Returned back from the Fort a couple of days ago. So far, I'd have to say that the impact to the Fort is minimal, so here's hoping it stays that way. So much so that I retract some of my Negative Nancy sentiments. 🙂

Looks like a boat dock in the top right corner of C-104.

Also, I knew they were planning bungalows but I don't think I appreciated the fact that when sitting on the side porch at TE you'll be looking right into them.  What a cluster this plan is.  I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they'd do the right thing by Fort Wilderness and create a beautiful, complimentary resort.  But this doesn't look good.  It truly is taking over the settlement.

I'm sure Disney could pave over the entire campground and open a KOA style campground in another location on property and there would be a lot of folks perfectly fine with that.
I feel sorry for those who missed the Fort in its glory days and think what they're doing is fine.

    Late to the party.
Here at the Fort. Today was an amazing day; Trails End breakfast, horse barn, bike riding, nap under the awning, dog walking.  A few sites open in every loop, over 25 open in the 2000, saw 2 or 3 Prevost buses and a few other big ones. Mainly campers like mine and many older ones, like cousin Eddie style.
    Expensive?
    Yep
    Value to cost?
Unmeasureable.  But for us, worth every penny.
    Ymmv!

Wow. This is the most response I ever got on a topic I started. I’m proud of myself.  LOL. I have to say, besides the fort prices, the price of park tickets etc., we still think camping at the fort is not like it used to be.  As more and more people have found the hidden treasure at the fort, it’s become more crowed and not as relaxing. Large groups or groups of friends come together more often and like most of  the people nowadays, they have no respect for other campers and only care about themselves.   Many times last year on our trips, small children were not being watched while the parents sit and consume beverages, golf carts are being driven recklessly by both adults and underage drivers, people are constantly cutting through your site knocking things over, more and more non resort guest are taking over the amenities and the pool you could cross walking from head to head.  I guess because we used to go so frequently we notice these things vs people who visit once a year or so.  How about the campers that pile non garbage things like patio blocks, broken camper parts and chairs etc. near the trash cans.  one time we saw a recliner next to the trash can.  It’s a shame it’s not like it was. Wait till the abomination II gets built next door. You will have all those guest looping on rented golf carts, surey bikes and whatever else they can rent to look at all the camping folks. I’m sure this thread will have more comments and agreement when that happens. Security is a joke. Every time they get a good head of security that enforces the rules but is not a jerk, they get promoted or quit.

Seems like if they're going to do this then you should get a partial discount for the early park closure.

I asked about this yesterday and apologies if this has been covered already, but my understanding is that campers get one free pass under this new policy. To hedge my bets I went ahead and made a reservation yesterday for March 2019 in case we have others come with us since it only applies to new reservations after the 21st.
Anywho, I am of two minds about this... on the one had I agree it sucks royally. On the other hand, I wonder if it will help open up reservations which are getting difficult. I know we have been several times to be told that the campground is all full up only to see several vacant sites the whole time we're there, and we know it is a common practice for some unscrupulous people to stay off site and get a burner campsite reservation for the free multi-car parking, magic bands, and extra magic hours. Maybe on the plus side this will cut down on some of that.

I'm starting to wonder if I've blabbed one too many times about how great the Fort is. "The First rule of the Fort is, you don't talk about the Fort...."

Hey, maybe there's something to that. It's not like Disney actually advertises the Fort all that much...

Just an update on our sitch... I bought the Carlisle Radial Trail HD tires from Sams Club. Given the availability (except for Sams themselves it seems) and recommendations all over the place, it seems like this is a well respected tire. It is chinese made, but appears to be at least a well molded tire, even to the point of getting fancy and stamping CARLISLE into the tread pattern like some fancier sports car tires. They are about 4 months old per the DOT label, so that's not too bad.
Our local Sams Club didn't have them in stock, but were able to get them in a couple of days. Why are the tires I want never in stock?? :)

My daughter and I had a good time hunting tree frogs along the high banks of the canal behind the 1500 loop near the main campground road. Found two or three.

I as a kid also enjoyed the heck out of Future World. And, they did a darn good job of disguising how educational it was in the process. The World Showcase on the other hand was a huge bore as I recall, minus the troll ride (RIP) and the mexican ride.
I'm still miffed that they so royally screwed up Imagination. But all that aside, I think the main thing thats really missing from EPCOT is the Future bit. Their exhibits are largely lacking in the excitement of the future aspect. Quite frankly, I don't get this, as there's plenty of material to work with. As an example, when we went to Disneyland about three years ago, you could see a little show at their Innoventions featuring an actual Honda Asimo robot! I was incredible, and I doubt most folks have seen one. How about a self-driving car exhibit? How are those not the perfect addition to EPCOT? (As a side note, quite frankly my impression after our trip to DL a couple years ago was that whoever is in charge of Disneyland is doing a lot of things right and the Disney Parks company would do well to put them in charge of WDW). Anyways, the World Showcase has lost a bit of its original charter too...a lot of the stuff in shops simply wasn't available pre-freer trade in the 80's. I do fondly remember trying Gummibars from the Germany pavilion and my moms reaction to seeing them, "Oh! I haven't seen these since your dad was stationed in Germany!" Granted this was early-mid 80s.

geoffdaddy got a reaction from Avatab.... Steve in The idiots have arrived en masse
I've brought this up before, but i think it bears repeating... I think they should reduce the number of people on a reservation from 10 down to say 6 or 7, and maybe give a pass to people with big families if they can prove the additional kids live with them or something (not sure how they'd manage this, but seems like they could do something about it), or maybe only a max of four adults per site? I would also allow only up to 2 linked reservations and make sure that the names on the reservations aren't also party to other reservations. So, if Joe Jerk is named on reservation 1 for a particular site, he cannot also be named on reservation 2 for a separate site for the same stay. I think it's a bit asinine that an entire group can take over an complete loop. Last stay we witnessed two or three groups in the 1500 that clearly had well over the number of people allowed on a site... 5 tents on one site and had set up practically a full kitchen too (all for a four night stay I might add).
You know... they have a group camp site for a reason...

    Yes and no....
The Fort is a FAMILY oriented facility and should be run and enforced as such.
Sure, your neighbors should have enough common sense and decency to know better than dropping F-Bombs for everyone around them to hear.  Or not to be viewing explicit movies or having music playing that has inappropriate language for kids to hear.
But if they are lacking that bit common sense, than it's up to Disney to stop by, pay them a visit, and tell them to straighten up and fly right, or vacate the premises.
In the past you could be neighborly and ask them politely to watch themselves, but now a days you would probably be cursed at, your site vandalized, or attacked.
There are plenty of campgrounds that are more X-Rated then G for these people to plop down in, but the Fort isn't one and their boorish behavior shouldn't have to be tolerated.
We have reported issues in the past, and when nothing got rectified, we were told that the Fort is a big place and security can't be everywhere.
Well maybe with the amount of $$$ they are raking in, they need to higher more security/rangers and have them patrolling with their SUV windows down so they can hear the midnight dance parties.

I think there are two changes that could benefit the Fort for regular people... they are admittedly small things, but I think they could have a big impact:

    1. Reduce the number of people allowed on a reservation from 10 to 6.
    2. Only two parking passes per reservation.

Are those the only things they could do? No, but I think those two things would be a really good start.
