From Disney.

In an effort to continually enhance the Guest experience here at Walt Disney World Resort, we refresh our offerings from time to time.

The Contemporary Feature Pool at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will be unavailable in winter 2023 while it undergoes maintenance work. As an alternative, Guests staying at this Disney Resort hotel may enjoy the Bay Pool, leisure pool at the Contemporary Resort.

Additionally, the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground will be unavailable beginning January through April 2023 while it undergoes maintenance work. As an alternative, Guests staying at this Disney Resort hotel may enjoy the Wilderness Swimmin’ pool.

During this time, it is possible that Guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from Guest rooms, Guest cabins and campsites between dusk and 9 a.m.

So they are announcing a 2023 closure now?  A four month closure for “maintenance work” seems excessive.  When the Meadow pool was closed for the removal of the deep end and addition of the slide they let Fort guests use the Wilderness Lodge pools. Now everyone in the campground is supposed to use the cabin pool?  During Spring Break? Sounds right.

That sounds like more than just "maintenance" and definitely weird they're announcing it so far ahead.

Things that make you go hmmm....

I think this is them covering their butts. It’s right around the 509 day mark for those bookings. By announcing it now, they can say they told you to anyone who complains about it.

That was so 2009.  Prior to the onset of the Year of a Million Schemes.  The Mouse was a kinder, gentler rodent then.  Not to mention, the high rolling guests of the Lodge didn't appreciate the ring of scum us campers left in their pool.  That's why the purchase contracts for the new Lodge DVC resort have a "no campers will be allowed in the pool" clause.  Maybe.

You’re so right.  The thing is that these knuckleheads have more than a year and a half to plan for this, and the best they can come up with is for the entire campground to use the small cabin pool?  During Spring Break?  That is next level stupidity.

Ah yes... that makes a lot of sense.  I'm sure they got boatloads of flack the last time the pool was closed for a long time.
