The price and limitations on all tickets has gotten outrageous.  We live out of state and generally hold annual passes, but did not have active ones when the pandemic hit.  Consequently, for our 21 day stay in the campground in August we bought 10 day tickets which we could not even use at any time during our stay.  We prefer to spread our park days out.  To compound this we have a son on the severe end of the autism spectrum who literally did not leave the house for 18 months because he does not tolerate wearing a mask. Nor can he understand the question, "what do you want to do several months from now 900 miles away?"  We fully understand that his limitations are ours to bear, so we made the decision to buy his tickets on the daily basis as he requested a park.  We also knew that we would have to function without a guest assistance pass because waiting in line and getting that to happen exceeds his tolerance and we are done in the park for that day - I could not financially justify buying a ticket to have his needs accommodated and frankly, do not believe I should have to do so.  I was so proud of his patience and happy that he could keep his mask in place to at least experience some of the attractions.  Now with the newly announced annual pass prices which you must pay an upcharge for water parks and photo pass, Disney has probably priced us out of that market.  A very sad day for our family.....

The video thing really gets me.  Put the electronic device down and experience the event in person.  Otherwise, stay home and watch it on TV.  Maybe I'm just an old fuddy-duddy.

i love Disney as much as the next person, but if I lived in Florida and stuff was just starting to reopen, I would be supporting the locally owned small businesses before heading to DS.

kadancer reacted to tim5055 in OUTPOST no longer assigning sites?
My gut feeling is that this change will make the Fort the same as any hotel.  The front desk staff will always be able to see what is occupied, vacant and pending arrival.  They can sell a vacant site for one night without a problem.

Where I see the possible issues arising are special requests.  A system that has apparently worked well for many years (faxing requests) could be in peril.  I'm being told by another travel agent who works the Fort a lot (sorry Jason) that the faxes are being forwarded to the new assignment group.  How long will this last??

To be honest, I have never faxed a request.  I have noted on my reservation some things at times, like "back side of 1900 loop, outside" but even that was rare.  I like the surprise of seeing where they put us this time and we have never been disappointed.  On one occasion we didn't fit on a site but other than that time have always been happy.

I'm hoping that this is an issue just because it's change.  Nobody like change.

This type of character interaction is one of my fondest memories from my first trips to WDW.  Pluto stood in line behind my mom at our very first Contemporary check-in way back in the 70's.  She turned around and must have jumped a foot - we thought it was hysterical.

The only feasible law suit from this could come from the other park guests that had to witness and intervene in this abysmal situation.  And, unfortunately, they won't sue the folks at fault because Disney has the deeper pockets.

I do remember that night.  The lawn was a sloppy mess when everyone went home and I was grateful that I was not on the clean-up crew.

Salisbury has changed a lot, especially the college.  I worked for the theatre through the 80's and most of the 90's - it was a great job for a single gal, but not for raising a family.

Hmm...I did not see the fences around the playgrounds yet.  Makes me want to buy rolls of paper, let kids in the campground create "artwork" and then cover the fences.  I would have to stop myself from adding, "Please pardon our mess while we think we are improving your guest experience." though.

I feel guilty for not reporting sooner.  We were incredibly lucky to see this little darling the morning he was born.  He was visible on the Safari, along with a whole ton of cast members that were observing Mommy and Baby.  According to our driver, they had been with the mother for over 24 hours.  The driver was explaining that the baby had been born as we were rounding the bend and the little guy lifted his head up out of the water.  It was a breathtaking moment!!
Also, the tiger cubs are now out for viewing on the Maharajah Trail.  They weren't out much when we were there because the temperature was too cold.
