  1. Thanks Cindy for the info. I use my mother's dutch oven( from the 1930's) for lots of in-house cooking. It's like 2 frying pans, a deep one and a shallow one that is also used as the lid. The bottoms are flat so it's not made for camp cooking. But I bet I could figure out a way to use it for pies. Tho, might not want to get all that charcoal on something used in the house, but sure sounds tasty. Do the pies have a baked on charcoal flavor? I do know the type of dutch oven you use. Thanks for the easy to do receipe too.
  2. Nice TR sure showed a lot of family time and fun together. Now about those pies... "eating a freshly baked pie ( Sat was Mixed berry pie, Tuesday was Apple/cranberry pie, Thursday was Pumpkin and Sat was Mixed berry again by request). YUMMY!!! We carry a cast iron dutch oven w/ us and I love to bake. ;D" Was hoping someone would ask for receipes and how you bake them in the dutch oven? So there..it's asked. Do you mind sharing...please :)
  3. Well rats! i was just thinking "bet the pineapples taste good" :)
  4. Koodos to your Mom, Rita. She's right, it does look like fun and so does the Isle of Rita :)
  5. Started reading this TR last night and took a few more hours tonight to get to this point. Really enjoying it. I grew up in Arlington and once, a cousin and I walked up the stairs of the Washington Monument. Set in the outside walls of the stairwell are stones and placques from a lot of the states ( do not have a clue as to how many states) My memory is that some of them are on the tacky side...but we still had fun. Was a long hike up those stairs, most people rode the elevator. We were beat at the top and when the time came to head down, we took the elevator also. It's a neat memory and
  6. Oh no, might have to invest in a Belgian waffle maker looks good..sounds easy
  7. Just a little up date. A lot of rehabbing is going on at JP. A bunch of new sites have been added, the roads have new layer of coquina shell nicely packed, and 8 cabins have been added to the park. Looked like new slides at the playground. DH and a couple of his friends camped at JP for a weekend convention of wargaming (with minitures) in Cocoa Beach. Lots smaller cost than staying in a hotel. After the guys left, I joined DH on Sunday afternoon. Park was about empty. But so much has been done. Rest rooms fixed up, new shuffle board courts, gazebos, electric hookups. All the new si

  9. What a shame the man had to be such a creep. Ooooh even reading about him gives me the shivers.
  10. The weather down here is beautiful. A small dab of fog this morning, quickly gone, and now sunny with high fluffy clouds. Temps in high 60s to low 70s. I know, that's heat wave territory. But Wait! a few days from now we are suppose to be getting temps in the 80s. Now I know that will be heat wave temps for our doddle. Safe travels!!
  11. I vote for Jetty Park too. And you get to watch the Disney ships come and go, depending on what days you are there. It was my favorite spot to watch shuttle lift offs. You might get lucky and see some kind of rocket lift off. Never know.
  12. I love that yellow awning, it looks like it was custom made for your TT.
  13. We've got some rain and wind today, not as much as perdicted, at least not yet. Should be dry and sunny and have the pollen washed out of the air when you get here.
  14. Great trip report Steph, thanks for taking us along on your amazing Christmas gift trip. Country and bluegrass bands I have met always seem so down to earth---just plain ol' good people.
  15. Never MD, nothing for you to be embarrassed about. i think it's a cute little cabin. Anyone know why WDW didn't go with that design?
  16. What a wonderful way to begin married life ! Thanks for taking us along with you. So much good happened to you, I hope your whole life is filled with such great surprises. Thanks for the photo of the castle in MK. To me, the castle has never been prettier. Loved the lights that made it look like it was iced over. Holy crap fits the bill.
  17. Glad I decided to read some TRs, this is great. Very good story telling. The kiddos are so cute, loved the smiles.
  18. So sorry for the loss of your wife and the kids' Mom. Life isn't always easy and you've sure hit a rough spot, but the way you and the kids are going on, planning new adventures and making more memories will help you all a lot. God's Blessings on all of you.
