Oh, shoot!  I really liked the fife and drum corps - a really neat piece of Americana.  But, then again, I love the Main Street Philharmonic and the Dapper Dans in MK.

If you don't plan on getting a golf cart, ask for a cabin closer to a bus stop. The cabin loop I was in was huge. I would have hated walking to the cabin from the bus stop after a long day in the parks.

I am creating what basically amounts to a paint-by-number camp sign for our next trip to the fort!  I used graphite paper to trace the mickey, outlined with a paint pen, and filled it in with some acrylic paint.  I traced the letters and filled them in too!  Will add our name to the bottom and maybe our own little hidden mickey!

Can't draw. Can't paint. But I love it!!

I've interacted with enough people in my line of work to last a lifetime.  Brown Paint Guy only interacts with a brush.  That's good enough for me.

Is anyone in your group military or retired military? They can get up to six four-day park hoppers for about $170 each.

So putting on a party for 8 million is a big deal? Hell, anybody could do that. I once put on a party for 30 in college for 8 bucks and some change. That, my friends, is epic.

We are discussing phishing scams on a conference call this afternoon.

The current one is phone calls supposedly from Microsoft or Apple (for example) saying there is an issue with your computer/cellphone and they need your logon and password so they can fix it.  Lots of people getting these calls at home, at work, on cell phones.

A number of people also talking about their elderly parents getting multiple requests in the mail per week from supposed charities for donations.  Lots of puppies & kitties and hungry children on the envelopes.

Remember never to give out your logons and passwords to anyone.  Never send money to anyone for supposed repayment later or to a charity you've never heard of before.

Judy in Texas got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in Pineapple Upside Down Cake in Foil Packets
I made this for supper. I give the results a C. Here's what I did and learned:
I put 1/2 a short can of drained pineapple on a piece of heavy duty foiled that had been sprayed with Pam-like spray.
I cut one 1" slice of Sara Lee pound cake into cubes and put it on top of the pineapple.
The recipe says to top this with a dollop each of butter and brown sugar. I used 1 tablespoon of butter and 2 big spoonsful of dark brown sugar plus a few chopped walnuts and then sealed the foil packet.

The recipe says to put it on a hot grill for about 15 minutes then open the packet to allow the cake to brown.

Results: the heat was too high and there wasn't enough butter and brown sugar.

I'll try it again and hopefully improve upon today's results.

Judy in Texas got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in OT: DreamVision - Competition for Disney & Universal in TX?
My guess is that Dream Works might team up with Hillwood Properties on the north end of Fort Worth:
AllianceTexas, developed by Hillwood - a (Ross) Perot Company, is an 18,000-acre master-planned, mixed-use community located in north Fort Worth. AllianceTexas offers a variety of commercial real estate options, including new industrial, office and retail space. Anchored by the multi-modal inland port known as the Alliance Global Logistics Hub, AllianceTexas is home to more than 370 companies, over 37,000 employees and integrated home options for any budget and lifestyle. - See more at: http://www.alliancetexas.com/#sthash.bEF7nc89.dpuf
The land is on I-35 and is a straight shot down Highway 114 from DFW Airport. The intermodal port has a large private airport used by FED EX (for example). I think it allows private aviation. There is a section that takes the intermodal trailers and moves them between the trains and trucks. It also is home to Texas Motor Speedway, Cabela's and lots of open space.

Yes it would! Part time employment for my retirement.
PS: I thought this sounded a bit familiar. This is from CBS 11 TV 5/31/13.
    http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2013/05/31/dreamvision-to-bring-family-friendly-entertainment-theme-park-to-fort-worth/
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 NEWS) - A Florida entertainment company is moving its headquarters to Fort Worth.
DreamVision is planning to build an 80,000 square foot studio and office.
Company leaders also say they will build a theme park in North Texas.
At this point an exact location has yet to be finalized.
“We see this as the future family entertainment capital of the world that’s a big statement to make,” says Chief Executive Officer Rick Silanskas. “There will be substantial opportunity as far as educational development in film, television, animation, and theme park development.”
DreamVision will have a big unveiling and party Saturday near the Convention Center in downtown Fort Worth where more specifics will be released.
There will be live music, food and a fireworks show company leaders describe as spectacular.
Silanskas says the company’s vision is simple: family values. “I wanted to return to a core set of values in family entertainment that I grew up with that you can take your mom, dad and grandma to a film or theater or musical production and not be afraid of something off color.”
Silanskas says they also want to show off technology they’ve been working on which takes animations to the next level.
The technology is behind a short animation called “Hooked.”
“The has the most experienced entertainment team in the world on the ground as we speak,” says Ron Logan who is a former Disney executive.
Logan has already recruited other execs with decades of experience to join him.
“It will go back to the values which I think the Disney company has gotten away from in my opinion,” says Logan.
DreamVision says it will bring a substantial number of jobs to Fort Worth, but declined to give an estimate.

Judy in Texas reacted to ependydad...Doug in My Dad is Superman
Ok, so the "Favorite Things Your Kids Have Said" thread sent me looking for old stories that I wrote to my family about my daughter. Fortunately I have used GMail for a long time and have actually saved them off in a special "Daughter Stories" folder. Here's one where we tried our first backyard camping before I would commit to taking DD tent camping.

I sent this to my Dad back in 2007 (she was about 4 at the time).

    ---

Dude - I never realised how smart I was as a kid -- I viewed you as some kind of superman that could do, build, accomplish anything.  I was (and still am) right. I knew we went camping - and, looking back, I don't remember many details.  I just know that we'd get there, I'd play, I'd eat and I'd have a place to sleep.  The details... well, they just took care of themselves.  In the last 8 or 9 years or so, I've learned that camping takes a fair amount of work - to keep it running. But, all of my camping has been in groups of adults and things just get done. Then, in my infinite wisdom, I think - "hey, I have Wednesday (July 4) off - Daughter and I should camp out in the backyard."  I should put "camp out" in quotes, as my goal was for us to simply sleep in the tent.  No food, no fire, nothing.... except for putting up that tent. I've done this a million times, I think:   - lay it out   - slide the poles through   - stick one end in   - shove the other into the pocket   - repeat on otherside   - throw rain fly overtop   - presto, chango, done. Thats where things got interesting.... I knew my 3 year old would want to help.  In fact, I was counting on it - those poles don't just stay in the pockets themselves. Except.... "Don't walk on the tent." "Sweetie, get back here - you're supposed to be helping." "Don't pull on that." "No, don't push that either." "Here, just hold this." "Hey, get back here..." "Wait, slow down..." "Yes, put your foot there." "No, the dirt won't help you." "Yes, you can do it." "Really, you can." "Oh crap, the other end popped out." "Hang on." "Sweetie, come back, please..." "Ok, hold here." "Yes, the worm is still in the grass." "Will you hold it?" "Ok, so you're telling me you want to know where it is, see it, possibly threaten to poke it, but will yelp when I pick it up to show you?" "Wait, come back - we're putting the tent up." "No, you can't hammer without my help." "Yes, this really is a tent." "No, it's not supposed to be flat - that's why we're erecting it." "'Erecting' means - 'putting it up'." "Oh damn, the pole popped out again." "Come on, come back!" (continues grunting, child is on the playset, I have 4-inch holes in my yard somehow) she says: "Wow, dad - a tent!  Can I get in it?" By this point, I'm pooped.  I still have to put the rain fly on, lay down the rules (no shoes in the tent, don't lay on the sides of it, don't trip over the guide strings, etc., etc.), get the bed, inflate the bed, make the bed, inflate HER bed, make her bed. I finally broke down and asked (well somewhere between demanding and begging) wife to help.  She took care of inflating beds and collecting stuff. Ultimately, in the tent we had:  - 2 beds  - 7 pillows  - 3 blankets   - 6 bags that stuff came out of  - 6 shoes  - 2 flashlights  - 3 people    - 1 extension cord  - 1 cpap machine  - 3 baby dolls  - 1 stuffed fish (which, mind you - we lost somehow) We attempted to sleep for 2 hours and ultimately gave up. Lesson learned?  Dad was a freakin' superhero.  Where do I get these special powers? Me.
