Rumor: Magic Kingdom Power Outage 12/15?
Travisma replied to BradyBzLyn...Mo's topic in Disney Rumors Board
Go ahead and just spill the beans.... it was probably a damed squirrel! USF main campus lost power 2 days in a row a couple of weeks ago because of squirrels getting into the power lines. About a year ago the City of Tampa had a boil water alert because a squirrel knocked out power to the main pump station/water treatment plant. Bushy-tailed rats! -

Can you get measurements taken at 1 central location, then get a colored armband based on height? Seaworld and Busch do that so the child doesnt have to be measured at every ride with a height requirement. -

TCD, you are correct money does talk. The U-Haul people did pay to stay there, but that doesn't give them or someone in a $500,000 RV the right to break the rules and spoil someone elses stay. And the person whose stay is getting ruined shouldn't have to confront the inconsiderate jerks, or even have to call the front desk. They should have enough rangers/security/off duty cops to patrol the Fort and keep it enjoyable for everyone. If they cracked down on rule breakers (fairly across the board) then just maybe those type won't come back because they can't do whatever they feel like. -

The problem is they have a unique product (campground at an attraction) and they know it. Now if Universal decided to build a campground, or if KOA built a large one in the area they may start to listen more to the complaints. The general consensus seems to be that the Fort management won't do anything to make the Fort better. So I say step it up a notch and start complaining to Iger and the CFO. Tell them about the issues the Fort is having and how your overall experiences have slowly been going downhill. Let them know what you loved about the Fort in the past and how it made you lov -

Where did you find a Sunpass for $3? I've been looking to get one since my daughter lives N of the Beachline. I've seen them for $5 (non transferable) and $20 for the one you can use on multiple vehicles. The $20 used to come with $10 or 15 worth of credit, but no more. -
congratulations on your trip, and your trip report. Did you ever make it out to the Rose Bowl Parade last year?

The main entrance is east off of 192, and the road also extends south west to an exit off of I-4. Not sure about the Turnpike, since we live in Tampa we use I-4 or some back roads and we usually come in the back service roads if we aren't towing the pop up. If you use Google maps you can see the Disney internal roads. At one time they used to give out maps of all the roads on the property. Not sure if they still have them. You could ask at check in for one. -

I will try to get a mailing address for Fort management, if anyone is willing to join me. Trying to find a mailing address or even an email address for Disney on a Disney website is next to impossible. I found this information on a website listing corporations address's. Maybe a letter to Disney executives just may get things changed at the Fort. I don't think complaining to the Fort management will do much. I'm sure they hear about issues on a daily basis, and it seems like a lot of people on this site complain about the same things over and over with nothing getting done. Tellin -

I agree 200%. Money talks, but in Disneys case if they lost everyone that has ever camped at the Fort, they would still probably be able to keep it full. If there are problems, call the front desk over and over until something gets done about it. -
I just saw an RV /golf course today. It was on Hwy 27 north of Clermont. I'm sorry but I don't remember the name. There were 3 or 4 campgrounds in the area.

Weekender, I sent you a message. We had a horrible experience a year ago September in the 2000 loop. It was as bad if not worse that what you went through. It was like the wild west with no rules at all. When I complained to management they passed it off as a busy weekend and their rangers/guards were spread thin. I replied that your lack of staffing shouldn't affect my stay and that I paid good money to be able to camp and relax without idiots ruining my vacation. Whats funny is that the Fort has an anything goes attitude on a lot of rules so they don't offend/upset a customer and -
Home Depot has glasses and I think they make the lights starry

We tented over Halloween and the temps dropped to,the mid 40s two nights. We were on an elevated air mattress. We put a blanket down for insulation, then covered up. It kept us warm. Wear socks, and a knit cap to keep extra warm and sweat shirt/pants. The worst part was during the day and the wind. Once the wind stopped it was nice and a refreshing treat from the normal Florida humidity. If you go the heater route, they have those sealed oil filled radiators that are the safest. No exposed heating elements.

Campground FULL in January and February
Travisma replied to Mamma_Eagle's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
My wife just tried booking the Fort for a partial site January 17-20 MLK weekend and that Monday Tuesday, and it showed full. But a notice popped up saying if you were a DVC or passholder to put your number in and click continue. We aren't definitely going that weekend, but she thought she would see availability. We had never seen that message pop up before. -
Wreaths. How about those plastic window clings then tape them on the cart. Never can have too many lights. On my kayak I use strands of lights, some plastic light up trees, plastic figurines that light up, and a big star dangling on a surf rod which allows it to bounce around. This year I picked up a lot of color changing led lights inside of foam batons that are like small pool noodles. Got some on clearance at a science museum, and just got a lot at 90% off at Walgreens Halloween clearance. I'm going to attach them on my tree frame and on my deck lines.

Campground FULL in January and February
Travisma replied to Mamma_Eagle's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
Lou answered this problem in another thread I started about expanding the Fort. He said that even during busy times there are a lot of empty sites during the week, it's the weekends that are hard to get the majority of the time. Based on that, he said that they probably wouldn't consider expanding the Fort. -
They sound great. I've used battery powered lights on my kayak for years in a Christmas boat parade, but they are very tiny bulbs and not real bright. How bright are these ones? 2 years ago after Christmas I got a bunch of Disney light up figures that are battery operated that I hang off a PVC tree I made.

Best camp chair??
Travisma replied to twiceblessed....nacole's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
TradingPpost has the heavy duty folding type camp chairs with the Fort logo, they look comfortable but i'm afraid to find the price. Camping World has some of the "larger" style ones, but they aren't cheap.
