The Rainbow Bridge Pet Memorials

Recommended Posts

Everyone who has ever loved and lost a pet knows how emotionally difficult it can be.

Please use this thread to memorialize your beloved fur babies.

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,

Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.

Where the friends of man and woman do run,

When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,

Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.

On this golden land, they wait and they play,

Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,

For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.

Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,

Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,

Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.

All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,

Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

For just at that instant, their eyes have met;

Together again, both person and pet.

So they run to each other, these friends from long past,

The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,

Has turned into joy once more in each heart.

They embrace with a love that will last forever,

And then, side-by-side, they cross over? together.

When we lost our first border collie Maggie suddenly (almost 6 years ago) Brian and I dealt with it very differently. We were both in shock for quite a while as she was only 6 and it came completely o

You absolutely, positively, did NOT fail him! Period. I know you doubt that now, but you were there for him when he needed you, even when there was nothing humanly possible that you could have done.

This is for my stepson,s beloved Sheela. She was a true hero. Friday night we lost her to a home fire. Thank you Sheela for waking Sean up in time to get out of the house. You will always be our hero.

Now I am crying.

We lost Buster our 6 year old chihuahua last September, from congestive heart failure.

He was the best dog in the world. Acted like the little mother to all the other pups and smart as a whip.

Miss Dora passed to the other side today and she is now following her nose, pain free and with a strong heart.  She came into my life 10 years ago.  My daughter saw her get hit by a car and sat with her until the Fairfield County (Ohio) Humane Society picked her up.  Fortunately for me, Dora won the coin flip and was nursed back to health.  I drove to Ohio over Thanksgiving 2001 and brought her back to her new home in Texas.  She was a good traveling partner, joining me on trips to Niagra Falls, North Dakota, Manitoba, Saskatchewan...  She was a good old dog...

Judy I'm so sorry for your loss of Miss Dora.  A pet can be as loving, if not more loving, than human relatives.

I lost my Butchie (a beautiful buff-colored Cocker) 4 years ago.  He'd had a stroke but had been misdiagnosed.  He is now in a pretty urn in the family room.    His previous owner had passed on and I adopted him.  He only owned me for a couple of years, but he'll own my heart forever.

We lost a member of our family this past Saturday. Clemmy our oldest doberman crossed the rainbow bridge after 11.5+ years. She will be missed, but I'm sure she is chasing squirrels, getting pepperoni treats and lots of love there too.

The pictures below were after we got Savannah ~3 years ago and before Clemmy's wobblers really starting a slow debilitation. She was a wonderful sister to Savannah and trained her and us well.

I wanted to acknowledge this thread, but if I want to keep my man card, I can't read any of the posts.

The rapid scrolling feature is a good thing.

Yeah. There must be a lot of pollen in the air today or something. My eyes started to water a bit too.

Genia, I am sorry for your loss. Those are a couple of great photos of Clemmy.

I am so sorry. Wiping tears away here too Nicki... for you, and for all of us. I've often told the kids the story of the rainbow bridge and am waiting for that day when we can hold our pets again...
