  1. Anyone gone then for both? I can never get time off in October. I could in mid September, but would the fort be festive then? I'm assuming it would be hot, but would it also be a time for serious rain?
  2. Lol. I shipped two things home. Ornaments form Christmas German markets, a bunch of stuff I didn't need once I reached Rome. I had everything boxed up and the postal service kept asking what was in each box. Then getting it at home a few weeks later was like shipping Christmas gifts for myself- I couldn't even remember everything that I had bought
  3. Well, I've got to say that I love your workplace dress code! New York, I'll probably be staying in a hostel and possibly going down to Philly for part of it on the train. The hostel has laundry and I care less about dressing up than staying warm. The suitcase becomes more of an expensive PITA at that point, because it's not carryon size- I'd have to check it. So not much of a point of shipping the contents home when I'll be paying checked baggage fees for that anyway, plus dragging it to and from the airport. It's a lot easier to take transit without a suitcase that size!
  4. Omg if only I had know about that service a few months ago!! My opinion of the Italian postal service is not a favorable one and so expensive to boot! Thanks! (How did it work for you? Where did they collect your bags?)
  5. Good to know. I tend to run hot. It's running 50-60 here and on sunny days that's shorts and Birkenstock weather. I had thought about shipping stuff home- but is there a post office on property? Also, my chief problem with that is the suitcase. I literally only use it when I'm flying and camping. That's the bit I'd love to ship but I'm suspecting it's impossible or very, very costly. Travisma- I feel you've got to accessorize make that look work. Maybe plaid socks with a Hawaiian shirt? It'll make the crocs really pop. thanks, everyone! Enjoying the firefly talk!
  6. Hi, fiends, I'm baaack. You didn't steer me wrong last time, so I thought I'd ask folks' opinions on the fort in the second week of December. (I'm feeling deja vu so if I have asked before, I apologize humbly. Pretty sure I asked something similar on disboards though, not here). Here's the debate: I love the idea of camping at FW around Christmas. But I also sort of want to hit some seasonal stuff in NYC on my way home. The difference between the values and the fort is about 38 bucks a night. I would prefer to camp. The fort is the main reason I'm considering WDW over LA. Ho
  7. My problem is not PF. But if standing still make it worse, then you won't enjoy segways. I have problems with one ankle- if I can't flex it, I'm in a lot of pain, and I found that Segways are much worse because it concentrates the pressure on one spot over a longer period of time. You can move, but not enough for me. Walking is not an issue, biking is not an issue, but segways make me hobble. I thought I'd enjoy it; I really did not.
  8. DinDavie- well, thank you so much for trying at least! How thoughtful! Yes, I had a yellow tent. I think it was on my 4th day that I found myself seriously contemplating washing clean clothes or riding around on the buses for fun lol. Despite the non refreshing temp of the pools, the one across from my loop was very useful in terms of stripping away that icky feeling layer of sweat and sunscreen. I saw a lot of parents with their kids every time I went, and I have no idea how they stayed out in that heat. Now that takes pluck! In their (and your) shoes, I'd probably be trailing after my
  9. Thanks, Gwen! Travisma- that is a really good price. I think when I go back to Florida, I may do Busch gardens for a day. I was talking to a family on the bus, and it sounds like something I'd enjoy more than Universal. So good to know, thanks!
  10. I think most of my rating to be honest is due to the fact it was towards the end of the brunch period. The food at best was lukewarm. Everything was adequate- nothing was fantastic. There were flies buzzing around. My waitress mysteriously vanished and I had to hunt the hostess down for a drink refill (but this is not a reflection on her abilities- she served me later in the week and she was great then.) It's also not a reflection on Trail's End regular menu- I gave them another chance on my last day, and those chicken and waffles were great, one of the best meals I had on property. Then,
  11. Wow, nice set up. Bummer about the hammock- I was going to say that I really liked it until I saw the bit about it trying to kill you. Didn't realize that other loops had the bear proof ones- I was happy to see the barrel trash cans, and figured the fort had those because there's not serious wildlife around. Do pop ups have cooking space or are they pretty much glorified tents? How do you like having a pop up? I don't know anyone with a pop up- only rvs.
  12. The fan was this: http://m.lightinthebox.com/outdoor-camping-tent-fan-with-luminous-camping-lamp_p2675206.html?currency=USD&litb_from=paid_adwords_shopping&utm_source=google_shopping&utm_medium=cpc&adword_mt=&adword_ct=84538681274&adword_kw=&adword_pos=1o7&adword_pl=&adword_net=g&adword_tar=&adw_src_id=1810908567_303063074_21765995114_pla-171980210714&gclid=CI_Ow9TZ-80CFYVqfgodvPgFCw but it's a battery hog, and I'd probably try to find a plug in one next time. Or buy a Costco size package of batteries because they are hard to fin
  13. Aw, thanks, caveat lector! Glad you enjoyed it travisma- that is really one of my pet peeves. Good for your wife! I'm usually afraid to speak up. I did notice that the heat and line combination brings out the worst in some people. I overheard some truly hilarious/outrageous "parenting" in line...especially the Frozen queue lol.
  14. van camper must have left- that site was empty until the next night when someone arrived to set up really late. I think the twenty somethings were gone (guessing they were noisy?) because those neighbors were pretty quiet and I seem to remember really young kids. As I mentioned earlier- I had some really special folks across from me but they left after a couple days, thank goodness. But one thing about camping in July: it's good that I tend to not take resting days, and I tend to not have serious health issues. I really was only at the site to sleep and change because even the fan
