We have been on several Disney cruises. At Port Canaveral we carried on in a collapsible cooler about 60 beers. they want it to fit in the security screener for you carry on. We stopped at Key West and just carried on 2 more cases of beer (no questions asked) I took a 5th of Vodka on in my carry on. (FYI we were with a large group) I love that if you want a glass of wine or a pre dinner drink in your room you don't have to hide it. For those of you that think you will buy it on the ship at the duty free shop DON'T. They hold those purchases until you disembark.
[This is Dave.....I'm on INC's tablet and don't remember my login.]
I'm glad you pointed out you were with a large group. 108 beers and a fifth of vodka is a lot even for a Fiend. :rofl3:

I am married to Christy. INC is the hot chick I do my traveling with.
:heartsmiley:

Great update, but why is Christy missing?
Who is this Christy you are referring to....I thought he was married to INC.

Final Night continued....
Did anyone notice how Stella is holding her dress? Think maybe she has met a princess lately?
-
I will be sitting on the beach with INC. "Sven the Cabana Boy" will refill our fruity drinks and we'll let Anna bury us in the sand. :)
Yes, sounds perfect.
-
Oh Lou, I just love you so, so, very much. :heartsmiley:
-
Yeah, that restaurant was not great...but I think we were all so excited nobody cared.

:argh:
I'm like Rodney Dangerfield. I don't get no respect. Now I've got INC piling on.

I know you have a cousin or Uncle in the Florida area that is good with photo shop, I doubt that any of those lovely daughters would condone this type of mischief
Are you kidding me? They are in on every part...and he is teaching them all he knows. Which right now is not that much...... but I'm sure his mischief skills will increase as the years go by. Right?... my love? I love you.

Really loooovvve the bumper sticker.

:yay: Enjoyed it, Thanks.

Well my fine Fiends, I do believe we have reached the end of this report.
I really enjoyed sharing my family's trip with you all. I am thankful that you all came along for the ride. It was a lot of fun for me! Let's see...we have gone back in time to 2008 Russia, we have had a "Magical" trip down in the DaveInTN family church van fun bus, we had surprise park passes from my awesome cousin, we were scared half to death by a psycho Ariel, we went to Chef Mickey's and watched Anna assault Donald, we went on a secret mission to rescue a moose, we gave birth to a meat baby, and we rode ponies and horses and fished too!
But the highlight of the trip??
Spending time with Fiends, of course!!
I have to say, the time we spent visiting with Fiends was awesome. And the evening of TITWIT was MOST awesome for me!
What a blast we had!
And so, this trip report is over.
But before we wrap it up and send it to the vaults, there is one thing I wanted to set straight.
You see, there was one thing I wrote about in this trip report that was not completely on the up and up.
It has to do with a certain moose, and a photoshopped picture.
Do you remember my account of how this picture came about?
Remember I told how it was so dark backstage, that I couldn't see Melvin and didn't know he was there until seeing the picture after we got home?
Well, I lied.
It was plenty light back there. INC called me out, and she was right.
I saw Melvin just fine.
What, you were thinking I made the whole thing up? To the contrary. We found Melvin. And Izzy posed for a picture with him. That photo above was not photoshopped.
So what WAS photoshopped??
Well, ya see, I couldn't just leave the poor guy hanging blindfolded on the wall. So I snatched him!
We covered him up with some old HDDR costumes and ran for it. And once we got him outta there, he became quite chatty. He told me he had been hanging back there since 1987. He told me how much he HATED kazoos. And he told me about a lifelong dream of his. Which I was determined to fulfil. Melvin wanted to ride Space Mountain.
So you see...the picture in question that was photoshopped was actually this one.
You see how my hand doens't look natural? The one pointing to my daughter looks funny, and there is a strange brown splotch above it.
I altered the pic because the original is just too darn shocking. And incriminating.
But I don't care.
You all deserve to know the truth.
Melvin is Free!!!
And he wanted to ride Space Mountain.
So we made his dreams come true.....
He had a blast! He wanted to ride again. But Disney security showed up soon after this pic was taken, so we had to hightail it outta there.
Melvin is now a free moose, living in an undisclosed location under an assumed name.
Don't be surprised if he shows up at a future GG. He is a Fiend, afterall. Just be aware of one thing. That moose has a flatulance problem. So don't give him too much beer. And by all means, don't give him punch. Try to limit his fried chicken consumption. And be prepared for one thing. He just might ask you to ride Space Mountain. Go for it.
I'm not sure how much I like that you have your arm around that moose.....looking all happy. Are you sure Melvin is a Melvin and not a Martha?
-
We love you Lorna!!
We were beyond hysterical at this point. In fact, I remember laughing so hard that I was wiped out. I think we turned in for the night shortly after this. Completely happy and satisfied.
The night before Thanksgiving was a blast. TITWIT was a success. We need to do it again next year.
:rofl2:

I would have to agree with that ruling. Go Emma!
Apple doesn't fall far.

Well, as long as my computer is working, I may as well carry on with this report.
We left off on Wednesday night.
I know that the beer tasting had moved over to the 1600 loop, but we were heading over to the MK.
First, we had a visitor to our site.
It was a Fort ranger.
He gave us this:
This guy was actually going around our loop passing out these guides.
At about 9:30 on Wednesday night!
The funny thing is that I had asked about an activity guide for Thanksgiving when we checked in. The castmember told me that there wasn't one. That was strange, because they print these up for all the major holidays lately. I figured maybe they weren't ready yet. So, just that day we has stopped at the Bike Barn to ask if there were any special activities planned for Thanksgiving. Since a lot of the activities are based there, I figured that castmember would know. The young man working there said that as far as he knew, there wasn't anything special planned for Thanksgiving. Well, that was that, I thought. Until the elderly ranger came around our loop at 9:30.
And people say that I am unfair in my criticism of the way the Fort is managed?
Anyway, I was happy to see the activity guide.
But, I also noted that they have reverted to calling what they had been calling corn toss back to Cornhole.
And, they were going to have a scavenger hunt!
And the thankful board was going to be back.
Hooray!
After this little surprise, we headed down to the dock.
I usually do a better job at timing these things, but we arrived while the EWP was still performing.
We enjoyed that thoroughly, as we always do.
I can't imagine how anyone would not like this:
Since our boat was waiting for the EWP to clear, we were able to board right away and head to the MK.
As we cruised along, the MK fireworks began. We got to enjoy those all the way to the dock, and they were still going on as we walked up to the MK entrance:
One thing that we came to see that night was the show that they have been projecting on the castle all year- it's called The Magic, The Memories and You. This was the big deal for 2011- they project photos and videos on the castle. We have only seen this a couple of times. We weren't overly impressed.
I really thought that they would not be able to do this show with the Dreamlights on the castle.
But, they can and they did.
Here is what we saw:
First, the castle is lit with the Dreamlights:
Then, the show begins-
Supposedly, they project photos that were taken during that day up on the castle. And, I think some of them were, but most of these photos and all of the videos seem like they are used in every show:
At the end, they added some holiday themed projections:
I thought this one, making the castle look like a gingerbread house, was really good:
I ended up being glad that we spent the time to watch the show.
I think it's cool that they can transform the castle like that.
Even with all of the lights on it.
We spent a bit of time wandering around the MK after this, and rode a couple of the attractions in Tommorowland.
We finished up our night with some ice cream from the Main Street ice cream parlor.
What a great way to finish a great day.
We headed back to the Fort from here and called it a night.
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and we will have a very busy day!
TCD
Love the castle pics! I had heard they added some very cool features to castle during the fireworks show.

You actually have to have some fat on your butt to notice a difference, skinny minnie!
Thanks, that comment is like a Christmas miracle.
-
Well it's about time fat lady who sings bad! :rofl2: Hey, you said this was the only time we could say that!
(For those that haven't met Pam, I have. She is not fat, and I've never heard her sing, so I don't know if it's bad or not.)
Great start! I feel your pain with the towing situation. If you have read any of my report, you will learn that while it may be scary, it is good for the gluteus maximus. :moon:
How come my butt doesn't look better after a stressful drive?

I have PTTTD too. Only in my case it's PTMHD. It gets even worse when we're going over a long bridge or (heaven forbid) a construction zone with barriers on each side. I do a lot of reading, shutting my eyes, praying ...
This is a great start to your TR. Can't wait to read more!
Oh and I thought I was the only one with this Disorder. So glad to hear I'm not alone or crazy....well maybe not alone at least. We should start a support group.

It's always been a dream of mine as well. If you have any doubts about the lifestyle and whether it would work for your family, how about taking off on the road for the entire summer next year. Don't treat it like a vacation; work your jobs and go about it as if it were permanent. This would give you some indication of whether it works for you without pulling the kids from school until you are sure. (Unless you already homeschool....I don't remember if you do?) If it works out, you could either go back home and put the kids in school until you are prepared to hit the road again and homeschool them, or if you have a roadschooling plan already prepared with curriculum ready to go, you could just stay on the road at that point.
One other consideration if you do this. Decide now where you want to maintain permanent residence. The homeschooling rules are different for each state, at times vastly different. You want to ensure you follow the appropriate record keeping requirements, including registration with an umbrella if necessary. Maybe look into joining the Homeschool Legal Defense Association http://www.hslda.org/ if you are not already a member. They can help sort those questions out.
Also, if you really undertake this and don't plan on returning to CT, cut that cord as soon as you can for tax reasons. Establish permanent residence in a state that doesn't bleed you dry!
Good luck Whip!
We didn't roadschool, but we did homeschool for 3 years. I can say it was the best 3 years. It was not always easy, but totally worth it. We were able to take them away from the craziness of life and concentrate on what is most important: God and family. Friends and sports are great, but the bond you will create with your kids is one they will remember always. I also feel that being home gave the kids a very strong sense of self, a confidence to love who they are. This has served them well since re-entering public school.
We did take one 3 week trip in our RV. We hit a lot of the locations that we studied in American History. It was an awesome trip.
Long story short, I think a year on the road with your kids would be the best thing you could ever do for them.

Ya know, I liked it better when you posted from the ipad and couldn't use smilies.

this is DIT on INCs ipad...I still haven’t figured out the login on this thing lol.
Your brother must have gotten depressed to see what has become of the media. Old school journalists are rare these days.
