I'm heading to De Kalb Texas ( bet know one has ever heard of that town) right now and I know they don't have a Walgreen but if someone could send a picture of Flat Snarky to my iPhone via text I know Walmart can print it from my iPhone as a regular picture. Thanks to a fellow fiend who's name I won't mention as she may be guilty of trademark infringement and I don't want to get Beckers in trouble with AuburnJen and Super Geek. Oops!Flat Snarky and I decided to hit the Talimena drive. It goes from Mena Arkansas to Talihina oklahoma. Do to weather and since I was working we didn't do the whole drive and quickly made are way to Poteau Oklahoma. Unfortunately it was extremely cloudy so none of the pix were worth a darn so I borrowed a few from photobucket. Courtesy of culah1This is why we went to Poteau. Again, it was to cloudy to get good pic so we decided to just take a pic of the world's largest hill. Next we went back into Arkansas. Fort Smith Arkansas. Ft Smith is home to Isaac C. Parker, the Hanging Judge of Fort Smith. Fort Smith was the western boundary of the United States and the Indian territories. It's worth stopping and exploring the old fort, it's grounds, and the "hell on the border" jail. Especially if your a history buff or old westerns. Over 70 criminals met their maker in the gallows. Fort Smith has a big historic downtown area with lots of great restaurants and shops. For you late night people, the bars and clubs stay open till 4:00 am or 5:00 amAnd they even have old trolley cars. It's not a great pix. I was running late and had to get going and didn't have time to go chase it down and try to get another pic of it. They even have a Ferris wheel down by the river. sWell it was time to head to the lake. But Flat Snarky wanted to stop and play a little. Actually we just ran in to get a sammich. There are tons of casinos in oklahoma and most of them have restaurants and or a grill that have pretty good food and cheap prices. And most have RV parking and will let you overnight. Some even have full hook ups. We finally made it back home. I love this view. It's the first view that greets me when we are going to the lake. Lake Tenkiller. A question for Snarky, did he try to go into any of the clubs? Apparently the clubs/bars near where my SIL lives you needed to be a member or a guest of a Member in order to get in. At least it was that way about 20 years ago. Not sure if that was just there or in the whole state. Not even sure if that is the case now. Glad Snarky was able to relax at the lake. He wasn't far at all. Springdale is about 60 miles north of Ft Smith. No be didn't go into any of the clubs. And I Ft Smith doesn't have private clubs. Each county in the state makes their own liquor laws. I don't know about the Springdale area. But I think they now have liquor by the drink. It's pretty close to the university of arkansas so I can't imagine throat laws are still on the books. I go to Paris Texas all the time and up until a few years ago they still had the private club rule and you had to go to the next county over to buy beer or booze. The private club thing was just silly. You walked into the club and if you weren't a member they made you one. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
