Yvonne's friend is at Disney and said she could share her pictures.

Recommended Posts

One of my friends from college is vacationing at Disney. She is disabled and is strong advocate for the disabled. Anyways, I asked her if I could share some of her and her service dog, Shack's pictures. She graciously said I could. So here you go.

Please know that she brought a sheet from home to cover the bed. Shack was not on the Disney linens.4fef97e817c6ad0b955f5976bfde620f.jpge13dc20c3c3b51607d60c77f66a02a28.jpge2a79fb7632346d3a0e1730af2472afa.jpgb12065b7b5aa966ce3a52f05a38264b9.jpg34d905a9e5ee5142ed56d467bd46127e.jpg62ec6578a890841601294dc948cae944.jpgc81ce1920b7fef34628849220b9e6908.jpg7f90159d74be8d69a67cb7ef90840042.jpg3960e61eaffe53f17d0311283409d110.jpg6a7936f0b1a7750f920bf689819720db.jpgc67c4da8f424dee8d12760724ce1b286.jpgf43023bc1b9f18235a0d20aae9232e03.jpg0791861c8c06ab352fc5ce4308d3f5f4.jpg

This one I wanted to share on its own. Like most of us who were not able to secure a FP for FOP, they got up early one morning and headed over to the park in hopes of riding. The ride is not accessible for her so she had to sit this one out. Her husband did get to ride and he enjoyed it. Oh yes she also said the pavement was too hot for Shack's paws so he got a rest day. She was able to ride on the Na'Vi river journey thanks to this contraption which allowed her to transfer into the boat.

Here is how she said it works:
It is a 3 step gadget in which its legs go inside the boat and the back legs are on the pier. An individual transfers from the wheelchair to the top step and lowers themselves into the boat by sliding down.

Wait. Doesn’t the jungle cruise have a special boat or two that accommodate wheelchairs?

i believe they do. I think I remember seeing someone roll straight on to the boat.

Yes they do, it's a platform in the middle of the boat. It may raise up to roll onto and then lower back down so you can see, I can't remember exactly.

Thanks for sharing.

Great pix.

Thats wondeful that they were able to accommodate her on the Navi river ride.

I wonder if they have something like that for the other boat rides?

POTC, jungle cruise, etc

The boat ride in the Mexico pavilion has certain boats with a ramp that you can roll right onto.

They had a great time and are heading home. She has come before with her now retired service dog. As I mentioned she is very involved in advocating for the disabled and in fact works for a company in SC to do that. If you are interested in more information or wanting to support the cause PM and I will send you the information. Right now I know they are trying to get an accessible van to help them better serve the communities.
