  1. I personally have never been to FW (arrive july 8th), but do not have a problem with UTV's. as long as the people driving them are acting civil. they  sjould not be driven fast, say not over 15 mph. thats about the same speed as a stock golf cart. and kids should be supervised. if no adult is present, then the adult that witnesses the kids racing on a cart should stop them and take the keys and tell them to walk back and get your parents or guardian to come retrieve the cart. OR just bust that kids ass like they really need then escort them back to the parents and explain what happened! when I was growing up ANY adult in the neighborhood would correct all of the kids in the neighborhood, and then the parents would back that adult. all kids respected the adults in the neighborhoods, at least in their presence.

I know some of you may not agree with my point of view, but thats ok. I just dont think we should punish everyone for the few that act out. on our local beaches here in southeast texas, UTVs are allowed along with golf carts, as long as you dont get stupid and start flying down the beach.

  2. Thanks for all the info. Sorry I haven't replied before now, been very busy at work and home getting trailer ready for the trip.

We usually use the showers at the Rv parks we stay at. 3 teenage kids keep the shower tied up for a while plus no hot water after the first kid showers! Lol.

Are the showers free? Or do you have to buy tokens for the showers and toilets.

  3. I had a face to face conversation with a "Custodial Guest Service Manager" who reports to Sam Gates. Sam Gates is the Executive Housekeeper and he is a direct report to Doug Lord, the Wilderness Region GM.

The housekeeping department manages and maintains the Forts cabins and campsites.

I told him that a camper had called and was told that it would be ok to dump the grey water from an outdoor sink into the ground at the campsite. He informed me that who ever he spoke to was probably not even at the fort and may have been at a call center located off property. In other words, disregard that answer.

I understand that the OP has posted that he or she has decided against it but for future reference the answer to me was a very emphatic NO and that outdoor sinks are to be drained into the sink provided at the site.

This is not an opinion, not a judgement, just a direct answer from a Fort CM in a position of authority.

so did you ask this GM why they would have a call center offsite and not have the customers call directly to FW for questions and concerns? and mention that we need some way of actually reading a set of rules and regs for FW online or mailed to us when requested.

I cant even find a place on the disney website to input comments such as this.

  4. Here's the real problem as I see it. The Fort is built on reclaimed swamp land. The water table is not feet below ground, but inches. If you don't believe me, just loop around the 1900 loop sometime. Crisscrossing the Fort is a series of drainage canals leading to Bay Lake. The sink crap you drain goes right through that sandy soil into the water table, into the canals and lakes. What lives there? Gators, fish, frogs, nutria, ducks...FWGuy calls this lunch. I really don't want to grill up a nice gator tail only to have it taste like bacon and soap.

so when yall wash your vehicles, trailers, and other toys in florida yall contain all of the soap and runnoff so it doesn't make the wildlife talte like "soap". and when you wash off all of the love bugs off the front of your truck the wildlife taste like "love bugs" if that is the case can yall try some other flavors, you never know you may be on to something. naturally flavored alligator! lmao

  5. Good Lawd, who wrote those regulations?  For thousands of years humans simply pooped on the ground, and now we are at the point where if we accidentally spill some water that has a few coffee grounds and toast crumbs in it we need to cordon off the area and call in the military?  I completely understand the reasoning for having waste water regulations, but those seem a bit extreme.

I obviously have to agree with you. lol you have to use common sense here. I mean all the animals poop and pea on the ground and we sometimes step in it. but that don't kill us! I agree we need waste laws, if not there would be raw sewage on the ground everywhere.

I have always why it is so bad for us to put waste on the ground, but we use animal waste to fertilize our gardens????? chew on that for a while

  6. Yes, it seems that kitchen sink water is considered black water.  If that is really the case, shouldn't ALL campsites have a sewer drain, because as tenters, even though you might not have a toilet, you will still be washing dishes.  And according to those other rules, carrying your dishwater to a drain in an open container would also be a no no.  And if you happened to spill any of it, the campground is supposed to 'treat' the area, and possibly disposing of the soil, and sealing off the area from all contact for 24 hours!

its going to be a long line at the dump stations if you have to clean and dispose of the ground! lol there will be a big hole in the asphalt where the sewer connections drip when you disconnect it.

  7. now we are getting somewhere. thank you for posting all the links to FDH and the code on grey water. that is what I was looking for.... black and white documentation on the rules and regs, not someones opinion on how sick the native animals will get if they eat a crumb off the ground. lol

So the way I read it even if I ran a hose to the sewer I would still be in violation of FHD codes. I understand it has to be a sealed system, without any leaks.

    thanks

ftwildernessguy, and Big Kahuna aka John for posting the links for the codes.

I am NOT going to use my outdoor sink in Florida. lol  so all of you can rest easy now and unbunch your under garments lol  JK :flush2:

  8. Basically, you can (and apparently will) do anything you like. The grey water rule is I believe,a Florida rule, not just a Fort rule. You asked a question, it was answered to the best of everyone's ability, you did not like the answers and became ridiculous with your comments about dumping warm coke on the ground. It is apparent you were not looking for an answer, but validation. The fact that there is, right at the site, the means to dispose of this water properly and not just let it drain onto the soil but you apparently refuse to utilize it speaks volumes. Is that you, Colson? Where ya been, buddy?

I did ask if it was OK to use an outdoor sink, not wether or not everyone LIKES the idea. It doesn't matter if you or anyone else LIKES what I do as long as I am following the rules. I dont see a problem putting dish water on the ground as long as it doesn't make a mess of the camp site or my neighbors camp site. Contrary to your belief I DO care about my neighbors. there are several people on here that stated their opinions and not facts. after I called FW and confirmed I can use the sink, some people did not like the answer I received and started bashing me and the staff that answers the phones.

again you are stating your opinion that you think it is a florida rule.... are you sure of that????? how about checking on that before stating your OPINION!!!! and you talk about me doing whatever I want...... LOL thats the pot calling the kettle black

  9. ok update on the cart rental from central Florida golf car rentals. I emailed caroline yesterday asking if they actually deliver to FW and she responded they will meet you in the parking lot next door and get your extra scan card to enter FW. so basically she wants me to sneak her in to deliver the cart. not NO but heck NO!!!! im not risking my vacation for a few dollars.

called Matt and Rich at the golf cart shop sun city and they fixed me up for the ten days and yes they can deliver to FW, at least that's what I was told. lol tried to call Kenny, but he never answered or returned my call!

  10. well lou, the way i look at it this is a very large and busy rv park. they have thousands of people in and out of here each year, and from what I understand keep it up pretty well. I was surprised to hear they dont have the rules posted on the website, nor has any of the employees I have talked to been able to produce any type of rules packet. All I can do is call and ask question and recieve answers from the people answering the phone. Now if the people answering dont know or have the authority to answer questions then they(FW) need to let someone else answer the phone for these issues or publish a set of rules for the park, and add to them as incidents arise. I dont like to ask questions on forums like this because as h2odivers...Ray stated some poeple post their opinions. most of which are incorrect, hence just their opinion, no facts. I have called FW several times to get questions I have answered. this will be my first trip to FW and want to have the best time possible without causing any trouble with the staff at FW nor any other campers. I do appreciate when people like yourself post information on here that is straight from FW check in packet. I dont understand why they cant send me or email me that packet upon request??? I like to be prepared and know the rules ahead of time.

  11. our thoughts and prayers are with the people of OK that were involved in the recent tornados.

Sounds like it might have been someone in the Front Office.

The person that would have the definitive answer, and I would think that's what you want and not opinions, is the Executive Housekeeper who is in charge of what we think of as the Fort. I will personally ask him tomorrow.

Who knows, maybe it's ok to do what you want to do. It would be a good thing to know for future reference.

im not sure who she talked to but I told her what I was wanting to do and she confirmed that it was ok. I have tried to find some sort of rules and regs for FW but apparently they dont exist. I have even called several times and asked for a copy, but all they ever say is what is your question.

  13. We have an outdoor sink at our house at the lake were I clean fish and scrub big pots and clean my grill grates, etc. I have a strainer in the drain and the water runs out on the ground. I've never had an issue with critters or ants. Fish guts and others junk go into the strainer and then into the trash.

It's not like he's dumping his tanks on the ground.

thanks h2odivers, finally someone with some comon sense. lol

  14. AGAIN, Im not talking about dumping food all over the place, just soap and water. with all the kids running around a campground im sure a few chips get spilled on the ground, or a coke gets spilled on the ground. and for you to sit here and say you have never poured out a hot coke or some other drink while camping Is bs. just my opinion. IM done with this post. just wanted some info, not tree huggers opinions!!!!!!!

  15. so yall dont wash your hands with the water hose outside after getting them dirty? or pour out a drink on the ground inside the camp ground?

again Im not talking about dumping out food on the ground. if everyone did that there would be a problem. Im talking about some soap and water.. it is no different than someone washing their car or camper. its just soap and water.
