Running - so I actually walk, but you know what I mean

Recommended Posts

As many of you know, I have had health issues and now I Walk 5K (3.1 miles) "runs" to keep what health I have (and hopefully improve a little by losing some weight). On November 5th I did something new to me - I "ran" to raise money for a worthy cause - Give Kids The World, in this case.

I have also done more than 5K in a few cases, but on January 7, 2012 I am going to try something totally new - I'm "running" a 1/2 Marathon (13.1 miles) ... again as a Fund Raiser. I am running with Team AllEars to raise money for Deb Wills, the founder of http://allears.net, to do her annual Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. I do my share by getting sponsors and bringing in at least $500. If you would like to donate to this cause, you can contact me for more information. I recieve no money you donate; Team AllEars recieves no money; Deb Wills receives no money - any checks are made out to "Avon Walk for Breast Cancer”. We pay all our fees because we feel it's for a good reason ...

For all of you living in the Tallahassee area (or traveling through), Genghis Grill (off of Apalachee Parkway) is donating 20% of all of their sales on Nov. 17th to sponsor my 1/2 Marathon walk! You don't have to pay or do anything extra - just drop in, tell them it's for the 'Avon Walk for Breast Cancer' and eat some good food!

If you live in or near Tallahassee, Florida - or have friends or family there - let them know that there will be a FUNdraiser supporting me for the Team AllEars 1/2 Marathon Avon Walk For Breast Cancer fund raiser. All you need to do is go to the Genghis Grill on Apalachee Parkway and eat in or take out between 11 am and 10 pm on Thursday, Nov 17th. No need to pay extra; no need to make a donation directly; just tell them you're there for the fundraiser... Avon Walk for Breast Cancer will get a percentage of their sales. Feel free to contact me directly if you DO want to make a Donation!

Just a reminder - this is TODAY! Enjoy lunch or dinner Genghis Grill in Tallahassee, FL; don't forget to tell them it's for the Avon Walk For Breast Cancr Fundraiser; enjoy your meal. No need to pay extra - they make out a check for the Avon Walk out of THEIR profits, and I get credit for that support on my 1/2 Marathon Walk that takes place in January! If this does well, it may become a monthly affair at Genghis Grill, so tell your co-workers, class mates, friends and family! Eat good and fight cancer - does it get any better?

I'll do another one - np. Meanwhile, I'm on Team AllEars 2013 and have committed to raise money again. Ask me if you have any questions. Deb Wills (the founder of http://allears.net/index.html ) did the first leg of her Avon Walk for Breast Cancer 2012 today. With Team AllEars help, she raised over $100,000. http://allears.net/AvonWalk/

I'm also doing the Give Kids The World Gingerbread Run this November. http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/edrussell/2012-give-kids-the-world-gingerbread-run-5k Last year was a great experience - and this year there is a FortFiends TEAM running! http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/edrussell/2012-give-kids-the-world-gingerbread-run-5k/team

The donation site for the Deb Wills/Team AllEars 'Avon Walk for Breast Cancer' has been updated for the 2013 walk. For more information, go to http://info.avonfoundation.org/site/TR/Walk/WashingtonDC?px=3843338&pg=personal&fr_id=2190 If you are inclined to donate to this worthy cause, click 'Donate Now', in the Personal Note section, put in Ed Russell - Team AllEars before going to the text page to insure I get credit on my fund raising commitment. I (and anyone helped by the Breast Cancer research) greatly appreciate any donation - no matter how small or large!
