I don't think it would be weird as it offers both of you something you can enjoy.

    Thank you for your response.

Not weird at all.  It's very mentally satisfying to accommodate the abilities of each person in a couple, even if that means you experience it separately.  It also gives you great conversation fodder, since you will each have different perspectives.

Thank you. That was my thought as well.

  2. So this August will be our 25th wedding anniversary. Since I work for the local Catholic school and our school year starts back the first week of August doing something then is not possible. However, we have a nice long fall break the first week in October. So Steve and I are booked on the Norwegian Bliss that week. Thanks to Jason for helping me in getting that booked.

Our ports include Juneau, Skagway, and Ketchikan. We also have a day cruising through Glacier Bay.

So I have a question. Would it be weird for us to do separate excursions for the Mendenhall Glacier? Steve is more active (better physical condition than me) and I was thinking he might really enjoy an excursion that included a more strenuous hike.

  3. I don't know about the rest of y'all but I am missing our annual sometimes even biannual grand gatherings. Places we have gone before include Defeated Creek (Carthage, TN), Desoto State Park (Fort Payne, AL, Montgomery Bend (Burns, TN), Stone Mountain Park (Stone Mountain, GA) and also another one near Lake Lanier I believe.

I am open to any of those or trying somewhere new.

Maybe we could find a place that also has cabins available for those who no longer have campers and are not fond of tent camping.

So who is on board with me?

  4. This gathering is just two weekends away. I can’t wait to see everyone. If you haven’t reserved a spot there are some tent/pop up sites left that you can book online. If you need another site category, you will need to call about availability.
There are some Camper Rental, Yurt, and Safari Tent sites available. I called yesterday to find out.
If you are local and just want to come by to visit, we would love to see you.

I am sorry to report I am going to have to cancel. I can not find an affordable way to get down there with us still only having one car. Sorry everyone.

I am pretty bummed. But I also have a two week plus stay at the Fort in October so I can do more TA exploring that I need to keep the money for too so I had to make a call. 😞

Sad, but in the whole picture of things I think you are making the right decision.

  6. Oh I 100% agree about taking the boat over to MK. It is so relaxing. A couple summers ago I went on a trip with my girls. We stayed at ASM. We had to take the boat over to the Fort from MK just because I missed it so much. Oh we got some dinner while we were over there because my daughter absolutely loves getting chicken at the Fort.

  7. Taking the time to just walk the trails at AK is something I keep telling myself I need to do. It seems like I am always rushing off to do something else in the park or hopping over to another park. This past January when I didn’t do any park hopping (day at MK and day at Epcot) I think I began to understand why people might choose not to park hop. The slowing down opened my eyes to so much.
Looking forward to seeing where you are headed next.

Along with the fact that there is NO enforcement of the KEEP RIGHT law.  Far too many people drive below the posted limit in the left lane whether it be on I-4, 27, 192 or any multi-lane road with a vast majority on their phones so people weave to pass.   I also agree with Andrew this state has the WORST planning and zoning that I have ever encountered not only at the State level, but also at the County level.

Alabama recently also adopted that law about keeping right. It doesn’t seem to be followed here either.

I didn't think it was either, unless they let Resort Guests book reservations before they bought their tickets.

I didn’t know it was possible to get a reservation without a park ticket.
i wonder how they did it?

I have no clue, but look at the current availability for May for all three tier groups and it does make you wonder what is going on.
