People ask from time to time what groceries are available at the Meadows, and what prices run. I took these a couple of weeks ago. It's not everything, but a pretty good example of the staples...

We bought eggs, bread, chips, sugar and a couple of other staples at the trading post.

All in all I think it came to about $40, which was probably $10 more than I'd have paid at the market.

It was more than worth the $10 to me not to spend the time or gas to go out and get them.   :)

Thanks for posting the photos Mo!

It's always fun to look at the prices.

I remember a discussion about the trading post prices on another thread a while back and the point being made that the prices on perishable items like milk and eggs have always been less inflated than the outrageous mark-up on dry goods and alcohol.

They need to keep the perishable stock moving, so they keep those prices more realistic so the stuff sells.  It's a good thing for Fiends to keep in mind.  Fill your cooler with beer, and buy the eggs and milk after you get there.

Yepper!! Had to buy milk on our recent Nov. 7th trip and it was $2.49 I believe for a 1/2 gallon which is not far off from your standard grocery store price.

Florida has always had crazy milk prices.  I can get a full gallon for that here.

My daughter in Omaha drives me crazy telling about her cheap milk and other grocery bargains. You are correct about Fl milk prices considering it's the second largest dairy producing state in the country. It's all because of the way the govt has the pricing set up.

  • 1 year later...

When we stay at the hotel resorts, we'll have groceries delivered so that we have a crap ton of water and will have snacks. It may be helpful for folks without cars to schedule a deliver to the fort.

We've actually done that before. We used wegoshop and were very pleased. I think we can make it the week, but may use them if not.
