  1. I live in central IL and have friends who have a house in Cape Coral. Her hubby is thinking of heading down 1st thing tomorrow morning to hurricane proof their house. His wife and I think he's totally nuts. We live through tornadoes and he thinks it won't be any worse than that. Will he even be able to make is there?
  2. Coming from Central Il we take 55 to 4 to 64 to 57 to 24 to 75. Definitely get past Atlanta before stopping. We usually hit it at night and go through downtown. The bypass is just as busy and about 45 minutes longer. We have a motorhome so we usually use truck stops or rest areas to sleep. And yes the police are always horrible in Atlanta.
  3. Best: The family camping together and relaxing. Worst: The 19 hour drive home and price.
  4. A colleague of mine returned to work today from running the Disney marathon for the first time. She was so impressed by how organized everything was and the amount of people participating. When I told her that I knew of somone running with a bike she asked me to pass this on to you. When she was hot and tired and wondering how she would finish, she would see one of you guys on the bikes and you would give her the inspiration to push through it. You guys were going through alot more than she was and still participating. When I told her you were a disabled vet she wanted me to thank for you
  5. We really liked 1439, to the left of the comfort station when you're standing in front of it. Go out the back of the site and you're right there. We couldn't hear the movie while in the camper. Nice large site.
  6. We stay overnight in truck stops and rest areas in our MH, but we also don't leave home without our 2 friends Smith and Wesson.

  8. Mickey bars at the trading post a must! Expensive but oh so good!
  9. We bought 10 day park hopper tickets about 5 years ago with the waterparks and more and non expiring options. We still have 3 days left on each of our tickets. When we go to the Fort we usually spend 10 days and only 2 days at the parks. Park hopping is a nice option. It was a ton of money up front, but the way the prices have increased well worth it. Our granddaughter is now 13, (first trip when she was 1) and now prefers more Fort time. After a few trips (trust me this will not be your only trip) you will have your favorite things to do and being able to park hop gives you that freedom
  10. When we take our 2 Shitzu's camping we leave them loose in the motorhome with toys. They are use to being home during the day by themselves so it's not a problem.
  11. My first trip was in 1990 and my DH was in 1974. We have gone every year since 1990 except for 2 times. We started with our son and a friend of his and now it's the son, wife and granddaughter. When we mention going to the Fort they are right there ready to go. They said they don't care how old they get if we're going they are too. We missed last year because of dh knee surgery so we are really looking forward to our 1st Christmas at the Fort.
  12. That is awesome. We've had a neighborhood cat for a few years but she never had babies. Then we noticed she was getting really fat and found that all the neighbors were feeding her. Our next door neighbor finally took her in. My hubby, son and granddaughter are all allergic to cats, plus we have 2 dogs who spend all there time barking at her.
  13. I got sick once on a cruise and they had me eating green apples and crackers and it actually worked. The cook and the room steward loaded us up on them. I was sick of green apples but i sure did feel better.
  14. Wow Lou you are very special to do this for a stray animal. Most people would look the other way. :heartsmiley:
  15. Love your report. Been to the San Diego zoo (it was the best zoo I've ever been to) and the Coronado Hotel. Couldn't afford to stay there either. Bought a drink and enjoyed the beach. I feel like i'm running trying to keep up with you two! Love the pics.
  16. We use to belong to the snowbirds club. You had to book for a minimum of 30 days. The rate was good for January 1st to Presidents day weekend. They would have a meeting in Feb every year to announce rates. There were only so many openings and if u didn't use it 1 year you were dropped. The last year it was available we paid 28.00 per nite. I would love to see those rates again.
  17. Love the picture of Josie. Glad to see you have a new member of the family.
  18. We have a Gulfstream motorhome and are having plenty of issues. We are currently fixing the back wall of the motorhome which is pulling away from the frame. The 1st year we owned it we had to take it back to the factory to be worked on and then they informed us some of it was not under warranty. We were Fleetwood dealers for over 20 years, Starcraft before that and never had the factorys fight us on warranty issues. Took us over a year of constantly calling Gulfstream to get a wiring diagram of the mh. The a/c blew hot air instead of cold and they told us nothing was wrong. DH finally fi
