We usually stay in the 1700 loop and use the buses, bike, or walk. I think from the outpost to the marina is about a mile. So, that would be the 1500 loop at about a half mile. You will be right across from the pool, movies, etc. So, it's a great location.

We always use Disney transportation. Let someone else fight the traffic!!!

Yes we did. We have checked in this way a couple of times.

I have done this as well. When I did on line check in I did the loop request. Then I sent a fax to request a site. I gave them about 10 sites that I liked in the loop and I got one of them. When we arrived at The Fort, we went through the lane with the Magic Bands. Hope this helps.

Our grandkids, 5, 4, and 2, and going to Disney over Thanksgiving. They are staying in a value resort and want to stay at The Fort with Mom Mom and Pop Pop. Our daughter said they will pay for the gas and split the site if we can get a campsite. We have been trying, but with no luck. My granddaughter, the 5 year old, said she is just going to have to talk to Disney about that. I asked her isn't it going to be fun just going with her Mom, Dad, brother, and sister. Here answer was no!!!!

I don't have a problem with guests visiting the campfire. I don't necessarily have a problem with resort guests visiting the campgrounds for trick or treating on Halloween. However, I have a real big problem with outsiders vising The Fort for trick or treating. They are not paying Disney guests!!!! I just can't believe that groups actually advertise trick or treating at The Fort and then tell their members the different ways you can get to The Fort without being a Disney guest. Our kids went to different neighborhoods for trick or treating because we don't live in a neighborhood.

Hi, it's a small work. Who would have thought 2 people from Harford County meeting on Fort Fiends. Thanks for the suggestion and I will let my daughter know. I agree with you about the early start time at John Archer, but I can make it work because I don't have children at home anymore. I think it is a great school to substitute. Everyone is so friendly and you truly feel like they want you there. Hope your son is doing well at Kennedy Krieger.

My grandson was just diagnosed with mild aspergers and severe sensory disorder. Fortunately, my daughter always knew that there was something going on with him. We knew that as well. I do substituting teaching at John Archer School, a school in Harford County MD for special needs children. I also have a special needs grandson, so we knew a lot already. She was able to get him tested and diagnosed very quickly once they moved to Parris Island, SC. While in California, they said he was too young. He will be 4 on Halloween. I live in northern Maryland just shy of the PA border and the stations raised the price of gas as soon as the break was news!!!!!

We rode our bikes around the loop during our last visit. We still would prefer the current full hook up loops, but some of these sites are ok. We wrote down the sites that we can fit in just in case we need it in the future. Some of the sites are definitely too short for our motorhome.

We are at site 1710, all set up and ready to enjoy The Fort!!

I think social media is definitely what has made a difference in the reaction to these issues. Not too many years ago, it was basically word of mouth. Now people are putting everything on facebook, so we are definitely aware of their plans. Hopefully this will give management an idea of the magnitude of the problem. Only time will tell.

We bought ours from IKEA. It is very comfortable and because they come rolled up, it was no trouble fitting into the motorhome.

In my opinion, the bigger problem is that "guests" don't seem to need to take any responsibility for their own safety. Common sense should come into play at some point. No swimming means to stay out of the water. I'm sure there will also be stay off the fence signs and stay off the rocks signs. I guess that is what happens when we live in a lawsuit society. It's always someone else's fault!!

Totally unrelated to The Fort, but you need to use vinegar, Epsom salt, and Dawn (the original blue). This worked great for me.

Hard to believe we used to swim in the water and play at the beaches. We were there for the 25th Anniversary of Disney World with my kids and they had a great time swimming. Also, we honeymooned at the Contemporary and had a wing room that opened to the beach. They even had a bar to serve the swimmers!!!

Does any one know when the new loop will be up and functioning?

I don't care if people that are camping ask their friends or family to visit and trick or treat, but this is totally wrong. I just understand why people think that there isn't anything wrong with doing this.

Gwen, They make compression socks that go from the foot to the groin. My daughter had to wear them when she was pregnant because of a varicose vein that ran from her groin to her ankle. Maybe this will help.

Some trips we have driven straight through, that's about 950 miles. Other trips we have driven 550 miles. Here lately, we have been driving 650, which puts us at Parris Island, SC to spend a little time with grandkids. The bottom line is that if you need to drive less miles, then that is what is best for you. Everyone is different and your health is the most important thing.
