I was waiting for the bus yesterday and saw this sign talking about the FWRR.  Since I am a HUGE fan of the railroad, I had to snap up a picture.  I didn't see it when I was at the Fort in February.  I thought it was super cool.
 
 

We just came back from the Fort on 8/30.  The beach area is restored and lounge chairs are back in the sand and tables and chairs on the deck. One thing we noticed is that we could barely hear the talking/music from the show.  Seemed like the only speakers were back by the main path. 

Our youngest daughter graduated from KSU back in 2011.  She loved it there!!!

I can’t wait to see you! 

Toby and I might be able to join you.  If we don't end up camping, I'll at least stop by for a visit.  We're only about 20 minutes away.

While I love the current Splash Mountain theming, I am ok with this change.  Most kids today have never seen or heard of Uncle Remus and the Brer Rabbit stories, and cannot connect.   Like Mr. Toad,  Uncle Remus' time has passed.  The Princess and the Frog also has great songs, and I'm hoping to be able hear 'Gonna to take you there" with Raymond.  I got so attached to that bug.  

You could purchase regular tickets through Jason, then upgrade upon arrival.

True. Although thanks to the internet, Disney usually finds out about the loopholes pretty quickly and eventually closes them.
 
Good points, Ray. At least Disney quickly closed the loophole where you could book multiple reservations at the same time.
We've often gotten ADRs at really popular restaurants the day before/morning of and I'd bet it's largely because of people cancelling their "just in case" reservations.
 
We don't book a lot of ADRs these days but I will often book "just in case" FPs for popular attractions based on where we "think" we're going to be that day. But because we more or less wing it day by day, we don't use a lot of them.  I do cancel them as soon as I know we're not going to use them - usually that morning when we decide we're going to another park or are not going to get there in time.  
I suspect other people do the same which is why you can sometimes get "day of" FPs also.

We are DVC members and started camping regularly at Fort Wilderness 4 years ago. In that time I think I have been able to get 2 reservations on points.
I asked a couple of the folks at the DVC kiosks about the small time frame allowed for DVC members to make reservations and was told that since technically Fort Wilderness is not part of the DVC family  we (DVC members) get the table scraps in terms of available reservations. I have complained to whoever will listen but no love.
As such my wife and I have tried a different approach that is working very well.  Since we prefer our rv to the hotel rooms at this point we have leased our yearly points through one of the companies that offer this service.
The result has been that we have no problem making reservations since we are cash customers and the leasing of the points more than covers all of our costs.
A shame that we have to do this but this is the corner that Disney has pushed us into.

About a year ago, Jason decided that he wanted a timed to music light show, and we decided we’d bring it to the Fort. Jason learned the software... we picked songs... he bought, built, and programmed. 
Today is opening night, and it’s been a hit! For those who can’t make it, here are some clips. I’ll try to post some of the other songs too. I’m really proud of his hard work! 
 
 
 

I have a list going for clients already for those dates. They started booking back in August and it fills up quickly. Things do shift and change and people do cancel. It's just a matter of your or your travel agent checking, checking, checking for you. 

Better yet build one in Brazil, that would alleviate a lot of the crowding and chanting issues.

I downloaded the app to my iPad the other day, but didn't play around with it until yesterday while we were on the road. While checking out the sites that I requested (840 or 841) I realized that our motor home won't really fit on 840 (it's 40 feet long and the RV is 39 feet). So I called the front desk this morning and told the CM my dilemma...only to find out that they had assigned us a site in the 500 loop!!! The CM was great! He would call out available site numbers and I would use the app to check them out. I picked a site that sounds like it will work for us, and hopefully we will get it when we get there. I'm so glad I had the app so that I could check the site out before we arrived!!! Thanks, Jen and Chris!
