The Castle Guy reacted to keith_h in The key to getting the same site each time (specifically holidays) is
It might have something to do with when the reservation starts. We've gotten the same site two years in a row. I suspect it has to do with they fact that we check in on Sunday after many folks check out and long enough before the big holidays that we are in a down period. Based on the number of empty sites I saw in 1300 during the week we stayed it probably would have worked for the first few days of the week if the request was in early enough. In other words there were enough empty sites they could set a couple aside for folks who had a specific site or specific area requests.

Ok. I have read all the posts here. Still not seeing it. Is there an actual date in December for the Grand Gathering?
    Thanks!

Took a spin through the Grand Floridian lobby today and saw the gingerbread house construction. Bonus - they were giving out free gingerbread samples!

I'd say 10-15 minutes is plenty.  I'd expect if I got held up for some reason that someone would move my stuff too.  As long as they're nice about it and don't toss it on the floor, it's all good.

    I believe it.

As the details of Disney Springs keep emerging, one thing is becoming very clear -they definitely need some more bars there.  I mean, don't they only have like 20 or 30?  People need to drink, man.

Really! I finally get to see your castle and set up. That would make my Christmas right there.

The Castle Guy reacted to ftwildernessguy in Turkey Legs: A Fort Fiend's Poll
Of all the tasty treats you can get at WDW, the turkey legs are the finest. I love the things. I love the grease running down my arm. I love feeling like Fred Flintstone while I eat one. I love the pieces of turkey meat getting caught between my teeth so I can suck them out if I get hungry on Pirates later in the day. I love smacking unruly kids in the head with the bone. I love making noise when I eat them and tearing the meat off like some Neanderthal, making young girls turn away and vomit in disgust. It is everything that makes a man happy to be a man. I would eat them if Bobby doubled the price. 12 bucks is a deal. There has to be 5 lbs of meat on the things. The mark of a true turkey leg connoisseur is the greasy faced smile and the dirty Mickey t shirt he wears from wiping his greasy hands on it.

I make it a point to stay out of other people's "stuff", but I'll say this...

....if you generally enjoy life here - the info., most of the people, the camaraderie, etc., - please don't let any one person chase you away.

Remember the old "baby & bath water" adage?

If one person rubs you the wrong way all the time - put them on "ignore" and save yourself the headaches.

If it's a particular incident, and you otherwise really do enjoy life here, PLEASE take the time to contact the person directly and see if you can work it out.

While Snarky may be our credo, the other thing that sets us aside from other forums is that we don't have moderators issuing points and bans and censoring every word every person posts here.  If folks think that "the powers that be" are going to swoop in and mediate personality or other issues between members... well, you'd be wrong.

Shenanigans aside, the expectation here is that we're all grown-ups (more or less) and can and should work out our differences as such.

By the same token, post count aside, FF isn't any one person or group's personal playground.  It belongs to all of us and it is what all of us make it.

That said, I know FF isn't for everyone, and that's absolutely ok.  No one place is or should try to be.

And if you truly believe FF isn't your cup of tea, then I personally wish you well wherever you land out in the cyberspace.

I must admit that I've had my nose tweaked by more than one person on this board but it was always in good clean fun. There was once or twice that I was really offended and was going to leave. But a wise women lovingly told me I was wrong for taking offense. I counted to ten and went back and reread the posts and realized I over reacted. And the other poster over reacted to me. I apologized, he apologized and all is well with us.
I'm not saying any one over reacted or any one was right or wrong. I'm just saying maybe if the two posters who were involved in this exchange would take a deep breath and count to ten they might see the other persons side. Right or wrong.
And perhaps the rest of us can let the two posters handle it themselves thru PMs, because it might seem like we are taking sides.
I've met Lou and know he's a super guy.
I haven't had the opportunity to meet Santa...Shannon but I find it hard to believe that someone who brings joy to little ones as Santa can't be anything but a super guy.
That's my two cents. Thank you

For 3 weeks at Christmas, I've got a Cinderella's Castle, Tinker Bell, great Disney music, all at my campsite. And I get to meet lots of Fort Fiends.

The Castle Guy got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in Sad to leave
It was sad leaving the Fort this past Tuesday. We saw many Fort Fiends in the past 2+ weeks. Everyone enjoyed the Castle show. All the sleigh ride drivers stopped by on Monday night to say goodbye. I had tons of cookies & treats given to me, from fans of the castle (I am honored).
Thanks for all the great memories.........

The Castle Guy reacted to DisMe in Class C vs Class A...help!
We have 4 kiddos and have a Class Super C (Diesel) Jayco Seneca.  We have the bunk model.  We also looked at the Leprechaun.  It's a beautiful unit.  The thing I have issues with on Gas models is often the couch is seated next to the stove. I have a toddler and was concerned about him climbing up on to the couch and touching a burner. I Love 5th wheels and the space it offers and many models have a separate quad bunk room (as well as the TT models) and u-shaped dinettes (all of which is on our wish list!) but for us, we travel so much for work we didn't want our kiddos to be strapped down in car seats for 8 hours at a time. Also stopping for restrooms and eating really slowed us down so a MOHO was the only logical option.  Don't get me wrong, we LOVE our Rig but we did give up some "Home Comforts" to accommodate the number of hours we have to spend in it traveling.  I have found that it is such a personal decision on what works for each family.  I will also agree with everyone who has suggested used.  It really is amazing what is out there.  We were pleasantly surprised with the number of units that were for sale with very low miles and a fraction of the cost (including ours!!!)  keep us posted on what you pick!
