Select hotels at Walt Disney World are now offering Mermaid School, where guests are fitted with a mermaid tail and taught how to swim with it.

Guests ages 4 and older can take part in an hour-long class where they’ll be fitted with a swimmable “tail” and led through activities teaching them how to swim in a pool like a mermaid.

The Mermaid School will be offered at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. Classes are $50/person (plus tax). Bookings (select dates per resort) will open mid-March through 407-WDW-PLAY.

The experience is being operated by local Orlando company, The Mermaid Academy, who provide the instructors and the loan of the tail.

Funny, we stayed at the Yacht Club a while back and brought the granddaughters mermaid tails with us to do some photo shoots in the shallow wading area off the main pool.  As soon as the girls started putting them on we had 2 lifeguards come running over saying they weren't allowed.

We explained we were staying in that section and just taking pictures.  The entire time we had the life guards eyeballing us to make sure we stayed in that area.

Now since its the decade of a Million $chemes it's ok to swim in the pool.

They are super dangerous and I’m surprised they are allowing kids as young as 4! Elizabeth has swimming flippers that can hook together to look like a fin, and she uses them while wearing a life jacket and us practically on top of her andddd she can swim (but not tall enough to touch in most “shallow ends”).

You can bet it will be highly supervised by vety well trained CM's and lifeguards.
