  1. Continuing on we turned north. We were going to drive through Monument Valley on our way to our campground for the night. We did not go into the actual indian reservation to get closer to monument valley's structures. Roads arent to good in there from my research and it takes a while to get out and back. So we just took pictures form a distance. Made it into Utah! I have heard of free range chicken but that's a little scary on a 70 mph road. Thankfully you can see a really long way down the road out here. Our home for the evening. Camping in the site next to us was a
  2. The campground was ok. The back area really makes it. Otherwise there are not many sites, no shade, and the bathrooms are very old. clean but old. Still a fun stop. We have quite a bit more to see. Just wait. Thanks! I don't think we can top it but we do plan to revisit some of the places. There is also a lot of the country left to see. Once we retire we definitely plan to get a camper and drive to different parts of the country, set up shop for a couple of months in an area and really explore it.
  3. Sounds like exactly the way my grandfather would have handled it. Complete with the dumbass award.
  4. Glad I wasn't the only one. Funny enough my wife had no clue what I was talking about till I showed her the clip.
  5. I remember in your previous trip report you went to the north rim. I will definitely have to go to that side next time around.
  6. Ding Ding Ding!!! We have a winner. Sorry the only clip I can find is not in English. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQJH5tZLGis
  7. Bonus points if anyone can tell me what movie this hotel facade was used in. It had a different name for the movie. While moving along the rim we saw these guys. Up towards the eastern edge. The tower was added on as a museum and designed to use the same type of rock as the surrounding area to help it blend in...well as much as a 3 story tower can "blend in" On the way back to our car at one point I saw this little lady on Silvia's shirt. Knowing how she feels about bugs I rescued her from a certain death. They had free water fountains as a way to encourage people to not use b
  8. Continuing on we headed north towards the Grand Canyon. We would not be making it there tonight however we were camping for the night an hour outside the canyon. Where you say. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PPf3aaZmUw Thats right Flintsonte's Bedrock City Campground! Out back, for a nominal fee, they have built Bedrock City and you can explore it. I will say this was built I believe in the early 80's and hasn't had to much in the way of upkeep. So if you bring little ones keep an eye on them. Dang bird was trying to eat me! Is it quitting time yet? There was a slide in the tail of t

  11. Wow good catch Mecha. I blew by that twice without noticing. Welcome! With your attention to detail you will do well here.
  12. Silvia's vote is the girl liked it cause it's pretty. No marriage required.
  13. I am so glad you are here. I wasn't sure how much longer I could wait before starting this. The natives get restless you know. I had a real hard time looking down that dam.
  14. I cant remember the reason behind the design of the statues.. There was one I am just blank. The zodiac stuff was for a purpose. They set up the Compass Rose and zodiac symbols along with some other details that marked the exact date and time the Dam was completed. They wanted to leave a marker behind that could be figured out by someone at any point in the future . At least thats how I remember it.
  15. Thank you for your patience. It was a fun place to visit. I think we might go back again for a couple of days but this was enough for this trip.
  16. Before I forget I said in Vegas I only lost $1. That's because on my way out I played exactly $1 and lost. I almost always do and choose to spend my money on food and shows. Plus we have a casino right down the road from us. Might as well give my money to the local guy. OKay since Nicki is being patient we will continue on. We headed up to the Hoover Dam but I will tell you right now we did not go inside on the tour. While I am sure it was cool inside we just weren't into the idea. Here's Lake Meade Almost there Bridge for the roadway going over the colorado river after it goes through the d
  17. So since Doodle reminded me what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas I have decided to change the names to protect the innocent... :rofl3:... So Kevin and Christina headed off to Vegas... Just kidding. We headed up I15 to Vegas. I had heard that on a certain stretch of highway if you paid attention you could see the San Andreas Fault. Here it is. Cool huh. I was prepared the whole time we were in California but I never got to hit play on my phone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbQ4m-NqeF8 It's not to long of a drive from Disneyland to Vegas so I here we go. Crossing into NV And here we are ent
