gata.

Maybe just trying to overcome the yearly SEC bias. ;)

PS - Tenn lost and didn't drop a spot?

  12. Just spent the weekend at Carowinds Camp Wilderness with a couple of other camping families. I didn't take any pics whatsoever, not even of our campsite. It rained all day Fri. and until about 4pm on Sat.

As mentioned before, I had driven through, so I knew what it looked like. I think my husband was pleasantly surprised and will go back (hope so, as I bought 2017 season passes for me & the youngest). We were right near a brand new bathhouse. It had 4 individual rooms with toilet/shower. The sites are paved and pretty level. I think they are all pull-through. Ours was long enough for our 40 ft MH and my Buick Enclave. Pretty easy in and out of the parks and right off the interstate. They do not have fire pits but you can bring your own. They do have charcoal grills. We never use those but ours was full of cigarette butts.

They have a shuttle that runs to the park and you can buy discounted tickets in the campground store. On Sat. night the kids (all teenagers) went to Scarowinds and then Sunday afternoon they went to Carowinds for a few rides. Sunday night everyone left (kids were in school today) but me and one of my friends. We had a nice, quiet dinner and then went to Scarowinds by ourselves.

I think we paid $168 for 3 nights. Some other friends came to visit Sat. night and they had looked at renting one of the cabins there - $250 for one night! There is no cable hook-up, but we picked up quite a few antenna channels. They must have fixed the wifi since keith_h was there, because this was easily the best wifi we've had out of many campgrounds. My friend was even watching Netflix all weekend and didn't have any buffering. There was one time during the rain on Sat. it got a little slow, I guess due to everyone being stuck inside.

The campground was way more full than we were expecting, and several people we talked to were evacuees from Hurricane Matthew, incl. 2 guys from Charleston who were there with their miniature horses and would walk them around every so often.
