I have never done trip reports but my wife is starting to make small videos of our trips. So this is one from Top Sail when we were there in June. This is the closest I will get to a trip report. Enjoy.

    Yep... pretty much nobody.
That's the last time DH and I were there.  It was crazypants.  Fun, but crazypants.
After ToT ended we tried to drive through the 1600 loop with the GC.  I think it took us 30 minutes to get around the loop and we didn't bother stopping at the haunted house display, as there was nowhere to park the cart.
But that year Halloween was also on a Saturday and being on a weekend seems to make it a LOT more crowded.  Fingers crossed being on a Tuesday means it won't be so bad.

There was no line at all when we pulled in at 11am this morning - there were RV's in each lane save 1 - pull up and checked in quicker than ever before. Sites were 60-70% empty - but has filled up over the day.
I know lots of folks were moved to Monday check-ins from Saturday, so hopefully no busier than normal- campers that were displaced  moved back in today.

No damage at all - 300, 500, 1800 were closed that I saw. Pump truck going in and out.

I put a male 3 prong plug in the "neck" and a  female 3 prong plug in the top of the 2" pipe so I can take head off in transport - had it come apart too many times!

If anyone is going to be at the fort next week, I'm bringing two bodyless mickey heads that have lights in the head and a led that shines down from "neck" - going to dress them up as ghosts...hopefully.

    Welcome!

It's been my dream for years to stay at the fort over halloween.  We usually make it down every few years in mid-october for my Kid's fall break.  My youngest is now a Junior in HS and in two short years I will FINALLY get to stay at the Fort over Halloween - probably with no kids - now that I think about it, I guess that's a bit creepy...oh well.

    Hoping you get you ressie!

I'm pretty sure that as long as she's on your rezzie she should be able to use DME.
I think DME would be a great option. It's one of the best perks about staying on property.

As far as which truck I would go drive them and see what fits your budget best. Less miles and warranty is always better. But savings $10,000 between the first truck and the last one could pay for some repairs. Warranty only last so long but the truck note will be there for years.

Humphrey Bear…Rob reacted to h2odivers...Ray in Chime In to suggest your favorite regional food that I might not find outside of Florida/'TheSouth'
OP. It really depends on what your definition of "regional" is. I personally consider Florida as part of the south when it comes to food. So you'll find a few different things you might not regularly see in the New England region restaurants.
    Biscuits with sausage gravy.
    Red eye gravy
    Grits.
    Blackened fish or chicken.
    Southern fried chicken.
    Collard greens
    Just to name a few.
When I travel someplace new I always ask my waiter or waitress what do the locals order the most? I've never been disappointed yet.

Since I don't think I can discuss this rationally at this time without offending someone, I'd just like to thank all of those who are serving or who have served on this board in our Nation's fighting forces, our LEO's, and our Firefighters/EMS folks. Thank you.

I heard that it happened at the campfire.
Apparently Chip was mad at Dale for messing with his nuts and opened a big O'le can of whoop a$$ on him.

Humphrey Bear…Rob reacted to keith_h in Good overnight campground in Kentucky
I know this is a necro thread but just thought I would update results of our overnight stays at Kentucky campgrounds.

Elkhorn was a nice family oriented campground. We had a 30A back in site along the creek/river for $26. Most of the waterfront sites would not accommodate anything much over 20-25 feet but they do have larger sites on the interior loops. The bathrooms, though older, look to have been recently remodeled and were very clean. It was quite peaceful and quiet. Rene and I have decided to use it as our stop over for future trips. A quick warning: The entrance drive is narrow so look for oncoming traffic before going in.

Unfortunately I cannot say much for the KOA campground we stayed at on our way back home. It is located off of I-64 just before you get to Ashland. The site was very level side to side and not too bad front to back. All of the utilities looked to be fairly new and were all in working order. The bathrooms on the other hand were atrocious. There were bodily fluids on the floors and everything needed cleaning. There was a sign posted that they only monitored the bathrooms between the hours of 10AM and 11PM adding that if you you thought they needed attention to go to the office to report that they needed cleaning. Based on the way they looked in the morning they certainly don't attempt to clean them before 10AM.  It is also a party campground. From the time we arrived until well after quiet hours there was hollering and bottles clanking and management appeared to be some of the participants. We will definitely pass this one by in the future.

Humphrey Bear…Rob reacted to DinDavie in Planning on Tent only at FW, but wondering Golf Cart vs Refrigerator rental?
Do you have any experience with Orlando weather in late August.  I know its the value season and so the costs in the tent loop are reasonable in comparision to other times of the year.  I see people do it but it will not be comfortable.  The golf cart will save you money in that with it, you will be able to skip a day or two of going to the theme parks and just stay in the campground.  Golf carts are $50 a day and a theme park is $105 a day per person.  Renting a pop up is a good suggestion (because it will have a refrig and A/C)but it could be more expensive than buying a tent,$200, a box fan, $25.  a small refrig, $80. and a good air mattress, $60.  I would look at what Walmart has so that you can order it from Walmart.com in advance and have it waiting for you at the local store.  You won't need sleeping bags, just a sheet from home.  If your plans are still incomplete in July, sent me a PM.  I like to come up then only because the price is reasonable and I have a spare small refrig and fan.  It is still to early for me to make plans that far out.

I've been quiet, but I have to point out that alliegant flies out of knoxville to Sanford nonstop for $191 round trip - so less than 400 for two and apply the extra $$ to said preferred site ?
Lurkers - I know you are lurking and I want to point out that the folks on this site merely want your friendship or fiendship as it were. Meaning if you spend any time on this board, you'd know that TCD sounds like he always does - his TR's are a whimsical cornucopia of blunt observation and tongue in cheek. Friendship means you share- your pictures, stories, and you take the time to get to know the folks here. Go back and read the origins of this board. You will not find a nicer bunch of folks. But they will be quick to call BS - as friends do for each other.
I've learned rhino faces, not to hate the Gators quite as much, can't wait for an Anna hug someday, and actually want to put faces and people for names. You have to share...not take.
And as my daddy always said... You get more bees with honey than vinegar....
