I know we had info on the announced Star Wars Resort buried in another thread, but figured it might be good to give it one of its own. This news came out of D23 Japan this weekend...

Star Wars-Inspired Resort Planned for Walt Disney World Resort Promises to be ‘Unlike Anything That Exists Today’

Jennifer Fickley-Baker

by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Editorial Content Manager, Walt Disney World Resort

Last summer, we announced plans for an immersive Star Wars-inspired resort to be built at Walt Disney World Resort. Tonight we’re happy to share more details on what this thrilling new resort, which will be seamlessly connected to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, will be like.

This first-of-its-kind resort will combine luxury with complete immersion into an authentic Star Warsstory. Guests’ journey through space will start when everyone departs together for a multiday Stars Wars adventure by boarding a starship alive with characters and stories that unfold all around them during a voyage through the galaxy.

At the resort, guests immediately become active citizens of the galaxy and can dress up in the proper attire. Every resort window will also have a view into space. The opportunity for immersion at this resort will also stand out among all Disney resorts around the globe, as it will be seamlessly connected to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, allowing guests a total Star Wars experience.

Keep your eye on the Disney Parks Blog for future updates on this fascinating place!

Will there be a spa?  I'm hoping for Jabba's Backyard Massage Parlor and Casino, staffed with masseuses in Slave Leia outfits.

Maybe they can pull off something like the Hogwarts Express at Universal.

The thought of a pedestrian bridge is incredibly underwhelming, especially when compared to the speculation earlier in this thread of something along the lines of Hogwarts Express.

New Details Released On Star Wars Hotel – How It Connects To Galaxy’s Edge In Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Finally, there are details on where the Star Wars Hotel at WDW and you won't believe where it will be located.

It was one of the most unexpected and shocking announcements made at the D23 Expo in July, and finally, fans have a little bit more info on the Star Wars resort hotel. Walt Disney World is actually going to have a resort that immerses guests into a world unlike any other, and it is going to be more connected than people may think. That’s right, it will actually be connected to Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The D23 Expo 2018 took place in Japan this weekend and it brought forth a lot of news for all of the Disney Parks around the world. The Disney Parks Blog reported all of the news as the writers stayed up late in the United States to bring everything to the fans, and Star Wars fans have every reasonto rejoice.

2019 is going to be huge as Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is going to open on both coasts, but Disneyland is going to get it first. While DLR may have that advantage over Walt Disney World, the east coast Disney fans are going to have something else to boast about – the Star Wars-inspired Resort.

Believe it or not, the location has been revealed and it is going to be right next to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The Star Wars-inspired resort planned for Walt Disney World will connect seamlessly with the #StarWars: #GalaxysEdge land: https://t.co/j6aNx8tF1y #D23ExpoJapan18 pic.twitter.com/X4944fck6r

That’s right, this immersive experience of a hotel will be “unlike anything that exists today,” and it is going to “seamlessly connect” to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. An exact location for the new resort has not officially been revealed, but it will have to be very close to that back portion of Studios to connect in the way that Disney is talking about.

Yes, it is still called Disney’s Hollywood Studios and will be for the time being. Disney recently revealed that the expected name change is not coming anytime soon.

Disney states that arriving at the new resort will take them on a journey through space for a multiday Star Wars adventure. Not only will the board a starship, but there will be characters all over the place and a story that unfolds during their stay inside the hotel.

Much like how it will be in Galaxy’s Edge, the decisions that guests make in their daily lives will reflect how the story shapes to their stay.

Guests staying at the resort will be able to dress up in the attire that is befitting of someone in the Star Wars saga. Every single resort window will not look out into the everyday world, but into space, and you will move even deeper into your story as it connects to Galaxy’s Edge.

The new land of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is going to be absolutely huge at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, but there is so much more to come. These new details about the Star Wars-themed resort hotel are just something to make fans even more excited about what will happen in the future. For those taking part in their own Star Wars story at the resort, there will be even more waiting for you as it connects to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

This blogger is making a galactic leap in staying this.

The announcement says the transitions between the park and hotel will be seamless. That doesn't necessarily mean that the two will be physically touching. They could have themed buses that they will use to seamlessly shuttle guests back forth.

Personally, I think the hotel will be contiguous with the park, but Disney has not revealed the location.

I never thought about how they’d get from the hotel to the park. Walking down a path lined with trees in pots on wheels wouldn’t be very exciting but themed busses or something would be awesome. I’m excited to see it but won’t ever be staying there. TCD I hope you will one day and will bring out your old trusty trip reporting writing skills.

I've been working at DHS a lot lately, mostly at the SW dessert party, and yes, I have to wear a silly Star Wars themed costume and often have to carry a Light Saber when escorting guests to the Center Stage area for the show. Hopefully there are no photos. But I digress, CMs have to enter through the entrance off Osceola Pkwy which takes you by all the SW construction. I've noticed a huge area being cleared and based on unofficial reports, that's where the SW resort will be located. It's known that the area in question is the parking lot expansion, but only half of the site is for additional parking, the back half is said to be where the resort will be located. It makes sense if that's correct, guests will be able to look out their window and see the new SW land.

I'm curious about some things regarding this resort.  First, will people not staying there be able to resort hop to check it out?  I would like to think that answer is no, as a bunch of schmucks in jorts and flip flops would kind of spoil the immersive feel of being on Coruscant or Tatooine, or on a Star Destroyer.  Also, will the resort have a pool?  Again, this would seem to go against the theming, but perhaps it could be a really cool pool, with a hot tub resembling a bacta tank.

It almost sounds like a cruise. Everyone in on the same day, everyone out on the same day and no visitors. Think of what a hot mess that place would be if they allowed non guests in?

I don't see why it couldn't have a pool. I don't think the Star Wars canon disallows it so as long as Disney doesn't do anything against the canon they should be ok. After all Luke crash lands in a swamp on Dagobah so bodies of water do exist.

Good point. I've also thought about the new Star Wars Land and wouldn't be surprised if Disney has something like Extra Magic Hours with resort guest only access.

I agree with you. They've cleared a lot of space in that area, and it would be the logical place to put the resort. If not there, then where?

Agreed. But it's also going to be an issue when grandma and grandpa want to visit their grandchildren for some blue milk and Death Star cinnamon rolls.

Not so fast. All the promotional material I've seen has emphasized how guests will see views of space from their room's windows. I think it will be something like the virtual portholes on the Dream and Fantasy cruise ships. If that's the case, they don't need to worry about any actual sight lines or views from the guest rooms.

But maybe they'll also do what they do on the ships, charge more for the rooms with a real view.

Maybe, but I don't think so. The concept is to give guests an immersive feeling that they're in space. Even a direct view of the new Galaxy's Edge area would ruin the illusion (e.g. Earth trees, birds, sunrises and sunsets, etc.).

That’s exactly what I was thinking.

If the resort only has views of space, they can put the resort anywhere they want. They can put it over by animal Kingdom Lodge  if they want. And transport guests via space shuttle to Star Wars land.

I can see them putting the resort parking lot next to a “space terminal” and whisking the guests to the resort via a space shuttle.   The space shuttle will take you into the resort. And when you wanted to go to Star Wars land another space shuttle would take you there. So I imagine Star Wars land will have its own entrance just for  resort guests. And for guests who want to go visit another park or Disney springs, they would take the space shuttle back to the parking lot terminal,  for their return flight back to earth, and then use regular Disney transportation.

That’s just how I imagined it.

This what I was thinking as well. I envision a spaceport where the guests board a shuttle flight and are dropped off inside Star Wars Land.
