  1. Here are some pictures of the sunset at the Canyon: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.974022875958076.1073741830.100000511177427&type=1&l=8f6d2912cd
  2. Enjoyed Texas. Very nice people. Really enjoyed the Cracker Barrel in Amarillo (the Cracker Barrel on the west side of the city just off I-40). VERY nice service there.
  3. That is a trip not to be missed. It was our third time to the Grand Canyon, and it is always special. Defines the term "Breathtaking". Arches and Canyonlands were beautiful and memorable as well, but the Canyon is always special. Next time we'd like to get back to Bryce Canyon and Zion.
  4. It worked well for us. When we were tired of driving, we would just pull into a good rest stop, or a Flying J and park in the designated area for RVs/Campers. Worked well for us. There is a phone App called RVParky that will show you on a map the different locations and whether or not you are allowed to stay there overnight. On the way out, after a few hours of driving after work, we stopped at an I-75 rest stop just north of Gainesville, then we stopped in Louisiana, about 3 miles from the Texas Border (in a Flying J), and then in a rest stop just inside New Mexico. On the way back, we s
  5. Let me know if this link works. These were taken on our hike down Bright Angel Trail at the Grand Canyon: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.973915992635431.1073741829.100000511177427&type=1&l=41803d421d
  6. Rather than heading to the Fort, all the way from Clermont, FL, we decided to go long distance last month. We just got back from a 2 week trip to the Grand Canyon and Moab, UT for our 30th wedding anniversary. What a great trip! We towed the camper a little over 5,000 miles and the Ram 1500 and the camper were perfect. We towed in rain and in some heavy cross winds of over 35MPH and the Andersen Hitch did a great job of controlling sway. We had another camper pass us in strong crosswinds, and that trailer was all over the road. The Camplite with the Andersen hitch would sway in one direc
  7. The Christmas store at Downtown Disney has plenty of them as of today.
  8. Update: Had about 6 splat on my windshield while driving in Clermont today, but still not bad.
  9. In mid August when we were at the Fort last, we were given a card and told the MBs still do not work at the comfort stations. Didn't try them though.
  10. The best app I have is RVParky (available for free). It will take your location, and on a map show nearby Pilot, Flying J and Travel America stations. It will also show Walmarts, Cracker Barrels, Camping Worlds, rest stops and campgrounds. If you tap on any location, a list of amenities for that location will appear, including whether or not you can stay overnight (such as at a Walmart or rest stop). You can scroll the map as well to check out your whole trip before leaving. Another app called iExit is also pretty good. It will provide a map showing many different establishments such a
  11. We enjoy Lake Louisa and camp there even though we live in Clermont. As Lou stated, it is only about 20 minutes away or so, and is located right on Rt 27. Here are some pictures I posted (CLICK HERE) I believe there are 18 full hookup sites.
  12. They can work the system though. Last New Years Eve we had reservations at the Wave for lunch. On December 30th, I checked MyDisneyExperience and noticed that my reservation was gone. I then got my reservation confirmation # and called Disney reservations. The woman there was very nice. She looked up my reservation and said, "Well, you had concierge at the Boardwalk cancel your reservations yesterday afternoon." When I told her I wasn't even at the Boardwalk yesterday she tried calling the restaurant and all they could say was try coming over anyway and hope to get in, the system would no
  13. My wife and I had our big honeymoon dinner at the Empress Lilly in 1984. Miss it since the change. Ironically, our daughter had her rehearsal dinner at Fulton's Crab House. It's still good, but showing it's age a bit.
  14. It all depends on your use. In our case, my wife and I are recent empty nesters, plus our dog died last year. So, now that it is just the two of us, we have the ability to be more flexible, apart from our jobs. My wife grew up camping with her parents and 5 brothers and sisters (8 years between oldest and youngest). Her parents progressed from a ten foot Scotty ending at a 31 ft Airstream. So, she was used to a TT. I had never camped, but leaned towards a TT as well since I could use the pickup for other things (we live in a rural area near Disney) and I also like the ability to easily r
  15. I agree with this 100%. I stay in the preferred sites a good bit, but I only have a 24' travel trailer. Backing a 42' RV into a preferred spot would be much more difficult than a premium site. Plus, you'll have more room for the tent in a premium site.
  16. Absolutely, don't disagree a bit. We spend our time watching the movie in France wondering how many of the people are dead, or how old the children are now. Maelstrom is a form of aroma therapy for me, bringing me back to my childhood days of rummaging through my parents damp basement. The countries have changed very little, although Italy and Morocco have new restaurants and the American Adventure has a new bathroom. All of that said, the concept is still good. We enjoy walking through the shops, and find the World Showcase a very pleasant place to be and enjoy. While they need updat
  17. That picture even has his Camaro in it. That's the car he sold to start the business.
