I hope we get some more Fiends on the scene this coming spring.  We have plans for Fall and will report then.  Sounds like the most anticipated or feared development has begun.

The Wild Womenz will be there late next week. In between our usual shenanigans we'll have to do some snooping.  😎

Coincidentally, beginning this fall Mickey's Backyard Massage Parlor and Casino will begin offering the Naughtily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party.  Enjoy a buffet dinner at Minnie's Ho Down Smorgas

Can't change it, can't stop it, enjoy it while you can, that's my plan.

You should all get fitted for body cams so you don't have to take time out to go take pictures.

Just record everything that goes on for the weekend!

To paraphrase from the Las Vegas tourism board...

What happens at Wild Womenz Weekend STAYS at Wild Womenz Weekend.

New in the last few days:  As you approach the MK ticket gate, and then get right for the FW exit, at the junction with Vista Drive,  there is considerable construction on the left side of Vista drive.  Much in the way of clearing trees and brush.  Ropes with pennants marking off areas going deep in the woods.  Could this be the new road or construction access for the RC development?

New survey markers seen on the old FW RR right of way cross from the Settlement bus stop.

Final note for this trip.   Survey stakes appearing like weeds in the PH and barn areas.  Another new batch located between PH and the Settlement Trading Post, in the grassy area adjacent to the the wagon rides.

There were hundreds of stakes with yellow flags all along Vista Blvd and heading into the woods, and I thought I saw some heavy machinery in the woods between the exit ramp to the Fort and that first canal you cross heading to the Fort.

Here is something I stumbled on regarding Commencement Notices filed with the county... Not sure if it adds to the discussion or to the confusion...

I also noted all of the survey stakes when we were there last weekend.  Took some photos, will attempt to see if I can figure Imgur out and post them.

I have to say, the placement of some of them was unsettling.

You have to remember many survey stakes are reference points since the new system uses GPS and trees block the signal. We even set points like that when we did it the old (manual) way.

Mercy... I hope so.  If not, what the heck?!!

I think this is the case.  We were walking around on Sunday.  Most of the stakes in the settlement area have "LOC" written on them; and I assumed that meant they were locator stakes. they had yellow flags on them.  There were flags along the trail to Wilderness Lodge just east of Frontier Way that were labeled "silt fence".  Makes me wonder if that is where the new entrance road for Reflections will be placed.  There were blue flags near the Settlement leading to the Mickey's Backyard BBQ building labelled "Boundary" or something similar.  Also, walking down to Clementine's Beach, we could see orange flags just on the other side of the fence in the River Country area labeled "Buffer".

Okay... so I am completely confused.  WHERE exactly is this new resort supposed to be?  I was thinking it would be behind (what was) the BBQ and then from the bus road to the Lodge... in between that road and the water.  But... no??

If you are looking at the BBQ building, the area to the right and behind the BBQ building (the fenced off area where River Country used to be) is the spot for Reflections.  The parking area will extend out to where the BBQ building and I assume the barn are currently located.  I am hoping that the Boundary stakes I saw show where the parking area ends and the existing Fort Wilderness remains.

Thank you.

Sigh... good and bad.  Some new things to look at, but a lot more folks will be running through the Fort.  So much nature, removed :(   Oh... and the boat.  Do you think this new resort will have it's own water taxi to the MK?  I imagine so.

I would think it will have its own boat.

I know someone involved with this.  He said a big concern of his and others is how it will affect the atmosphere at Fort Wilderness.  They've been working to minimize the impact since the charm and the feeling of isolation of Fort Wilderness is what makes it so special.  Hopefully they will be able to strike the balance.  He thinks in the end it will be very nice.  I hope so.

I hope so also.

But in the end the bean counters will always win.

If they can cut down a 1000 trees and increase their bottom line $100 they will do it.
