File this one under “unexpected”. The Liberty Square Market seating area has been completely leveled at Magic Kingdom. The seating area was a good spot to take a break throughout your day while enjoying a quick snack from the Liberty Square Market. Disney has yet to comment on what improvements are being made to the area, but with crowd flow a seemingly big concern for the company as we approach the 50th anniversary in 2021, it would stand to reason that a wider pathway here would benefit all. This area of Liberty Square can get quite congested throughout the day as an intersection of traffic builds from Haunted Mansion, Frontierland, and the Cinderella Castle hub area.

Here’s a look around the area from rope drop this morning.

As you may be able to tell from the photos above, the demolition site is an island of sorts, with pathways available for guest use on all sides of the fences. You will also notice that stroller parking continues to be used in this area. Another possible upgrade to the area could be expanded stroller parking to alleviate some areas around The Haunted Mansion during high traffic times.

Finally, here’s a peek into the construction site, where you can see everything has been demolished. As you can see, it’s not just the planters that have been removed, but some of the concrete and brickwork has been removed too.

Deceiving headline...NO MORE MARKET PLACE SEATING....not NO MORE MARKET PLACE.. and who knows maybe they are just re-configuring it. The depth of the trench on the left of the last picture tells me it will be more than just open space. That looks like a footer/foundation excavation.
