The Problem With Chalk At Campgrounds

Stimulating creativity in kids is not a bad idea, but doing so with colorful packages of outdoor chalk in an RV park or campground has more downsides than we may realize. Additionally, the use of outdoor chalk does require close supervision, and it always presents a teachable moment.

Never thought of the lasting mess.  My grandkids aren't that interested in chalking up the campsite.

BUT there are a couple of FB Disney groups that really go crazy on "Stop by and chalk our site" posts.

This article would not make you any friends on that site ! >:(

And the non nozzle green hose that Disney uses to wet down the site sure doesn't have any good pressure to wash the markings off the pads.

Bet you they'd really be unhappy if the old chalk was still there when they arrived..

And we really think people care what anyone else thinks? They come in this campground where I live and don't give a damn what the rules or common sense say, it is all about them. Disney is the worst example of this. There isn't a person on site that is a "owner" so they feel there is no one that they think is the absolute authority to "make" them follow any rules. The fact that they paid money for a site makes them think they can do whatever they want when ever they want. They feel the chalk is what makes their little one "cute" or that they are showing off their artistic talent. What they are really doing is defacing someone else's property no matter who thinks it is cute or artistic. They leave a mess for others to clean up and should be charged a hefty fee to clean it up.

How did chalk art go from a creative thing that little girls did, to vandalizing thousands of box cars and buildings throughout America?  Is there something in the chalk that effects their brains in some way?  Does all that purple and pink chalk dust up their noses turn them into zombies?  The Fort and all the parks are closed until further notice and this is what is upsetting you?

You gotta be kidding. Disney is for kids.  Kids like chalk.  Maybe you guys can petition them to ban chalk like 3 place strollers and the whole place can just be jazzys and nice sparkling concrete pads.  But they already have those places.  They are not Disney.  They are the stuffy,  uber expensive, mostly seasonal, $100,000 RV and up only resorts.  No thanks.  Well be there chalk drawing the place up and trashing it up with all my kids bikes and toys and strollers.  Cause that’s what makes it great.  Family memories.  I’ll skip the pic of the power washed concrete pad in my scrap book.
