  1. I didn't know of the Jellystone in Waller. It sounds nice! Hoping that the pool at the Canyon Lake Jellystone won't be too cold this March, though at least our kiddos can try the pedal cars and any activities they have planned.
  2. Thanks for the Krause Springs! I didn't know it was there. We went zip lining near there (for adults) and ate at Opie's BBQ after- that place is awesome!!!
  3. Thank you! As someone who has yet to see the Fort in person, it's really amazing to look at it from this angle with the site numbers. :camp1:
  4. CakeHenn, thanks for all of your great tips! I will check into Gulf Waters for our June trip...it's funny because I was torn between the two when booking. I thought that the Burleson Jellystone was great fun, though we have nothing to compare with yet. None of the activities or water park was open, though I'm sure that's terrific in season. There was still lots to do and explore for us. We look forward to experiencing the State Parks to compare as the Burleson Jellystone was a little "Chuck E Cheesish" , if that makes sense. I'm looking forward to the Jellystone in Fredericksburg because
  5. You might get lucky with Garner if you keep checking back. I booked last week, though just half way....it was a tip I learned from another camper on the web. At first I was just checking July dates for a 4 night stay. When I shortened it to checking one night at a time, I was able to find 2 nights in a row on the same loop for the week I want. I hear that they have lots of cancellations as they get closer to Summer. My plan is to keep checking back for the other 2 nights I want. My source on the web even mentioned waking up in the morning and extending your stay based on cancellations, th
  6. Thanks for the help! I feel like such a newbie focusing on loops and sites, though I did spend some good time reading for new crock pot meal ideas. Fort fiends rock! :worship:
  7. I have downloaded google earth but can't get Shanta's program because it looks like he deleted them? I hoped that somebody might have the file to share... Loved the bing maps though, thanks! I'm mainly interested in how the 1300 site numbers run. Does it start at the loop entrance and go counter clockwise, increasing in number? Evens and one side and odds on the other? I'd love to know which numbers are near CS, canal, playground, etc. If anyone has a screen shot of that loops site layout that would be great. Or forget all the above questions and simplify--any favorite sites on 1300? I
  8. Thanks so much! I'd better wrap up my last bit of work before I dive in
  9. I'm picky about my water, but love the tap water on DCL. It's triple filtered or something like that. We like to save our space to bring on beer and wine. :doublebeer: On our past cruises we were able to have a soft sided cooler where we kept everything on ice. Perhaps that was against the rules even then, though I hear now it is really enforced not to have any coolers. We'll have to figure out a good option. One think I really enjoyed is that you can bring a full glass with you to dinner from your room, which can to help your dining room bottle last longer. We're headed out on the Mag
  10. Would anyone be able share the file of Shanta's map with me? I have been checking around for it because I'm such a visual person and would love to see how the site numbers fall on the loop. The videos are really awesome, but until I learn the way the numbering works, it won't really make sense to me. Thanks! Becca
  11. Good guess! Yep, Crestview! We are headed to McKinney Falls for our 1st visit this weekend. Can't wait and excited to have a cool place so close by. We are brand new to RVing. Did our night at Crestview and visited the Jellystone Park in Burleson a couple weeks back because my oldest had a scout campout at the Ft. Worth Zoo. We've got some good trips lined up for the Spring/Summer- Fredericksburg (Jellystone), Perdanales State Park, Canyon Lake(Jellystone), Port A (Pioneer), & Garner State Park. It should be a lot of fun to unplug for some good family time! I'm obviously a planner,
  12. Hi CakeHenn! Hope you're having fun planning. We sure are, and I've really learned a lot from this thread. Like you, we're planning a trip from Texas to the Fort for next Summer. I just booked yesterday at the 499 day mark, and will get our tickets later. We're a bit concerned about the distance too, though it seems like so many do it and love the experience. We have family in Mobile and plan to drive there on day one (about 630 miles from Austin) then on to Orlando on day two (about 500 miles). We plan to stay 10 nights, with probably 6 days at the park. In order to stay so long, I'l
