We are going to French Quarter for 4th of July for $103 a night.  3 nights with taxes and 3rd party fees it came to $379.  Just as cheap or cheaper than a partial site.

Yes we will be in a hotel room and can't cook our own food, but we also wont have to fold up a soggy PUP or wade thru a flooded site.

For a 3 day stay it's really not worth setting up and breaking down a tent or PUP, by the time you can check in and the time they eject you from the site.

Exactly ... don’t get me wrong I much prefer to stay in our camper (not tent or pup anymore ) than in a hotel room .. I still prefer Ft Wildernrss for our 3 each 7-8 night Disney trips but our shorter get aways we will choose a hotel on big passholder discount .. in fact this year will be our last ft wilderness trip (used to go for a week every year ) in March ..time to do something different next year in March

That's what you give as baby shower gifts,  pre-booked reservations to FL campgrounds. By the time the kid is old enough to go camping you might have a reservation available.

Hey, you just reminded me that I was supposed to announce an upcoming event at Mickey's Backyard Massage Parlor and Casino....Throwback Thursdays!  Wear your corsets and bring your buggy whips for no

According to a fellow TA friend who is local to the Fort the Premium Meadows loop numbers are 600, 800, 900, 1000, and 1400 She isn’t on here but thanks Nancy

I have had some time to reflect on this one while on hold and other things the last day. Many of the people I book at the Fort have specifically requested close to the Meadows. Over and over again. So I make the request. Not everyone can have that request though. So now there is a category for it. If you are booked in the category you are getting the proximity. If you are not you dont have to wait until you get there to be disappointed they couldnt meet your request. Just my two cents on it.

Possibly.  I can understand that logic.  I just can't understand the logic of $200+/night for a campsite.  Well... I understand it from Disney's perspective, as people are paying it.  But for our family, we simply cannot do it.

It is hard to wrap your head around. In the past 2 weeks I have paid for 4 nights at Noccalula Falls CG, 3 nights at Live Oak Landing outside of Destin, 3 nights at Defeated Creek, and 1 night at Rainbow Springs State Park near Ocala. All of that was a grand total of roughly $375.

You hear/see that on other forums as well, They are the preferred  loops because of the proximity to the pool etc.

So my logic of the "Preferred" loops (100-300) no longer being preferred and therefore should be cheaper holds up!  hahahaha

Have cart....will travel...from the undesirable outer realm loops.

You know... the cart would pay for itself before very long with that logic.

I just checked and I can get a week in November in a WATERFRONT site in Key West for $162/nt. Veeeeeeeery tempting...

so, here's my question....

I made my premium reservation for our upcoming 10-day stay at the Fort many months ago.  Way before Meadows Premium was an option!  Are they going to honor the fact, when we check in, that I was given many premium options for loops to pick from when I made the reservation and now many less ?  We were splurging on a premium site so we could possibly have loop 1400 to celebrate my triplets' high school graduation.  We rarely ever pay for premium and I am assuming they would hit us with a fee for a downgrade at this point since we arrive in 5 days.  Very disappointed!😒

I think if you were already booked before the category was official you should be good. I will let you know Monday....we always stay in the 900's.

  • 3 weeks later...

I'm paying $100 per night for Little Arrow CG in Townsend, TN in a few weeks. I'm not sure if that means the Fort isn't such a bad deal or they are both way way over priced.

After spending a week of July 4th at FW i know there isn't another CG that we enjoy so much. Either way it sucks that camping can be so expensive.

Oh my gosh... you're awesome.  We just drove through that place last week.  I LOVE it there!!!  But yes, $100 is overpriced.  It's stunning (are you getting a river site?), but that's really high.

Just saw this.  Yeah... that's where we're at.  When we think of what we would pay at Disney and then (with those same funds) what we could possibly do instead, that's what priced us out of the Fort.  It's either one week (7 nights) at the Fort or 22-25 nights at state/city parks.   Because I like being out as much as possible... the latter is a better fit, for us.  If we were a family that only camped a total of one or two weeks per year, I could see going all out and staying at the Fort.

Not riverside, but just across from them in A loop. Planning on doing some tubing if the river flow is good.

Go rent a cabin on motel on a river then you will see high. But I agree  $100.00 a night is to much for a camp site. When we stayed  a Camp Gulf 3 years ago that was crazy high. Although now I think it's about what the Fort cost.

Just searched camp gulf. 2 nights in the sites close to the beach showed $371.

We went during spring break I think it was a little cheaper and we were 1 row back from the beach. To me it was not a campground. It was more of a place to park your camper and be able to walk places down the beach and drink a beer. It was fun.

Florida campgrounds in general are getting very pricey . Forget about if you want to camp during snow bird season .. most wont even allow guests to stay for less than a month between feb 1.  - May 1

my dad comes down every year to the same place but has to pre pay for his whole trip w min stay of 45 days

that’s why we don’t plan on camping during those months anymore .. the Fort is $200 and if your lucky to find one that will take in a vacationer it’s over 150 per night

The Fort doesn't sound like a bad deal compared to some other place for $150.

Florida has some awesome state parks that are affordable. I guess you have to make plans a year out though.

Even the state parks up this way book up super fast.  Of course they're the only campgrounds that aren't at least $50-$100/night too.

About a month ago we booked 2 state parks - both way out of season, and even then we had a hard time finding availability.

MA in late Sep/Oct for $47/nt - water, electric, 3 minute walk to the beach.

VA in late Oct/Nov $46/nt - water, electric and we can walk right over the dunes to the beach.
