  1. We stayed in the "cabins" when my parents to all of the WDW for the 25th Anniversary
  2. We just bought a 1994 Newmar Kountry Star diesel pusher. We have had some questions and contacted Newmar. They were fantastic. They answered all of our questions and I feel went above and beyond what I had expected. We have had a few issues with the motorhome, but it is from neglect from the previous owners, not the construction of the unit. It is very quiet and stable when driving it.
  3. I think the comment he made about the lady with Tourettes was inappropriate. I'm sure the lady was just as upset as everyone else. It's not like she has control over her Tourettes.
  4. We just bought a vented combo unit and we are going to put it in the closet. The only problem is that my hubby has to run all of the plumbing because it isn't pre plumbed. Just one more thing to add on the list to have done before September.
  5. We joined AAA for the first time just to get the disount when we are at The Fort in September. If you sign up for Groupon, you might get a discounted offer. That's what we did and we got a year of AAA for $33.
  6. I would definitely stay at The Fort. We have never done the meal plan. We bring our food and eat at the MH. It lets us save money and be on our own schedule. Don't forget, Disney lets you bring your own food and drinks into the parks. We always pack lunches, water, etc. Staying on site lets you take breaks during the day. Go to the parks until you get tired, go back rest, get something to eat, and then go out again. We travel with our granddaughter, she was 3 months for her first visit and 6 months for her second visit. We are going to The Fort in September and she will be 15 months old t
  7. My daughter isn't really picky about what characters Mackenzie gets to meet. That makes it alot easier.
  8. We are coming to The Fort in September and we would like to take our 15 month old granddaughter to one of the character dining meals. Does anyone have any suggestions? We don't care if it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
  9. We lost our Elmo on March 7. We will no longer hear his happy barks when we say "Do you want to go to Disney World"? Our trip in September will be hard without him, but he is no longer in pain. My hubby insists that his ashes come with us. So we are going to find a special place for him in the MH.
  10. How about something around The Santa Clause movies? I love Christmas and I'm sure there are alot of people that feel the same way. You could do a roller coaster of sort that would be Santa's sleigh. You could do the North Pole. I think the possibilities are endless.
  11. I'm lucky because my hubby does all of the work on ours. However, if we ever need to pay someone, I will keep the marine mechanics and the commercial dealerships in mind. The rv dealers can really rip you off. It looks like the previous owner really took care of the motorhome and we went over it with a fine tooth comb, but you can't see through steel. Will keep everyone posted and thanks for the advice
  12. It's a 1994 Newmar Kountry Star 38' diesel. It has 86,000 miles, Maryland state inspected, brand new tires, 1 large slide, diesel generator, excellent condition. We will paint it in some type of Disney fashion.
  13. We are looking at a 1994 Newmar Kountry Star 38' diesel pusher with 1 slide. Does anyone have any pros and cons of this unit? Thanks
  14. I remember duck pin bowling. My parents were on a duck pin bowling league when I was a kid. However, I'm not driving 1000 miles to come to Disney World to go bowling. I can bowl 10 miles from my house.
  15. The new strollers can be extremely difficult to fold. My daughter and son in law had a baby trend jogging stroller and it was so heavy and difficult to fold that they sold it to another unsuspecting new parent.
  16. We don't tow a car, but a trailer that matches our MH. Our granddaughter has alot of stuff!!!!! Besides, I haven't mastered traveling light!
  17. We have a covered box that we keep under the MH. We also have a hanging shelf (like the shoe holders, but bigger) and it is hung from a removeable pole in the shower. Since my granddaughter is the only one that uses the bathtub (we use the comfort station at The Fort) it doesn't even have to be removed. Also, we renovated the back of our MH and put in a cubby that holds shoes. I tend to overpack in the shoe area and we usually travel with 4 adults. Sincer our MH is older, there isn't as much storage as the new units.
  18. Those cinnamon buns look really yummy. Can't wait until our September trip to get some!!
  19. We drove from Maryland to The Fort with our granddaughter when she was 3 months old and again when she was 6 months old. My daughter and son in law purchased a portable DVD player and she watched movies the entire trip. I think that really helped. Her favorite is Jake and The Neverland Pirates. Many people have said that infants don't recognize people, but when we took her to see Jake at Hollywood Studios, she was like a teenager that saw a star that they had a crush on. We will be traveling again is September and she will be 15 months old. I have a feeling that traveling with her when sh
  20. We lower the dinette and use one of the bed rails that slip under the mattress/cushion. My granddaughter was 6 months old when we were at The Fort in December. She moves around alot when she sleeps and she did great. We don't have a pop up, but our MH is a 1983, so it isn't nearly as roomy as the new ones. We tried the pack and play on the dinette also, but this worked better for us.
  21. I agree, I love looking down Main Street. It gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling. Magic Kingdom is still my favorite park. I could go there everyday and never get tired of it. On our last day at The Fort, I always make sure MK is the last park we visit and I sit in the back of the boat so I can continue to look at it. Can't wait until our September visit. Lou, you are very lucky to be surrounded by the Magic of Disney!!!
  22. After reading this topic I decided to look at a campground in Ocean City, MD and they charge $86 per night for June to Labor Day for 2 adults. Additional adults are $12, kids 11 to 17 are $6 and you have to pay either $12 visitors. Also, you are limited to 6 people per site. Even with the price of gas, I would much rather go to The Fort.
  23. That was a great trip report. I can't wait for our visit in September. Your reports ease the pain of not being able to make more frequent visits!!!
