Retired and Happy (Ken) got a reaction from caveat lector in Did I just pay $175 for a campsite?
I haven't been on here in some time, but I saw this thread and read through all 6 pages.  We may be an exception to some of the problems discussed here, but we will likely be coming back for several years...if we have several remaining years left.  With our three kids in wheelchairs we don't do the thrill rides, and we seem to visit the same attractions and eating places every year.  These are things the kids can participate in and can recognize from previous visits.  We used to come down a couple times a year, but skipped  last year entirely in favor of the Dollywood area.  We're back at the Fort this December and hope (with Jason's help) for a really good campsite.  I'm not sure where we would go besides Pigeon Forge for attractions within the interest of our kids.  And it's the kids we go for.  We have had APs for several years at both Dollywood and WDW, but might cut back there.  Dollywood is closer but there is less to do there and there are a LOT more hills to push the wheelchairs UP (never seems to be DOWN).  For the past few years we have brought our van and MH to the Fort, but I'm not sure Judy is up to driving this year, so we are going to try the trip with only the MH and trailer (with GC).  I'm not sure if there is a price cutoff for us, but we are not happy with the high level it has gone to in the past few years, especially with the difficulty in getting decent reservations.  For now we will endure and come enjoying watching the kids enjoy WDW while we stay in our own RV with kitchen bathroom, and bedroom.
Edit:  And the Fort and our MH is the only practical way for us to travel with the kids with their equipment.

Retired and Happy (Ken) got a reaction from Roberta in Free Parking at the Parks?
We never drive to any of the parks.  We always take the boat or bus.  If we drive we have to load the three wheelchairs in the van, then unload at the park then reload to return to the Fort.  On the boat, one stays up front and the other two go to the newer handicapped seating on the front row of seats.  On the bus during our last visit, the CM let us strap two chair is the two positions and one of us would hold Blake and the other hold his chair in the aisle.  I don't know if we will always get away with that, but we have had to take two busses at times.  Often the CM would call and get some priority seating for whoevwer in taking the second bus.  At any rate, we would be on vacation and a few extra minutes does not bother us.

I fixed your post to make it a bit "Rusty".  For some reason, the way your post flowed reminded me of that.   LOL.

Retired and Happy (Ken) got a reaction from djsamuel in Non-pet loops becoming pet loops
People actually LIE about or ignore the fact of having a pet?  Our previous Savannah would jump up at the driver's window during check-in and bark at the CM.  Hard to hide that!

Retired and Happy (Ken) reacted to DaveInTN in Eternabond ?
When I bought my van used 6 years ago, it had a leak along the top of the windshield.  I found out about it the first time it rained after bringing it home....water ran in and dripped down on the steering wheel, shorting the horn and causing it to begin blaring non-stop.  After hurriedly popping the hood and disconnecting the horn to get it to stop...I began looking into ways to get the leak to stop.  The dealer that sold it to me paid for one of those leak fix places to come out and fix it.  Worked for about 2 weeks, but then after another storm the inside was wet again.  I had some black Eternabond laying around, so I ran a strip of it along the top of the windshield, completely covering the gasket, adhering to the steel roof on top and the glass at the top of the windshield.  Leak was fixed.  Six years later it's still fixed.  Eternabond is good stuff.

Even though the cats are indoors only I would declare them in the event of an emergency with the RV. This way Fort personnel are aware that pets are inside and could try to save them if needed.

The remaining 28 cabins have been retained by Disney for use in the upcoming River Country DVC project.  They are stacking them into two 14 story towers on the shores of Bay Lake.  Imagine the views from those decks!

A-HA!  The latest TCD list corresponds to my experience with the missing channels all having HD in their titles, and the upper channels having SD in THEIR titles.
Now, at River Plantation (Sevierville TN)  one of my TVs searches and finds all analog stations and the other finds only digital stations.  About 60 similar or equal stations in each set, except a few of the analog stations are snowy.  "Discuss among yourselves."

    Good photos Mo!
I assume the next step is to sneak over at night, hitch up and slip away with one of them?
Doesn't look like they would miss just one....

Get on the boat before the fireworks and view from there.  Or go back to the Fort early and view from the beach...with piped in music.

    Our rusty spike!
We also have bought Disney "year" matching :"T" shirts for many years, but this past Christmas, we were told they no longer make all sizes in each design, so we had to get two different shirts instead of all matching.

TCD, I don't think you are in the minority for those of us who have been familiar with Walt's Dream and the original layout of the Bay Lake/Seven Seas areas.  These new constructions will be accepted by the new millennials who never knew the relaxed atmosphere of the lakes.  The same goes for the new construction in the Parks.  They won't know what thy are missing from the "old days".  "Everyman" will be priced out, and WDW will become a playground for the rich and famous...much as things like the Super Bowl is not an on-site football game for football fans.

Retired and Happy (Ken) reacted to Avatab.... Steve in In a tent and safe in a lightening storm?
Looks like a good idea if you are stuck out on an open plain.  If you are in the woods the bigger threat in a tent is falling trees or branches.
Maybe if they modified the design slightly to protect against all of the effects of a thunderstorm.
Make the sides out of hard shiny aluminum, round off the top so that rain and debris slide right off, and put a set of wheels under it so you can move it to the perfect spot.
    Oh, wait......    uh nevermind

I don't have anywhere to store my lawnmower. Just no room. It sits in the yard and get buried in snow and rain. I have only once changed the oil, filter, and plugs. I just fuel it up and on the second pull every time I starts right up. The safety pull died year two so I have a screw driver I have to put in to open that part so it will run and then it dies when I pull it. I keep saying when it dies I will get a new one but every time second pull.

But please try to obey the rules.  Its the ones who try to slip by that eventually cause problems for all.  Whether it be fire pits, barking dogs, parking on "grass", underage drivers, outside cart rentals, etc, they crackdown, but in the meantime everyone else has to suffer from these rule breakers.
