Fort Fiend Friends, my family will be taking a trip to Ft Wilderness this year and I am wondering if you all have recommendations about good sites in the 1500 loop. We will be in a PU. I would like to be close to a comfort station, but not directly next door to it, with good shade trees so we can set up a tarp over the PU (we have a leak), somewhat private, not close to the main road because we have two young kids, and I would prefer not to back up to water. Tall order! Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I called today about the solar covers, plan to buy a set and get a good fan too. May replace the AC unit prior to the trip. We plan to chill at the pool when we are not at MK or in the golf cart! -

I had also thought about taking the kids and husband for one day to the Weekee Wachee (spelling?) to see the mermaids. -

Thanks, TCD. I had seen those solar covers and have really considered getting some. -

Thanks, Carol! I'm sure we will be fine but I just don't want to get that "I told you so" look from my husband, who doesn't love the heat! Also see you're from HVL, AL. That's where I was raised! -
Hello, all. I'm new to the site! My family just got a used pop-up tent camper and I booked a four-night stay at the Fort the next-to-last week of June. Our pop up has a used AC unit, and we are planning on getting another one to supplement. My question is this: is pop-up camping in June in Florida unbearable because of the heat? We will have our two young children with us. We were there two years ago in early July and stayed at the Hilton Bonnet Creek and only went to MK one day. It was super hot then, but manageable because of the hotel's AC and pool. We're planning on only one day at MK agai
