Greenbriar Campground-Gatlinburg
WrigleysWagon posted a topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
Anyone have any experiance with Greenbriar Campground in Gatlinburg TN? Looking to take a trip coming up, and thought we would try a new place. Seems to get good reviews, but I always like to get some trusted Fiend advice! Thanks. -

We love Smoky Bear! I was just thinking of mixing it up a little this trip down. Sometimes it works out, sometimes you get burned. Just me and my boy this trip, and I thought he might like to play in the creek. Maybe it's better to just leave well enough alone. -
Price increase on drinks and snacks

We have resigned to the fact that a backpack is the new normal for us. I'm not a huge fan, but it's the best we have figured out so far. -

Price increase on drinks and snacks
WrigleysWagon replied to Littleolwoman.aka.Kristie's topic in WDW and Disney Park Discussions
That's probably the goal. Price out the "economy" guests, and target the ones with lots of cash who are willing to let it go. Keeps crowds lower, so lower operating costs, but the revenue keeps coming in. Unfortunate though, if that is the plan... -
Major changes for COE and Govt campground Reservations

Probably had something to do with the Feds fiscal year starting on Oct. 1st. I'm sure it's a budgetary issue. -

Anybody hear why Sammy Duvall's closed down, or if anyone else will be filling that spot? https://sammyduvall.com

Indeed it does. My wife just updated the app, and that's one of the first things she mentioned. -
Full hookup loop request suggestions
WrigleysWagon replied to ccweaver's topic in Fort Wilderness Loops Information
Down here now and got a spot in 1700. Wow, what a great loop. When we checked in the guy said we were given a 1900 spot. He grimaced a little, then ask if we had another preference. So glad, I can't see going back to preferred sites if we can get one of these! -
Smoky Mountain Area Campsite

We really like Smoky Bear campground. It's a little out there on East Pkwy, but not too bad. Maybe 15 minutes to downtown Gatlinburg. -
Looks like you had fun!! We live an hour, hour and half, north of mammoth cave and go there fairly often for quick weekend trips. Last time we stayed at a place called Singing Hills. Pretty basic, but the owners were super nice. Fairly level spots, a big field to play with the dog, swings, and a small pond. We've never stayed at the Jellystone, but I've heard mixed reviews from from friends who have been there. Last we checked they sell a day pass to enjoy the activities even if you aren't camping there. Maybe something to consider...

We are in 343. It's an improved site on the eastern side of the park. Looking forward to it. -

We're headed to Jetty Park campground, in a couple weeks before our trip to the fort. Il let you know what we think if you're interested. -
This is the campground we stayed at this weekend. Second time here, and it really is a nice place. Sites aren't all that level, but they offer wooden blocks of you need them. They also escort you to your site and help you back in. I'm usually not a fan of that but it was a packed house (Ky derby weekend) and it helped. Nice playground, and a large lake. They also have 2 bath houses (a/c and heat) with big individual shower/bathrooms. It's really a nice place to stop if you're coming down I-75, looking for a place around Lexington KY, the KY horse park, or just this area in general.

went RV shopping for 1st time=HELP!
WrigleysWagon replied to busterthebronco's topic in Camper Suggestions: from tents to Class A beauties
Great point! Also remember that you will need water hoses, sewer hoses, electrical protection, levelers, chocks, etc., etc. The list goes on and on. There is a never ending array of offerings for RV accessories. You may not need to buy it all at once, but it adds up quick. And if you decide to buy from a dealer insist that a "starter kit" be thrown in after you settle on a price. It will all eventually be replaced with higher quality equipment, but it will get you going. If buying from an individual consider having someone who does RV service give it a once over. They may charge you a nominal fee, but it could save you big bucks down the road, and offer a little peace of mind. Hope you find something and enjoy! -
Whispering Hills - Georgetown KY
WrigleysWagon replied to WrigleysWagon's topic in Pictures from other Campgrounds
We went there with the intention of going to the Ark, but it was just a bit to pricey for this trip. I would highly recommend this place though. The last little bit of road is pretty rough, but other than that, pretty easy to get to. GPS wanted to take us through downtown Georgetown, but you definitely want to use exit 129 on I-75. Hope you have fun! -

The gentleman's screen name is BayLake Campers. He's still active on the boards. PM sent with more info. P.S. There's also a sticky on the crafting board that may have more info if needed. Hope this helps. -
Updated 4/13 Universal Stepping up their Game Again
WrigleysWagon replied to Travisma's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
With RV ownership on the rise, I wonder if a campground would even be a consideration for them? There seems to be a shortage of campgrounds in the area (at least highly rated ones) especially when you consider how big of a tourist destination the Orlando area is. On that note, would you guys just stay at the fort fro a trip to Universal, or is there somewhere else that would be a little better suited? -

Elizabethtown Crossroads Campground
WrigleysWagon replied to WrigleysWagon's topic in Pictures from other Campgrounds
I had to do some pretty exhaustive research! -
Ok going to try and post some pictures here through Flickr. My son and I stayed at this place in Elizabethtown KY. It used to be a KOA but is privately owned now. We had a good time, even though pretty severe storms blew through one night. All things considered we had a good time and will probably go back sometime.

Golf cart windshield
WrigleysWagon replied to alnauntB's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
The last rules for carts info sheet I saw didn't say anything about them being required, and I can tell you there are lots driving around without them. Personally I kind of like them for when it's raining, or a bus in front of me kicking up dust, sand, etc. -
What the HE double hockey sticks are they thinking!!!!!
WrigleysWagon replied to Travisma's topic in WDW and Disney Park Discussions
Doubt it. Seems they would actually prefer you pay for a site, but not stay there. I'm sure they'd probably be just fine with you mailing a check and staying home too! Pay, but don't use as many services and amenities is a great deal for Disney.
