Show me your Mickey light... Trying to decide on ear size

Recommended Posts

I used silicone adhesive/sealer on mine too and it worked fine until I somehow knocked an ear off while unpacking it.  When I went to repair it, all I had was gorilla glue so I used that, it's super strong now but you can see the orange dried glue so I don't recommend the gorilla glue.

8" ears look too big on a 12" globe to me.    I always use 12" globe and 6" ears.   Of course, t's a matter of personal preference.

I've used this basic approach for several lamps with good luck:

I make the post in two pieces so I can disassemble for storage / travel.

I didn't glue my ears at all - used a 3 inch hole saw and the 3" lip of the 6" ears fits (with a little encouragement!) into the hole  Put 6" ears on 12 inch globe.   The ears can turn - I did put some silicone on the seam a year later, just for weatherproofing.
