Arrived at the Fort on September 25.  Got evacuated on the 27th to POR  We were finally allowed to return to the Fort yesterday.

I think there are a few other Fiends who will be at the Fort while we're here.  Would love to see you.  Please stop by and say hello!

    Have a beautiful time 😊

Nacole suggest you contact Mostly Mutts in Kennesaw.  Please don’t call doggy jail because that really means doggy death row.  We have adopted two dogs and it’s a wonderful organization.  Constantly taking in sic ups and getting them healthy.

and BTW it’s not dogs that are stupid it is dog owners that are stupid

    No, dog's are not stupid...

I found Dodger a fantastic foster, through the rescue Forgotten Paws Rescue but... our sweet mama keeps getting out, so they are now needing help.  Dodger is a runner.  She is SUCH a sweet, SWEET girl... but she wants to roam.  If you know of anyone in the Atlanta area who would be a good fit, please have them reach out.  She's a love and would make a fantastic addition to someone's family.

Having fostered many dogs over the past 20+ years (and adopted a few besides) I can 100% confirm that dogs are, indeed, stupid... (and will make you cry)

...and also that y'all are completely lovely for taking this little family in and making sure they were well cared for and will land in homes that will appreciate and love their stupidness.  ;)

Good luck with their placements - they are very lucky dogs indeed. 🥰

    Thanks, Mo.

Baby girl pup was adopted today and to a wonderful, young couple.  Married 3 years, no kids or other pets.  They both grew up with dogs, she fostered dogs in college, he works FT from HOME, they just bought their first home with a FENCED in back yard.   I'm not sure that I could have asked the Lord for a better fit for this pup.  Miss her cute face, but my heart is full.

Next is baby boy pup and sweet mama dog.  Praying that the Lord would bring them their, furever family ❤️

  4. Some of you may have remembered the discussions surrounding Simon, our little pup and the struggles we've had with his separation anxiety.  Exhausting, no question.   With that, I've always professed, that I am NOT a dog person.  Do I like dogs?  Sure.  But am I dog person... no way.

So.. here's this busy mama, who is not a dog person, and I am now in the situation of "fostering" three pups.  A mama and two, 12 weeks old puppies.  Monday morning, we're trying to get out the door and my son yells, "there's puppies in the yard!"   I think he's seeing things so, as any good mama would do, I yell back... "it's probably a big squirrel."    Less than 15 minutes later and we have both pups and the mama.  I blasted all the "lost pet" social media sites, hung signs and then called the county that night around 5p.  The animal control officer shows up and... I can't do it.  Can't send them to doggy-jail.  So, I turn him away but not until he suggests taking mama to the vet to see if she's chipped.   Now it's 6:30p on Monday night and I'm in the car with mama, on the way to the vet.  They scan her and yay!  She has a chip!  I'm excited, but the vet tech says, "don't get too excited."    Vet tech was right.  The owner was located. The owner does not want them.   I know have two options:  doggy jail or find them homes.

This is where I am at.  Here is what I posted online:  It's hard to not get attached. Baby boy is the light brown pup. We've named him Micheal. He is a spitfire and a crack-up to watch. Baby girl is the black pup, we've named her Georgia. Georgia Grace. She is all puppy, but she is a shy pup. Such a sweet girl though when you pick her up. Mama... oh sweet mama. I love this pup. Those owners either a) ignored her or b) were not nice to her. She will literally crawl on her belly to come get love from you. We've spent the past 48 hours working with her and she has really started to come out her shell ❤️ She is so, SO sweet. She did fantastic in her crate last night, even waited to go potty until we took her out this morning. She does well with kids and so far just gets excited to see other dogs. They are all, wonderful pups. Mama is 2-3 years old. Pups are 12 weeks.

Having these dogs has been SO much work.  But, on my gosh, they are such good pups.  Baby girl may be going to her forever home tonight and I'm already tearing up because yes... dogs are stupid.  Stupid, exhausting little creatures that take up your time and your money.  It's dumb.  But, my heart hurts, which is ridiculous because I am tired and they both need and deserve good homes.

So, next it's on to baby boy... who I think is the friendlier of the two pups and will be (much) easier to train.  He's the dog that will tear into your flowers but crack you up at the same time.  Hard part is...he's a mama's boy, so it's sad to break them up.  And mama... sweet mama.  If I could handle another dog, this non-dog person would keep her.  She is such a good dog.  She deserves the best home.

Ugh.  I'm not going to cry.

    Dogs are stupid.

Couldn't agree more.  We were there in January and it was so disappointing.   It was our first stay at the Fort in almost 5 years and I don't see us coming back again any time soon.  The whole Disney Genie, Genie + and Individual Lighting Lane arrangement is a disaster.  It is expensive beyond belief for a family of 4, and the Disney IT structure keeps stalling or failing completely.  Not to mention that it burns through your phone's battery like lightning.

We resorted to taking turns getting in standby for the rides we really wanted to do while the others did bathroom breaks and the lesser rides they wanted to.   Took a sandwich and a water bottle and bumped along.

Like you we are also DVC members and even the so-called "perks" we're supposed to have were non-existent.

For a supposed 50th Anniversary celebration all Disney wants is the money for high priced, low quality merchandise.

They have lost the "magic" they had.

    😔

Seriously...every time I hear this, it makes me sad.

I just wanted to drop a line about our current trip, we are here in a Treehouse early Feb 2022 and have to say this has been probably the most dis-appointing trip we have ever done (out of at least 20 or more). Crowds have been very high for this time of year, does not help there is a Cheer-Dance competition here this week either. Lines have been extremely long, and we decided against the extra cos for their new fast pass version. If it was not for the very little extra magic half hour, we would have only gotten on a couple attractions or rides, I will say they are trying to fill things up with lesser shows and such but not a lot of options in each park. We are DVC Members and seeing how things are now we would never buy now and if offered decent money would even sell our points.

I'm so sorry to hear this.  I've heard that from many...that they are only able to ride a few rides because of the lines.  Taking away the FPs was HUGE for us.  Not only are prices way up, but essentially you're paying a ton of money to stand in long lines :(

Grandma and I still enjoy the TIKI Room and probably since it was one of the first attractions we saw when we were at DL in 1969.  (I know we're old). It was our first trip to the park together since she came to visit me when I was stationed in San Diego.

    What a sweet memory❤️

Okay... lots to catch up.  First, thanks for taking the time to share your trip.  I know it's a lot of work.   We were at the Fort at the beginning of November and did the halloween party at the MK and one day at MGM.  For us, so much feels different... it's a little sad.  But, I still like hearing about the joy others find.  I know this trip was bittersweet, mama.  My heart ached for you when you described the fireworks moment.  I am, again, so sorry for your loss.

Sorry that there were some technical bumps, but all-in-all it sounds like a nice trip.   The comment on the Hall of Presidents made me laugh.  We thought those Star Wars Lego characters were amazing!  But I do wonder if I'm the only one who misses the old DTD.  When we'd go to the Fort, we used to go to DTD 2 or 3 times.  This time we were in the area for 11 nights and only spent about an hour or two in "Disney Springs".  Bleh... just not my thing.  Expensive shops and restaurants and truly a "if you build it they will come" environment because it always feels SO crowded.  To each his own I guess.  Obviously LOTS of people like it    Tree at The Polynesian was really pretty!

Chapek has stated that he doesn’t like APs because they don’t spend enough $$$.  They want fewer people willing to spend a boatload of $$$ during their stay.

I fully understand they are a money making business, but they are going to make it too costly for Joe and Jane Average to afford to go to the parks.

They "are going to make it too costly"...?  Sadly, I think that happened a while ago.   I think most families either cannot afford the parks or just a 1 or 2 day visit :(

In broad macroeconomic terms, it’s not surprising that there are more people willing to purchase APs, even at increased prices, than Disney wants to sell.  This is no different than many consumer goods that are sold out and unavailable.  Simply speaking there is more cash in the economy than places or things to spend it on.  The government has added historic amounts of liquidity to the markets.  It has driven stock prices up, and we’ve all seen what the housing market has done.  Same with food, cars…and yes, Disney World.  But never fear, a recession will come and these trends will change.  That’s not a political comment, just an economic certainty.  Cycles are what they are.   Someday APs may be reasonably priced and abundant again.  And we’ll all still be complaining we can’t afford them because we’re broke.  😂

Possibly.  It will be interesting to watch on all fronts.   No question that we seem lined up (very neatly) for a large economic crash.  Time will tell my friend.

Ok it's been a few very busy days. We got to stop in and see Gwen and David. It's been a few years since we have seen anyone from the forum and it was nice to see them. Was glad to see Gwen doing much better than she was a few years ago when she was in some pain when she was here.

Overall we have done very few rides but a LOT of eating. So far the highlight was our trip today into Epcot for Space 220. I was lucky to grab a reservation the first day I could. The experience was awesome and my flat iron steak was great. Prices were high for the portions but I guess you pay some extra for the experience.

So happy that you got to see Gwen and David ❤️

Ahhh.... the Mouse has trained you well.   Paying more to get into the parks, riding fewer rides and then paying a lot for food.  Yep, the Mouse always wins.

The bands are linked to the person on My Disney Experience account. The tickets get linked to the persons account as well. If they are linked to a different account from the Magic bands they cant really use both. And old bands cant be transferred in MDE. Once linked they cant be transferred.

Jason... you know me... hold my hand

We have lots of bands.  If each one of us, used one that was originally assigned to us (they have our names on them), will those work for part tickets if we buy them?  What about the Boo tickets... ?

Nacole,  How long will you guys be there?  I arrive on Monday, 11/1 and leave on Wednesday 11/10...

Yay!!  We move over the Fort on the 1st... still working out the end date.  We have reservations as long as you, just looking at a couple of things.

    See you soon!

The road is still used, as Jason said.  When riding the bus, you can see where the hiking trail was.  All asphalt is gone but there are some drainage culverts that have been installed and signs that eventually the trail will return.  Who know how long it will be delayed since Reflections is certainly not close to starting or being cleaned up.

I did see last Sunday that some flags were placed along the trail marking piping or wiring, but have no idea if that is related to any progress on bringing the trail back.

Sad..sad..sad.   Truly, riding my bike is my FAVORITE thing to do at the Fort.  I loved the trail to the Lodge.  Ugh.

Just there yesterday.  Jason is correct; the boats are not running, and there is no movement on opening the trail.  It is not paved at this point with no preparation underway.  The bus isn't bad right now.  Just pick up the yellow bus that is heading twards the Settlement from the Outpost.  From the Settlement it continues to Wilderness Lodge.  Never have an issue and use it frequently.

The road that the bus used to use (by the old barn and next to the bike/walking path)... is that still there or did they tear that up too.  So sad over all this :(

Here's to a normal-ish Halloween at the Fort!  Hope all of you that will be there have a fabulous time.  🙂

Thanks, Mo.  We will be there... kind-of.  The Fort overbooked and Jason worked with Disney to get us some pretty nice perks, for staying the weekend over at Port Orleans (even with crazy pup Simon ), but we will still have access into the Fort.  For the most part, I imagine we'll only sleep at the resort.  Then again...I'm a bit of a germaphobe, so I may sleep in the rig out in the lot

Other than the parking, it is hard to find anything wrong with the Old Mill.  The restaurant is great, as is the Pottery House Cafe nearby.  Never tried the Applewood Farmhouse restaurant.

We really like The Pottery House Cafe.   Funny enough, the restaurant Local Goat is ALWAYS busy, but we've never eaten there.

I think 2 days at Dollywood will be enough.  However, take a look at ticket prices for 2 and 3 days, and compare to season pass prices, as some years if you buy a season pass in December you get the next year free.  Of course if a return trip in 2022 isn't in the cards then that doesn't help you.

As far as other things to do, if the weather is cooperative, I recommend Anakeesta in Gatlinburg.  We also enjoyed the Titanic exhibit.  If you are looking for snow activities, Ober Gatlinburg is worth a look.

I'd recommend having lunch or dinner at the Old Mill restaurant, and/or the Applewood Farmhouse restaurant.  The menus are pretty similar, so you may only want to do one, but we enjoy them both.  If ice cream is your thing, you can't beat the Old Mill Creamery.

I agree on the 2 days, keeping in mind that most of the rides are roller coaster style (for this reason, the park is better fit for our daughter and Tom, but not myself and our son).  It's visually a very pretty park (but hilly which can be tough for some).

We liked the Old Mill Creamery, but the Apple Valley Creamery comes out ahead for our family ^_^
