1 night in Disney and 2 at Legoland

Recommended Posts

The next Morning we had reservations at TRATTORIA AL FORNO, I still have no clue how to properly pronounce it. We got there a little early and some time to wander around the lobby of the Boardwalk.

The statue and stuff related to Lucy the Elephant took our interest because she is in New Jersey and we visit her yearly. Here’s a random picture of kite flying from a visit to Lucy 2 years ago. 7317a34d9f1c6fe2a10040eb19a56e01.jpg

Now let’s talk about these chairs?!? Why?? I’m sure there is some well thought out explanation to their creepiness, but to the average person, they are just scary. I’d love to know the story behind them.b116f3cf2db53d96ecb625122bc8a072.jpg

I think they have a ski show on the lake in front of the hospital one Saturday a month with the skiers from  the old show for free. It is on a lake side and you need to bring your own chair.

Gotta love a TR with a reference to Lucy the Margate Elephant !  Also I appreciate your descriptions of all you have to do to protect your son due to his peanut allergy.  I think most people, like me, have no idea. The sheets on the plane seats are a great idea.   I've taken pictures of those creepy chairs too, but I don't know the story.

I bet the people who stayed in your cabin before you were wondering why they were always early for their ADRs.  [emoji38]
Maybe it was intentional. Someone wanted to be sure they got places on time. Wanted to get the kids to bed early. I admit to having reset clocks before when mine were little and Steve was out of town.

I had no idea about allergies until we had an issue. Didn’t know anyone with food allergies, didn’t know any kids that had them. But slowly as my friends started having kids, our circle of allergy friends has grown. I’m thankful for the internet, as it’s been a wealth of knowledge and a great way to connect with other people about allergies, recalls, etc.

I do have to say I’m impressed with what my wipes look like after I wipe everything. They aren’t nearly as dirty as you’d think they would be after wiping seatbelt, arm rests, tray tables etc.

I'm glad Brian encouraged you to take this trip now rather than wait.
I know Adam is allergic to peanuts. What other allergies does he have. Based on all the care you take he is like a friend of mine who gets a reaction if she even smells peanuts. Some of my students in aftercare have peanut allergies, but not as severe.

He’s also allergic to tree nuts (walnuts, cashews, etc).

When we saw these chairs we had to try them out.

We also saw people doing pound on the lawn that the sitting area overlooks outside the lobby. Wayyyyyy to public of a space for me to want to make a fool out of myself [emoji23]21b3bcd69a73f651b6b52183c0e8a476.jpg pound uses weighted drum sticks so if you are off, everyone hears when you are smacking them out of sink.

Finally made our way to breakfast, once again we didn’t have to wait long to be seated. However, the characters tools forever.

The fancy skillet of pastries weren’t safe for Adam, so he’s showing off his safe bowl.

And another close up because they were tasty. The sun thingy reminded me of an elephant ear, it was really good. 884022db0754706aa13752fb450c0225.jpg

The fruit salad they brought out was terrible, it was honey dew and cantaloupe (both were hard) and black berries that were so sour i thought my eyes were turning inside out.

I don’t have any food pictures but the kids and I all had waffles. I didn’t realize the kids waffles came with chocolate sauce and sprinkles on the plate with the waffles on top, neither of my kids would eat them so we had to ask for new waffles.

Oh wow! I know people who are allergic to one or the other, but not both. That is definitely scary. Has Squish showed an signs of being allergic?

We had her tested for Adam’s allergens when she turned 1, and it was all negative. She hasn’t actually had any peanuts yet. The allergist told us to feed them to her in the parking lot of the ER in case she reacts but I’ve yet to get the courage to try yet.

Squish had issues when meeting 2 princesses, who do you dress like?!? So we compromised, dress like one and make hair like the other.

It took a while to see all the characters, Ariel led a parade through the restaurant. It was totally obvious one of her besties was there having breakfast.

After we ate we were feeding fish in the lake (which now I’m wondering if that is a no no?) anyway a little boy was watching my kids so we have him some crackers for the fish. His dad picked him up so he could see better and dropped his sunglasses in the lake. We then went to the arcade for a bit and then started our trip to Legoland.

It’s a pretty easy drive and we didn’t have any traffic.

We arrived at 12:15 and check in isn’t until 4, but for $56 you can have access to your room at 1. Wonder how long until Disney offers this? We ended up doing it because we wanted to have somewhere to relax.

I missed page one, but I'm here!
Great job so far. Your kids are adorable, and it's great that grandma was along for the trip.
Quick question- why didn't you drive the rental car to Chef Mickey's?

We wanted to take the boat (and I actually never even thought about that [emoji23][emoji23])

The elevator, there’s only 2 in the hotel but the wait was never very long

This is what happens when you ride the elevator. My kids were thrilled because we were on the 5th floor this time.

Not the best picture but everyone was dancing

We booked a premium themed adventure room. Same layout and size as a regular room but it’s more heavily decorated.

This guy greets you as you come off the elevator (he said something different each time)

Bathroom. Disney should take note, their bathroom has a step stool, a kid toilet seat and a shower head that comes off, all things that make life with kids easier

There is a little treasure hunt for the kids in the room, you have to find a 3 digit code (first number of your room, how many peep holes the door has and then there’s a spinny puzzle that has a number on it.

Spinny puzzle (this is under the tv in the kids room)

And the safe that had the lock on it. The monkey is made out of legos too.

The safe had 2 small lego sets, 2 bags of pretzels, 2 juice boxes and a lego magazine.

Hotel looks cool, I've only done the beach retreat here. Although the hotel looks very similar to the one at Legoland Windsor(England), only we had the pirate room there. I wondered if you had gone for the premium room, my view when I did Windsor was that its expesenive anyway, may as well pay the bit extra for the full experience.

Wow!  Those rooms at LEGOLAND are impressive!

It’s really neat and I love the kids have a separate section. Their beds are as soon as you walk in the door, than the bathroom and then the king bed/window. There was a lot of storage in there too (plus a k cup machine and a mini fridge).

I'm shocked by how cool the legoland hotel is. The whole set-up is perfect for families with young kids.

It really is great. There is a lot of little extras. A whoopie cushion spot on the floor, the bathrooms have things that talk, kid sized sinks in every bathroom (again hello Disney, do this!!) character meets, nightly entertainment etc.

Every day the hotel offers a model build for hotel guests with a “model builder” they used to be called “master builder” but say that a few times fast and you will know why that changed that (per a CM there).
The classes are free but you have to sign up, I think about 12-16 is the max they take per hour. There was only 4 kids signed up for the 2pm class so the guy asked if any adults wanted to join so I kinda of forced my mom into it.

They don’t tell you what the project is going to be at until you are there. They have a neat set up where what the guy is doing is projected up on a tv and everything is enlarged.

The pieces for their build

This is the guy who did the class, he was super nice and patient. I asked him out the interview process to be a model builder and it was pretty interesting to hear about. First step they give them a physical model to copy, then a printed picture that doesn’t show all sides to build, and a few other things. It’s a pretty lengthy interview. I think Adam enjoyed hearing about it. We also learned when they make new sets if it has an projectiles they take kitchen plastic
Wrap and stretch it out and shoot the thing at it. It it breaks the plastic wrap it fails and needs to be adjusted until it can no longer break the plastic. Apparently plastic wrap is equal to injuring an eye.

The lego build took about 35 mins and then we talked with the guy for probably another 15.

We ended up buying season passes for Legoland, I got a discount on the room, %10 off food and merchandise, it included the water park and the Orlando eye, wax museum and the aquarium. They were $150 each (no discount for seniors or kids). When I ordered them we were able to upload pictures on line so they just had to print them when we got to the park. This was a nice time saver, plus I could use good pictures of us!

We got into the park at 3 (it closes at 5) and it was empty, like how is this place still in business empty.

When we went last year she played some fishing game and won a big unicorn, she wanted to play the same game again so $12 later we have this.
