  1. The campground still has great rates, but the tickets have gotten quite expensive.  If you break it down as a per day price, it's not bad for the tickets for above 8 days.  However, you still have to put out a good chunk of change to purchase them.  I know for my daughter, a family of 6, it's not affordable at this point.

Not sure how far each day you want to go and the 8 in your unit could be an issue but I will list who we have used heading south: KOA at Kings Dominion but that's probably too close for you, the old Yogi Bear near Emporia VA, Crossroads at Carolina, RVacation which I believe is now North Point Selma NC, Raliegh Oaks NC, South of the Border, New Green Acres, Creek Fire near Savanah. Good luck on your search

    Thank you for the information

  3. Unfortunately, he will be CEO as long as Disney is making huge profits.  It would appear that Disney doesn't care about their loyal guest base.  The guests that visit infrequently aren't going to pay  the bills in the long run.  It's the guests that go to Disney many times a year and stay at the hotels and campground that bring in the most money.  Those that visit every 5 years or so bring in a large amount of money, but that is only for one visit.  At some point, only the rich will be able to afford Disney.

So we have been watching for full hookup and decided to go full hookup.  We did end up getting reservations starting June 15th and extended it through July 1st.  With how the 4th of July falls we should be able to drive and be back to our regular spot on July 3rd.

I would call Disney everyday to see if anything opens up.  That's what we have done in the past.  Personally, we love the full hook up sites.

  5. My grandkids are really looking forward to visiting Disney World again.  However, with the state of things, I think they will be disappointed.  We have visited many many times.  They used to live in California and visited Disneyland 45 times in one year.  They are now 10 1/2, 9, 7, and 3 1/2.  Prior to the pandemic, we would stay at The Fort atleast once a year. With the increase costs and lack of magic, I'm not sure when we will visit again.  I would like to visit during the 50th celebration because my parents took us opening year and we have been for the 25th and 40th.  We were in Disneyland for the 60th.  This year we might visit Dollywood.  We keep monitoring everyone's experiences and will make our decision.

It is a great campground this was are 3rd time staying here. Bathrooms are nice and plenty of them spread out. There is a active train that runs along the grounds so you may hear that on and off all day and night. They do have a couple of playgrounds that seem nice. In the main building that used to be a barn is a little store that sells coffee ,a few snacks ,souvenirs and, tickets the office and, a small arcade. Not sure about that time of year but they do have activities and outdoor movies. You might want to ask when they turn the water off for the year.

Anything else you might want to know?

Thanks for the information.  I didn't even think about them turning off the water.  We can fill our tank, but definitely need to be prepared.

Below is the link for where we stayed, it is on the trolley line but we drove to the main hub and took the trolley to Dollywood from there so we only had to take one. We stayed in what they call a Park Cabin which is like a park trailer, it was cozy but had 2 bedrooms and a bath and a half, living area with a kitchen.

That is a great time to go and Christmas in the park is really great. Not sure what time the park opens then so if late 2 days might be best to see and do everything. The shows we saw lasted at least a hour if not longer. We stayed in a cabin in a campground that way we actually pre-cooked some meals so only needed to warm them up. Weather wise days will be pleasant but plan for nights to be chilly, also use the trolley system to avoid heavy traffic and also the parking fee at Dollywood, the trolley drops you off right at the entrance.

What campground did you stay in?  We are thinking about going this Christmas.  The Hallmark movie started us looking into Dollywood and Disney is beginning to get too expensive.

Jason, First I'm happy to still see you here.

Second, I am anxiously awaiting that fast approaching time myself. Would love to upgrade to a younger truck camper.

Debbie, like many other campgrounds they will eventually catch on and if you drop of to many days, they will dump your whole reservation. I've been searching my available vacation times(we have certain dates available) finding we cannot book 7 day anywhere. i was lucky to find 5 days. The loss of 7 days worth of rental's for people reducing to 2 days on just a weekend will eventually catch up.

I have had CM's make reservations for me this way.  They made the reservations and told me to cancel out the days I don't want.

I do object to the wording of giving all the sites to travel agents. Speaking on a personal level I work friggin hard to get my clients the sites they ask for on the first day of availability and throughout the year. Not a single thing has been "given" to me.

The problem is the popularity of the Fort combined with, in some cases, the min/max booking system.

You are a great travel agent and work very hard.  There is a particular travel agent that seems to have the market on Fort Wilderness reservations.  There is a facebook group that I recommended you on and I was told that I couldn't recommend you because there was only 1 travel agent that was allowed and she isn't even nice.

There is already a page on Facebook for Fort Fiends. If you have not already liked the page here is the link.

Also, it is imperative that we “like” the posts and comment on them. I have been slacking in this area.

We need to post more on the facebook page.  That way more people will like and join.

You are a great travel agent, but there is a travel agent that seems to have the market on Fort Wilderness sites.  I have met this person and they are not very friendly in person.

They opened up more slots 2 or 3 weeks ago.

I went to get them, and we couldn't because our AP's will be "expired" by then, and it's too early to renew them.

So we lost out on getting reservations.

I wasn't going to purchase tickets or book an overpriced Disney hotel.

We have Fort reservations the last week of September and the first week in October.  The grandkids really want to go, but don't want to go if they still have to wear a mask.  So, we will just wait and see.  I don't want to wear a mask all day if it's really hot and we all know that time of year it can be really hot.  I don't want to be forced to purchase tickets months or even more than a year ahead of time.  If you have to cancel, you are out alot of money.
