  1. Thanks for the well wishes for Tish, everyone. It's been a long year and a half for her struggling with back pain. I think there is now light at the end of the tunnel. She started crying on our way home and I asked her what was wrong. She said "I am sitting here completely pain free".

I enjoyed watching the replay. I'm wondering how it's going to look outside the park though, as it does rely on the castle projection quite a bit. We don't get party tickets.

We watched it from the beach at FW. I'd say it is about like Happily Ever After. There's more downtime than Wishes or Hallowishes. We enjoyed it.

Ok.....picking up a 2013 Bounder 35k in Jacksonville on Saturday!

Got a real good deal on it as long as it's as advertised.

I also have a line on 2 other coaches that are at amazing prices from private owners if anyone else is looking.

The Reflection sold in about 10 minutes even with the R Title....guess I should have asked from more!

All in all its about an even swap with the 5th wheel and selling my dually.  Now looking to see if we should flat tow the wife's Edge or get an F150.

It did cross my mind to sneak to the Fort for one night but that may be asking for trouble with a rig we dont know.

If it all pans out I'll update.

    Thanks for everyone's opinions.

    Congrats on the new rig!

    Thanks for the review!

So thoughts on how it goes over for someone totally not into Star Wars? I think DH only saw the very first movie and didn't dig it - I have no idea why I married him.  ;)

Neither of us are huge Avatar fans, although we did see the movie, but we really do enjoy Pandora.

Same thing with GE or should I force him into a movie marathon some weekend before we go?

Id say some knowledge is helpful, but even without it the land is amazingly well done.

  5. We rode it again this morning. Bode and I were pilots this time. The pilot role is noticeably better than the engineer position. Still not as good as it could be if it was 3D.

The Cantina is pretty cool. Drinks are expensive, but you're there more for the experience.

I agree with much of what he said. I will say though Smugglers Run has something going for it FoP does not. Almost anyone can ride it. It’s a simple lap belt restraint and the open feel eliminates the claustrophobic effect of Mission Space. As some one who will never be able to ride FoP or Mine strain I am super excited for a new ride I can actually ride.

Yes, accessibility is good for this ride. Tish rode it 3 weeks out from a double back fusion

  7. The overal athestic of the land is top notch. The textures, the layout, the sounds, etc are very well done. Better than Pandora, I think. I really liked the bazaar area attached to Ronto's Roasters. Even the restrooms are cool. The gift shop adjacent to Smugglers Run is really nice. The artifacts on the walls are amazingly detailed. Overall it truly feels like another world. It is also really nice at nighttime.

The lightsaber build experience was also very cool. The CM that we had directing it was great. He really pulled you into the story and made it feel real. Bode absolutely loved it.

Smugglers Run ride was kind of "meh" for me. It was good, but not jaw dropping like I felt when riding FoP for the first time. The que,  however, is almost as good as the ride. I really wish it was 3D. I feel like Star Tours is more exciting.

I hope RotR is a standout. SR is about a 30 minute wait tops, IMHO.

Overall it is really good. The CM's and characters in the land do a great job of making it seem like you're really in a Star Wars movie location.

Oh yes. I definitely did and it is awesome. While it is on the expensive it is leaps and bounds over the toy ones you can build or the cheap plastic ones you buy. The experience was awesome. If you are on the fence I don’t think you will be disappointed. Expescially for a Star Wars fan.

Bode has a reservation on Friday night. He is so stoked.

Minimal storm here. Some wind and rain but only some loose palm fronds down and tiny twigs. Rain was heavy at times last night but puddles are already shrinking.

My flight home tonight was cancelled. Now flying home tomorrow night. Disney extended me here at Caribbean Beach for the same price I would have paid for my tent site of $61.88 and got me late check out of 1 pm.

Good to hear. I hope they let us check in early at the Fort on Thursday. I plan on being there about 9 am. I figure there will be plenty of open sites. lol

  10. We check in on Thursday. Originally, we were supposed to check in tomorrow. They would only allow us to check into Port Orleans tomorrow or cancel. Pushing our arrival back wasn't an option. Today, I was able to reserve Thursday through next Sunday after checking multiple times with zero availability.  I guess I checked it right after they opened it back up.

    But at $2000/night that’s $250/ person/ night.  Bungalows sleep 8 people

They are supposedly going to be $1440 per person for a two night stay or $720/ person/ night.  That’s almost three times as much as one of the highest priced rooms at WDW.

That seems really steep to me and I’m a long time star wats fan who would love to experience it.   I think I would do it if I could get the “cabin” for half that price for my family of four

Yeah, I'd probably pay 3500 to do it once for the kids.

I think it works great without the 3D because the screens wrap around the cockpit, and respond to what the six passengers in the capsule are doing. But, even with that, you know you're in a simulator, and there certainly is no sensation that you're flying. It's a good simulator ride. Not anywhere near as unique or intense as FOP.

    TCD

Ok last question. Is there any movement to the pod that you're in or do only the screens react?

Smuggler's Run is a good ride.  But it's really just an improved version of Star Tours.

The quick serve restaurant in Galaxy's Edge does have indoor air conditioned seating. But the indoor space is too small, and they're charging $16-18 for quick serve entrees that are definitely on the small side.

Allegedly the Rise of the Resistance ride is going to be ground breaking, but I've heard a lot of rumors about technical glitches, and that could be a huge problem.

How is Smuggler's Run without 3D? I always liked that about Star Tours. It seems without 3D it would just look like a tv screen in the window.

I saw a FB post about ROR( so it must be true), that the contractors either messed up on the roof drains or didn't get them installed in time, causing flooding inside  ruining a lot of the equipment/electronics that was already in place.

I can't find the original post, and I haven't seen any other mention of that happening.

The poster said he would be very surprised that the ride will open in time due to the extensive damage.

Could be true, could be a Troll, who knows anymore...

I saw that post too. It's plausible, but DL ride is delayed too. It is hard to believe it is building related possibly on both. I would put my money on ride technology or associated hardware issues.

Hey, that's how people with $ to start with keep it and make more.

They (or their accountants) watch their spending.

LOL I guess. Unless it was an expensive lamp shade she probably spent more in gas and time returning it. I once worked for a guy who was tighter than tree bark. He sent me back to a place to get a refund on a part that was less than $2. He literally wasted more gas than that....plus paying me.

Years ago I worked at Burdines (kind of like Macys) and they prided themselves on customer service.

One time a women returned a lampshade that she found at her mothers house after she passed.

Her mother had purchased it 20 years previously, had never used it, was still in the plastic wrap, and the receipt was attached.

They gave her the $ back.

Of course the lampshade got tossed since it was yellowed and a brand/model that was dropped 15 years earlier.

She must have been hard up for $
