Someone posted on FB (maybe mistakenly) that their reservations were cancelled, but Disney was taking new reservations starting June 1st. They were pitching a fit.

Maybe got June and July mixed up

Probably didnt get the memo that the check in moved from June 1 to July 1 a couple of weeks ago

There were already posts yesterday from DS about people flaunting the mask rule by carrying drinks around the facility without masks on.

I thought the rule was no mask on while doing sit down dining not wandering around with a drink.

I was at a casino, were masks are mandatory and I left my mask on the entire time.
but now I need someone to tell me how to get the smell of beer out of my mask. Lol.

but seriously. How do you expect people to walk around DS or Epcot enjoying a beverage with a mask on?

IMHO. It’s going to be a big problem if they require masks.  Some people don’t think they’re necessary and will push the rules and others will complain to CMs about the rule breakers.

btw. I wear a mask when I’m told to.

Frequently Asked Questions

What new operational procedures are in place for Universal Orlando Resort?

We are implementing specific procedures and practices that are in line with CDC guidelines for the safety and health of our team members and guests. These new procedures will cover three areas - screening, spacing and sanitization – and key measures include:

  • Guests and team members are required to wear face coverings
  • Guests and team members are required to undergo temperature checks. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or greater will not be able to enter Universal CityWalk or the theme parks
  • Staggered parking within the parking garage to help create distance between travel groups
  • Limiting and reducing daily park attendance and attraction ridership in Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and Universal’s Volcano Bay
  • Increasing cleaning and disinfection of food locations, ride vehicles and other frequent “touch points” that go beyond our already-aggressive cleaning procedures
  • Social distancing at all locations through the parks, within attractions and queues and at restaurants
  • Having Virtual Line available for select attractions
  • Offering cashless payments and “no touch” policies where possible

Please note the CDC advises that older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. Guests should evaluate their risk in determining whether to visit. People who show no symptoms can spread COVID-19 if they are infected, any interaction with the general public poses an elevated risk of being exposed to COVID-19, and we cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed during your visit.

We appreciate your cooperation during this unprecedented time. Visit the CDC website for the latest guidelines.

Due to the evolving nature of this situation, details are subject to change without notice.

Hotels have not been official announced as opening as of this moment. More information to be found at the link I shared on many aspects of re-opening.

There was a mask I saw that has a small snap open cap just large enough to fit a straw thru.

When you're done you just snap the cap closed.

There was another mask on the news last night that had a hand held lever.

You squeeze the lever and the middle of the mask goes up and down opening a gap to shove food in, then you let go of the lever and the gap closes.

Now the media is reporting WDW to present their plans next week, but they have also added the caveat that, "even though we're accepting July reservations that is still subject to change"... The saga continues....  Also all the small attractions opened yesterday or today.   Fun Spot, Gator Land, the water park at Margaritaville,  The Eye and Magical Midway.  Lego-Land June 1st.

Beer through a straw?

That makes eating a hamburger or other two handed food a two person affair a so one can work the lever while the other shoves the food in. I think I'll take the risk of no mask when sitting down to eat.

Beer through a straw is gross (I blame college).

Taking off the mask while sitting to eat works just fine but if this goes on into the fall I wonder what that will mean for Food & Wine when most food and drink is consumed either walking around or standing next to the closest trash can?

Good question???

hopefully the mask requirement will be over by then.   Most businesses around here are not requiring masks but suggest people wear them.
a big casino opened up this weekend and they require you have a mask on when you enter.  But are not enforcing you wear it once you’re inside.
I’d guess that about 90% of the guests were wearing their mask. And when I saw some one smoking or drinking they had their mask pulled down under their chin.

The thing is there are people who will not go to the parks whether they make everyone wear a mask or not.

there are still others that won’t go if they’re forced to wear a mask.

then there’s most of us in the middle that, if made to, will wear a mask, follow the rules.  Pull down their mask to eat or drink and then put it back up when we are done.

I spent an hour in a casino yesterday and I wore my mask.
I pulled it down while I drank two beers.
it was uncomfortable at times.
it was a pain in the butt at times.
it  smb when I sneezed into my mask. (Boy I  would have given $20 for a new mask at that point.  Lol!)

but I followed the rules because I was in a private business that asked me to wear one.

that being said I’m not going to the parks if I have to wear a mask.  Because I think an hour of wearing a mask is all I can handle.  And it costs too much money to travel oklahoma and spend an hour in the park.

but if I lived in the area I’d probably hit a park for an hour or two if I had to wear a mask.

Yep - all that.

So allergy season note to self: carry a spare mask!  LOL

I'm wearing a mask where it's required by a business or if I know I'll find myself somewhere where it's not easy to stay a decent distance away from others. But I'm with you in that it's super unlikely I'll visit the parks if a mask is involved.  How long I could handle it depends very much on the weather. I already overheat easily and that's here in NH. I went to a garden center/farm stand the other day and I could just about handle the hour I was there in 70°. I managed, but it was not comfortable, never mind fun. Also agree it's not worth a long and/or expensive trip to only be able to spend really short periods of time in the park comfortably.

So do I really want to go to WDW?  Oh you betcha!! This is the longest stretch between trips for us in 20 years. But that said I can wait until I'm pretty sure it'll be the fun, relatively stress-free trip that we make the 1400 mile trek to enjoy.  Heck by the time we get back we may have enough points on our Chase Visa to pay for a big chunk of it.  😎

Last week, SeaWorld Orlando ran tests of their Mako Coaster with masked riders, and now they have submitted a proposed date for reopening as well!

SeaWorld’s tentative reopening date still needs approval by Florida’s Governor Ron Desantis before it’s official.

SeaWorld also presented it’s new health and safety protocols upon the theme park’s reopening. These will include mandatory face masks for all employees and guests over the age of two as well as temperature screenings for everyone entering the park.

Additionally, social distancing markers will also be placed on the ground throughout the park (especially in areas where crowds are likely to form) while cleaning and sanitation practices will be ramped up. Employees will be receiving specific training on the park’s new safety procedures and are being instructed to stay home if they exhibit any flu-like symptoms.

SeaWorld will provide contactless entry to guests while the park’s restaurants will be rearranging seating to promote physical distancing between parties as they dine, and sanitizing tables and chairs after each group leaves. Condiment and topping stations will be closed while refillable items guests may have purchased previously will be substituted with single-use products. Shops will have defined entry and exit points while and certain animal viewing areas and exhibits will operate with social distancing markers and limited capacity.

Several Orlando-area theme parks have already reopened, as have many stores and restaurants at Disney Springs and CityWalk at Universal Orlando. Now it looks like SeaWorld will soon be joining the list of reopened Central Florida attractions pending the Governor’s final approval!
